    Mini bendejo with grilled chicken
    Jennifer D.

I was really excited to try this place, because it's been years since I last had Colombian food. Somewhat hidden in a strip mall near Colonial 18 movie theater, this restaurant makes a convenient place to get dinner if you have a movie to catch. The walls are filled with Colombian art and there are plenty of bicycles on display, so you'll have plenty to look at. The vibe is very casual, though the prices are a little higher than expected. Entrees were around $15-23 each. That said, there's plenty of food on the plates. I wasn't crazy about my mini bendeja with chicken - the rice was undercooked, the egg was overcooked, and the chicken was really bland. The bright spots were the beans - absolutely delicious! and the tostones that came with my wife's fried red snapper. They were probably the best tostones either of us has ever had. The service was friendly and quick, and there's a bakery shelf full of goodies to try as well as a small grocery. All told, if someone wanted to go I'd be down, but otherwise I probably won't rush back. I'd definitely order differently.

I have been to Trigo's several times now for lunch. I go on the day they have their chicken soup special. It is a large bowl of their rich, creamy chicken soup, served with a side of rice, avocado, fried plantains, and condiments of cream, green chilis, and capers. It also has a small side salad. When they bring your soup, you take the rice and put it in your soup, then decide how spicy you want it with the green chilis, add the cream and the capers for saltiness. So good!! I always leave completely stuffed because the soup is so filling! It is delicious and I highly recommend. There is also many baked breads and I especially like the one that is slightly sweet with a cheese filling. So good! This place is super casual, and in a strip mall, not fancy. Don't expect fancy, only great food and very pleasant people working to serve you. I

The place itself is pretty cool with its bakery and decor, very Colombian. The staff seemed a bit distracted but were overall pretty nice. The food, I feel like I've had better. I got the Mini Bandeja Paisa and it was just ok. Now, I have not tried all their dishes so I can't speak for all of them, but this dish is not something I would come back for. I would definitely come back for their bakery though.

A friend of mine recommended I checkout this spot in Lawrenceville and it did not disappoint! We live in East Cobb and there aren't any good colombian restaurants in this area. There's really not good Latin American restaurants here. I was highly disappointed by las delicias de la abuela the last time I went and haven't gone in 2 years. We drove 1.5 hours and would do it again. I highly recommend the food and service here. Our server was very attentive and accommodating. We paid around $51 for 3 mangos en leche and our 2 big meals. Definitely a steal!

    Dry, stale and crumbling pandebono

I was craving some Colombian food while I was in the area I decided to come here. BIG MISTAKE!! The food here is most definitely NOT AUTHENTIC whatsoever. This place is an embarrassment and nothing more than a let down and a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. I ordered pandebonos and highly regretted getting them after my first bite. They were ROCK HARD and had no cheese. To make matters worse, they tasted far from a pandebono. You can taste the leche condensada that they used to substitute ingredients in the recipe. If you have ever had a real Colombian pandebono then you would know that 1. The texture is soft, fluffy and cheesy. 2. They are not supposed to be so dry to the point where they crumble in your hand like a saltine cracker. And lastly, they are supposed to taste buttery, cheesy and rich in milk. It is very evident how much they are skimping on ingredients and don't care for the quality of food they produce. Again, this is an embarrassment for them to even sell this to the public let alone claim to be Colombian. Just because the owners are Colombian does not mean they know how to cook authentic delicious Colombian food. In addition to the pandebonos, unfortunately I also wasted my money on what they call empanadas which was more like masa de nadas. They claim to have chicken empanadas but the only thing they had in them was mushy bland corn flour and a few fibers of chicken. AGAIN THIS IS a disgrace and 100% NOT COLOMBIAN NOR AUTHENTIC. If you're craving Colombian food you're better off going to Abuelas in pleasant hill, los recuerdos Atlanta, casa vieja or even la casona because this establishment is a joke and not worth your money.

The building is wonderfully decorated, inside and out, and can keep you busy for hours just taking in all of the details. The food and pastries are delicious. It's one of my favorite Colombian restaurants in the area.

U c the artsy mural.. so fun.

I was craving some fried pork and a cheese bread pastry. The price point was fine but the fried pork fell short. And one of the bread pastries had a unpleasant sour taste. Two simple staples of Colombian cuisine was a disappointment. Sometimes you just order the wrong thing and I will give them a redo because of the pleasant and helpful customer service of the young man there. Clean restaurant, location, and fun artsy decor warrants them a redo. So if I do go back I'll try a soup.

My friend brought me here to eat and I would say it was pretty good. Great staff! Food came out quick. Missing hot sauce. I understand Colombians don't really eat spicy but I think having something spicy and sour would break down some of this grease. Would also love some greens but overall not to shabby.

    Bandeja Paisa

Excellent Colombian Restaurant. I ordered "Bandeja Paisa" and it was delicious. The portion was very big (it was so big that I wasn't able to finish it by myself). The server was very friendly and patient when helping me choose a dish. I will be coming back!

Made a rare appearance in Gwinnett today to run an errand. Really didnt want to since Brazil vs…read moreSwitzerland we're playing and the World Cup had been amazing up to this point. Luckily I got the bright idea to try to kill two birds with one stone and grab some grub while catching what was left of the game. Since I've been to Colombia quite a few times I figured I'd compare their cuisine to what I'm used to seeing and tasting when actually traveling out that way. Sure enough they were showing the game on a nice big screen with a couple of other folks in there with me on a Sunday afternoon. Wasn't packed wasn't completely empty just like I like it. Their menu actually has both what you typically see in a Colombian restaurant in Medellin or Bogota while adding a lot of other options that you might not see at a typical Colombian restaurant in Colombia. The food actually turned out to be tastier than expected. The salad was very fresh...freshness and simplicity being signature adjectives used in describing good Colombian fare. The Pechuga de Limon...Lemon Chicken Breast was tasty with the right amount of tang and salt without being overwhelming. Rice and maduros (Sweet Plantains) were good as well. Meal ran me $14 which was the only part that did not remind me of Colombia lol. But quite fair for Atlanta. This place is in a plaza where you dont have to worry about parking. Service was also very good. And as a bonus I discovered that they have rumbas on Friday and Saturday nights til 4am. I am quite excited to partake in that! Maybe it will feed my frequent hunger to get on a plane and salsa outside the states. To be continued...

Ok my Colombian friends!!! This is an authentic Colombian restaurant. The server told us that all…read morethe food is prepared in the restaurant :) one star for homie food. I tried the passion fruit juice without sugar (it's good they give you the option to choose if you'd like sugar or not), another star for that. They brought us chips and salsa on a side, which made me feel like I was in a Mexican restaurant. If the owner could change that for the Colombian "pan de bono" it would be the cherry on top, nothing more Colombian that a good pan de bono. I ordered chicken with mushroom sauce that was delicious. I substituted vegetables for the rice. The beans weren't tasty at all, I would cook them with natural broth, more veggies and spices. The server was friendly, polite and was attentive, another star because of him. Keep up the hard work guys, I know you've only been open for 6 month. I'm sure you'd get better.
