I love that there is another gym option on Hertel now. Everything was super clean. The downstairs area is used for their classes, and above, almost like a horseshoe balcony is where people can use the open gym. They have Peloton bikes, stairmaster, weights, kettle bells, treadmills, basically all the cardio equipment you'd want in a gym. I'm not sure if they have strength training workout equipment besides the weights as I just did a quick browse before my class. I have only ever taken the Tred + Shred and Tred + Core classes (which I love - Lex is a great instructor!), and it's been a while since I've been back, so I wasn't sure what to expect of this new-to-me class! Chloe was the instructor, and when I shared I was a bit nervous, she assured me I'd be fine and that it would move fast. The room was set up with 10 different stations that we would cycle through the 45 minutes. It was tough but I looooooooved it. Classes like that are my absolute favorite. I feel like I got a great full body workout and really pushed myself. Chloe was super helpful and kept an eye on all of us to help correct form. I always need a little extra help with form so I really appreciated the support. They are also on ClassPass which is great for me as it's the main method I use for booking classes anywhere. I wasn't sure if I was going to officially reup my ClassPass membership but I feel like I've got to now cause I want to add this class to my routine!

This is one of only two gyms I have been to so I can't compare with others but I can say this gym has a good range of equipment. I like that they have brought in newer equipment in the past year which has been fun to try new exercises and alternatives. I don't think I have ever had an exercise I couldn't do because of them not having the equipment for it. For the most part I don't have to wait for equipment to be available and if I do have to wait it isn't long enough for me to want them to get more of that equipment. No bad things to say about the facility and the staff is friendly. I'd be disappointed if the cancellation process (like others have said) was more difficult than it needs to be after going to this gym for years but at the moment I don't plan on canceling anytime soon.

The equipment is in excellent condition and they recently replaced most machines with newer ones over the last year. They have a good selection of cardio machines as well, including treadmills, stairmasters, bikes, and ellipticals. There is a regular workout class schedule included with membership, however, I have never attended. There are large dedicated locker rooms with showers that are always clean! However, you do have to bring your own lock. They also recently just added dry saunas to the locker room included with membership as well. Overall, excellent gym, I would recommend it to anyone!

I used to sign up for women's only gyms because of the sheer amount of people at Good Life and LA - it was just obnoxious - and also everyone was magically already in good shape. At Terries, I think the max amount of people I've ever seen in this gym at once is 15 - which is fantastic. Because the space is sort of divided into different areas, it never actually feels as busy as it may be. Personally I go on my lunch breaks or two hours before closing as I find those are the emptiest times, and who doesn't like having the gym to themselves? Can this gym use some upgrades? yes. Slowly I am seeing a bunch of newer machines make their way into the gym, but the machines they have still get the job done. This is a no-frills gym with great staff. Terry and her husband are also great. My only complaint is that it needs to be cleaned a little more thoroughly, it could use a good dusting.

I asked why I would be required to wear a bathing suit under my bathing suit. His response was because what I was wearing was not a bathing suit. I told him several times "this is literally a bathing suit" to which he responded "no, it isn't." He finally said he would allow it "this time" but that in the future I would not be allowed in the pool without proper swimwear. I was on the verge of becoming upset so I let it go. My friend and I used the pool and left. When I went to my car to leave I decided to retrieve the online order history for the suit I was wearing, went back inside and showed him. His response was that the information I provided confirmed they were "bike shorts" not swimwear. I clarified that they are bike short "style" swim bottoms. But he continued to disagree. It was obvious I was getting nowhere with him so I went to the front desk and spoke with an employee who agreed with me that my suit was in fact swimwear, and then advised me to "just come when he's not working". Considering the fact that this location will soon be the only one with a pool, and membership is over $500 a year (44.99/month) I shouldn't have to come only at certain times to avoid a lifeguard who is unfamiliar with women's swimwear. I also didn't pay $120 for a bathing suit to have to wear another suit under it. What a disappointing experience.

When I entered I was greeted by the EMW front desk staff and directed back to the Pilates room. The room itself is quite beautiful and well appointed. There is some Pilates equipment (forgive me that I don't know the name of all of it), but the course that I was taking focused on mat work. There are plenty of mats available if you don't have one. Larry was our instructor and he was outstanding. He walked the class through a series of warm ups and then the Pilates exercises. Larry was clearly an expert in anatomy and physiology, which really impressed me. He walked us through each exercise and made sure that we were all attending to proper form. Since the class was small, Larry was able to give lots of individual attention (which I loved). After class was over, he checked in with me to ensure that everything went well and that I felt comfortable in the class. I even forgot my water bottle after class and he ran it out to me in the parking lot. Overall, I would recommend the Pilates loft if you are looking to get friendly and personal Pilates instruction in a location where you could also get your yoga on. The workout wasn't as intense as I generally like, but keep in mind tha this was only my second Pilates class and I'm sure that with time it can be intensified.

It didn't take long before I realized that all of my anxiety was for nothing; Sarah is amazing! Every lesson with her was a fantastic learning experience and so much fun. While we were taking the lessons, we were also in the middle of a cross-country move, we had to put a beloved pet to sleep, and in general my boyfriend and I were losing our minds. These lessons were better than relationship counseling and really allowed us to reconnect and relax with each other. I'm not dramatic enough to say that without Sarah our relationship would have been in trouble, but I am positive that Sarah and her salsa lessons helped us during a difficult time. Plus we were totally able to impress the heck out of all of our friends at a recent wedding with our mad dance skills! I recommend Salsa Sarah to everyone!
