Custom partial pricing magically appearing on their website after my review.

I had a really disappointing experience at Marianne Strokirk Salon. I booked what I thought was a Partial Foil Highlight, which their website clearly lists starting at $160+. I completely understand that salons use a "level system," but nowhere during booking, check-in, or my appointment did anyone specify what level my stylist was, how that affects pricing, or that my service would cost double the listed price. As a new client, I had no way of knowing that the stylist I booked was considered "top-level." After my appointment, I was charged $465 for what was essentially a partial highlight, toner, and trim. When I called to ask why, I was told the increase was because my stylist was "top-level," which is not mentioned anywhere on their site or booking portal. I asked to speak with the owner and was told they'd call me back, but I never heard back that day. (They did eventually call the following day, likely after seeing my review.) To add to the frustration, my appointment lasted almost three hours -- much of it waiting -- and when I said I needed to leave soon because my parking was expiring, the stylist insisted I had to get a blow dry first "because it's quicker and better to cut that way." I've never heard of needing a blow dry before a haircut, and it felt inconsiderate given I had clearly stated I was on a time constraint. Once again, I thought I was there for a partial foil. I have gotten this done before and between the foiling, blow dry, and hair cut it's never taken more than 2 hours. Update After Their Response: After my initial review, the salon replied publicly saying their pricing is "very transparent," yet in the same message admitted they "cannot quote online for color." Those two statements directly contradict each other -- if you can't quote online, you can't claim transparency. Their website clearly lists starting prices, implying a reasonable estimate. Nowhere during booking or my consultation did anyone tell me I was getting a "Custom Partial" or that it was a separate service from a Partial Foil. If I had known, I would have asked for a pricing estimate, but again the entire time through I assumed I was receiving a partial foil and anticipated paying between $160-$250 for this service based on their websites starting prices. I'll admit it's possible I accidentally selected the wrong option online, but I told both the front desk and the stylist multiple times that I was there for a partial foil, and no one ever corrected me or clarified that it was a more expensive service. Yet they were more than happy to add a haircut to my appointment -- a service I hadn't originally booked -- without any issue. As a first-time client, I wasn't familiar with their booking portal, service categories, or hair-color terminology. I've only colored my hair once before, so I relied on their team to guide me honestly. As someone who works in healthcare, I find this lack of transparency unacceptable. In my field, performing any procedure without informed consent would be considered unethical. The same principle should apply here -- clients deserve to fully understand what they're agreeing to and how much it will cost before the service begins. Just because this is the beauty industry doesn't make deceptive or manipulative practices excusable. After my review went up, the salon quietly edited their website to add "Custom Partial | $253+," a service that did not exist before my appointment or my review. I have dated screenshots showing the site before (Oct 30) and after (Nov 2) the update. The owner then claimed the pricing was "always listed" -- which is simply false. It's one thing to charge more for experience, but it's another to retroactively edit your website to make it look like the information was there all along. That's not transparency -- it's gaslighting. Be cautious booking here. Prices online may not reflect what you'll actually be charged, and in my experience, accountability only came after public criticism, not customer communication.

DISGHUSTING HIGHLIGHT JOB BY BRAXTON Please look at the attached wish photos so you can see what I asked for vs what I received. These are the worst highlights I've ever seen, not only did the hairstylist not listen to what I wanted, he completely did his own thing. I paid $270 for this mess. The highlights are way too chunky and messy and uneven at that. He didn't even ask me how I parted my hair he just started grabbing random pieces of hair instead of separating the hair to be highlighted. I have to pay to have them covered and completely redone elsewhere so this ended up costing me more money. The manager said that she was completely happy with my hair and that there was nothing wrong with it. Don't come here because they will botch your hair and refuse to give you any of your money back, this place is a joke.

I had hair color with Rhi and then a cut with Tyler. Marianne Strokirk is super clean and taking COVID precautions pretty seriously with temperature checks, answering a questionnaire, and spreading out seats throughout the salon which is quite large. All staff and patrons wearing masks as well. I decided to do something bold and knew I wanted to go to Rhi based on a photo I saw on her instagram and from a friend's referral (there is a first time referral discount!). Rhi was really reassuring and triple checking changing my hair something so bold is what I wanted. The process went by really quick. I did a partial balayage in EMERALD. I will admit it was very bright emerald which a lot of dimension so some spots were on the lime green side. I think my ideal was a dark emerald, but that was in fault of Rhi's because it's not what I asked for and she honestly made the process so seamless. Looking back at the pictures, the color was stunning in the ring light. She was really attentive and easy-going to talk to! I also want to give a shout out to Tyler for the gorgeous cut where he was able to frame my face perfectly and give me the long bangs and layers I desired without my direction. I would 100% recommend Rhi and Tyler!! The prices are high NGL but comparable to salons in the area.

Im not a karen ... but worst hair experience in my life BOTH times i went 1st time apt with Rhi i arrived 15 min early and checked in ... the receptionist was beyond rude!! I was the only person in the waiting area and i wasnt taken back up 45 min after my apt. time. They continued to ignore me as i told the receptionist my apt was 20 ago.. 40 min ago etc... and they rolled their eyes the salon was not busy. and through the glass i saw my stylists fooling around making tik toks ....she along with several people saw me waiting and did nothing ... after all of that a very rushed apt and $300-400 later..... 2nd time with MiMi i chose a different stylist hoping the experience would be better... we agreed on an inspo pic partial balayage ... only for my hair to come out the EXACT same color as when I walked in... she offered to fix it for free and i went back in 10 days later ... and the picture below is what I have now AFTER she corrected it. .... I have an ELSA stripe HORRIBLE also around $300 for this

Madeline Brady is one of the best colorist in the city. I am very picky about my blonde color and she always gets it right. I go back and forth between being more bronze in the winter and light in the summer and somehow she always makes it look perfect. She is professional, kind and listens to the clients. Highly recommend booking an appointment with Maddie!

This is what I had before I went to the salon.

The stylist was very personable but my special event hair styling was awful. I wouldn't return to the salon. Overpriced and underwhelming.

I was referred to this place by my old lash girl who is retiring (I am so sad! Miss you girl!), but…read moreanyways, the girl she referred me to no longer works here, but I thought I would try it out anyways. I booked online (which is super convenient!) with Kelsey and she was super sweet and friendly on our first meeting. She was attentive and took extra time to really get a fill for what I wanted in my lashes. I went for the "flirtatious girl" look because I love my lash extensions but like them for every day work wear so I do not want them too full. She did them perfectly and custom shape to my eyes and taste! Now I am a regular lash extension enthusiast so I get my fills regularly every 2-3 weeks for pretty much ever. I hit my 2.5 week mark with my initial full set from Kelsey and they still looked beautiful so I pushed my appointment back a bit to 3 weeks. When I got my fill Kelsey did amazing once again and made them look like new! I am going on 2.5 weeks now with my fill and they still look great! So glad I found Kelsey to be my new lash girl, and Flutter studio as it is clean, professional, and super friendly staff!
