Overall, I had a positive experience but their facility was underwhelming. I tried the trilogy facial. I would say the facial itself was 4 starts but the facilities had less amenities than my gym. The bath that other people mentioned in their reviews is a regular bathtub next to their restroom area I that you can add some bubble bath to it. Again, nothing that you can't do at home. read more

omg! Had the absolute best massage from Sean. I was having really bad back pain from my pregnancy and needed some relief ASAP. Searched Yelp and decided to give Trilogy a shot. I had no idea it would change my life! If you are having any sciatica pain or prenatal uncomfortableness, Sean is the person to see. Was treated here for mothers day. The massage was fantastic and the facial was ok. Love the spa deck where you can chill out between treatments. The ladies locker room amenities were lacking. This might be my 3rd time here. It's okay not great. Very simple - bad communication at desk. When I called, I wasn't sure what I wanted. I was told when you come in, you can decide. Walk in, have you been here before? She walked away before I could ask a question. Massage was good with Ted. Wanted to relax, just got off work after massage, come out to dirty towels, glasses, magazines over the chairs on the patio. So unless I wanted to clean up the area, which was not going to happen. No relaxing for me! It was a Thursday @ 4:30. Not a weekend and only 1 other person was there. Now to the showers, tried one, No hot water, on to the next one, same thing. There was no one there to ask. I call the desk and the answer was, "there is no hot water". That is part of the spa, you are greasy, cold and want a shower. They could have told me when I booked that morning or even when I walked in. When I went downstairs, they ask "So how was everything"? REALLY? She offered me their salt scrub which is one of their main things when you take a shower there. She also offered a day to use their spa . . ?? to do what? Sit and read a magazine? One of the girls did apologize with their standard, Sorry, we really don't care . .. . . Horrible customer servious and hospitality. I could have gone to massage envy for this. read more

SO - I'm hear to alter my last review....I was pretty upset and felt very much let down after my last experience.....that said, shortly after, the owner of Trilogy, Chandra, personally reached out to me and did everything she could to make it right. I went back last week, as it has been hard to find another spa that is so comprehensive and trusted, and the experience was just as good as all of those prior to my last. SO...kudos to Chandra for being such a top notch business owner and for TRULY caring about her clients. Also, for anyone missing Hailey - - DEB is FANtastic....she took exquisite care of me and has brought me back into the Trilogy web ;) (My original review is below, only so that you can see the impact that a business owner can have when they actually care) - thanks to Chandra and Deb and everyone who's been beyond kind. I had been an extremely loyal Trilogy client since the day it opened and was a client of the spa no less than twice a month. Until my last visit. As my favorite aeshtetician, Hailey, moved, I used someone else. The treatment was awful and incomplete. When I inquired at the front desk - instead of bringing me to a treatment room to finish - they brought me a cotton ball with lotion TO THE LOBBY and said 'use this'. I travel to manhattan beach for work every once in a while, and on my most recent trip I had some down time and decided to treat myself. I found trilogy on yelp, and I'm so glad I did! The patio was wonderful, definitely a little piece of heaven. My masseuse was Malia, and she was just as heavenly as the patio. I got an 80 minute deep tissue, and I was pleasantly surprised by her strength, and the perfect amount of pressure she applied. I explained that I was in town for work and asked her for some restaurant recommendations, and she gave me some great options. She also recommended the lehua honey rain shower and I am definitely going to go back for that next time I'm in town. Honestly this could easily have been just a blah spa experience, but thanks to the awesome patio (and wine :) ) and my great massage from Malia, I will definitely be going back for more. read more

I have been searching for 9 years to find a spa that exemplified service. Trilogy Spa is it! Finally! I came for the waxing and facial. No skin irritation with either. I didn't get burned and they paid attention to the minute details. Sitting room with fruit plate was exactly what I needed to regain my senses after an incredibly relaxing experience. I rose from the table euphoric. Perfection! I'll be back for the massage and complimentary sugar scrub. I went here for my birthday and had a facial and honey scrub treatment. They give you 10% off and a free glass of champagne on your birthday! I had Marisa for my facial and she was amazing!! Super knowledgable and took the time to explain things that might help my face. Loved her! I had Mark for my honey drench scrub and he was great! Would def go back! This place is located in the heart of Manhattan beach, when you walk out you can literally see the ocean. The atmosphere was very warm and welcoming and my friends and I enjoyed the relaxation. Marissa is awesome I enjoyed my Pumpkin facial, it was amazing. I came 40 min late and they were still able to accommodate me even tho she was fully booked. Thanks so much! After our individual services we went on the roof and relaxed under a cabana. This was a very intimate spa setting, very small so if your a people person or like to people watch ( like myself) I enjoyed Burke Williams or Glenn ivy. I do wish there could have been basic activities or services that come with the admission but unfortunately if you don't book a service unfortunately there is nothing to do here. read more

Great place. Been here a bunch and have always had a good experience. I recently had a deep tissue and ended up hurting a bit after. (My fault, should have communicated better) I called them the next day to ask what I could do to help ease the pain and they had me come in for a complimentary massage. It helped a ton! It was a good experience. I had my bridal shower/bachelorette here. Just 4 girls. Malia: I had Malia for the deep tissue. She was good. Felt so great that time flew by for me. She was very nice and conscious of instructions. I had asked her to work on my upper and middle back and to avoid my lower back, because I have pain in the lower back. She did exactly that. Spent most of the time on upper and mid-back working out all my knots. Didn't put any pressure on my lower back as requested. I would go back to Malia again. There was zero pain. Sometimes, I come out hurting from a massage, especially when it is deep tissue. You could always ask Malia to use more pressure if you prefer them that way. Jenni: My fiancé got Jenni for a deep tissue as well. She just went to town. It was a good massage. Jenni is a bit bigger than Malia and used that extra pressure. Angie: My maid of honor got Angie and said she was good as well. Linda: There might have been a bit of a misunderstanding when my friend requested no "gluteal work" (don't touch my butt muscles), because she did. Other than that, I think it was fine. We tipped everyone $20 for their hard work. I have to give kudos to Kelly at the front desk for appointments, because she had to do some extra work when I was trying to book 4 female masseuses at the same time on a particular day. She made it work. Thanks, Kelly! As for the facilities, the outside lounge area was pretty nice. They offer you water and tea, and some fruit if you are hungry. You are also allowed to bring your own food. I believe they have a menu you can order food from as well. We brought some proseco and Trader Joe's snacks. There was a birthday party at the same time and 3 girls were in robes while the 2 guys w them were not. They were just there for the celebration, which is cool. However, once the girls left, one of the dudes, just laid down on one of the beds in his regular clothes and shoes and played with his phone for about an hour. THAT was kinda creepy! We are in robes, naked underneath, trying to have some quality time in the outside lounge and there is just some random dude in regular clothes next to us lying down. I think the staff should kick people like that out. If it were a guy that was in a robe that was obviously using the spa services, then that's normal, but this was not and it made us uncomfortable. He should have made to leave after his party left, in my opinion. The locker/shower area was really small and maze-like. You can easily end up doing laps around the place before you find where you need to go. When we got there at 4, some girls were getting ready and we definitely had to move around them. No need to bring a swimsuit. They have 2 bathtubs and that is it. They are regular size tubs, not ones that you can chill with your girl friends. They do have a sauna. Finally, we had to look around for a bit around the plaza before we could find Trilogy. It is next to Lemonade. That wouda made it either to find. I didn't see the salts other reviews were talking about, btw. Park in one of the lots for 3 hours or more, so you are not in a rush or get a ticket. read more

Let me preface by saying that I am a spa-fanatic. I spa at least once a month. And I love this place because of its private event accomodations!! It was the most perfect location for our friend's Baby Shower. Location is great, but the parking is tricky, you have to make sure to park on the top floor where the parking meter limit is 10 hours. (I parked on the first floor 3 hour limit ran over and got a parking tix) But what a perfect gift to give to the Mommy, a day of relaxation. And the private roof top patio was PERFECT! Was very private for our event, and nice to hang out and talk and laugh, without feeling like we were disturbing other customers. Plenty of lounge furniture and beds to relax on. We had a party of 8 and could have comfortably had 20.The staff was sooo wonderful, they really did take of everything. I mean, I dropped off my party supplies and food, and they set it all up and even made the salad with the ingredients that I brought; all while I was getting my message! The message was ok (and I frequently get messages every month). Perhaps because I was late the therapist rushed, but the massage was quick fast movements, not very relaxing. But he did work well into my troubled areas. But I have had much better messages elsewhere. But I'd be willing to try this place again with another therapist for the price, its not as expensive as other places that have the amenities Trilogy has. I didnt try the spa amenities (sauna, tubs, showers) but the womens spa room was very nice. I would definately do an event here again!! read more

Sean is a miracle worker! I have been getting prenatal massages from Sean every 2 weeks for the past several months and he has a really solid understanding of how the body fits together. He was trained by a pregnant woman who walked him through what our bodies need as we approach labor, and he has been instrumental in me making it through the third trimeter. He has a great demeanor during the massage and is wonderful at communicating to make sure I am comfortable and that he is helping me where I need it most. I am absolutely confident that Sean would be a great masseuse outside of prenatal, but that is where I have experience with him. Trilogy is a fantastic day spa in Manhattan Beach. It's a bit small, but the atmosphere is peaceful and lovely. You really only need 30 minutes outside of your treatment to appreciate the spa facilities, but they have lovely steam/sauna/showers and a patio where you can enjoy the sun. read more

So, my friend and I are trying to get better with seeing one another...and although we both live in the "LA area" everyone who lives in this area knows that its rare to get South Bay people to head to Los Feliz and vice versa. So, when I saw the TravelZoo voucher, I figured why not. First off, when I called to book my appointment and my friends, the person who took the call seemed to have the hardest time when I said "I'd like my friend and I to start our treatments around the same time and end around the same time". I seriously was on the phone with the person for 20 minutes and finally she said "I'm going to call someone and have them call you back so we can get you and your friend an appointment". So... that evening I get a call reminding me of my 2pm appointment (wait... I didn't make an appointment... I thought someone was going to call me back?!?!) So, the next day, I get another message stating that this woman got my message about wanting facial and to call back Trilogy. So, when I called back, they didn't know what I was talking about BUT the person I was talking to apologized for the confusion and promised to help me. Which she did.. thank you! I got to the place and realized it was a lot smaller than I thought, which was no big deal since it seemed to be only my friend myself there. Here's where it got good. I got the thermal cocoon thing... and OMG... that is AWESOME. Afterwards, I got a facial and I swear if the aestitician wasn't looking I would have licked off the mask... it smelled so good and yummy. Overall: the time leading up to the appointment sucked, but the services themselves were AWESOME! (did I mention I got the sugar scrub... that stuff works great!). Although I left the spa relaxed, I ended up finding a stupid parking ticket on my window (damn you Parking Enforcement.. I was 4 minutes late to my car.. damn you). 3 stars for the nice women who hosted our spa party and the outdoor cabana. Lounging on the deck with a glass of wine, wearing a robe was like the best thing ever. It was beautiful outside, and I could probably have moved in up there. The downside, the prices and the service. I received a 40 minute massage for 99 bucks....Say what?! Not even a happy ending?! Say What?! I know. It was an OK massage, (I get massaged, a lot:) I didn't even get to flip over halfway through, my face was imprinted with a ring shape for an hour afterwards. This review is for my experience scheduling my service only! I called to schedule 3 facials for a weekday at the last available appointment time (6pm). The front desk notified me that they typically do not have 3 estheticians on staff to service at the same time. However she confirmed she would leave a message with Caroline who schedules parties and would get back to me. Caroline got back to me within a few hours and left a VM with her information. After phone tag back and forth for nearly a week, miscommunication over the date, and last minute phone calls to estheticians she was able to book our appointments exactly as desired! Treated my husband and myself to a day at the spa. Service was excellent. I felt like we received royal treatment. they allowed us to bring in our own food and drinks so we took a bottle of champagne, cheese and crackers. They refrigerated it for us, and reserved beds for us on the rooftop balcony with our items spread out for us :) The treatments were great too. Hubby was ultra relaxed. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is parking. There's only street and metered parking and of course I got a ticket. They really should invest in a private lot for the spa. I had a severe skin reaction to a Fire and Ice facial about a year ago at Trilogy. I had burn blisters on my cheekbones when I got home and was very confused as I had many facials in the past without any problems. I called Trilogy and they were also confused as it's normally a no-downtime procedure and asked me to send photos of the burns, they were SOOO caring and helpful with post-care treatment. They called to check in on me multiple times over the following days and offered a complimentary facial to help calm and heal the injury. I was a little scared to return for anything aside from massages over the last year and finally went back to try a hydrafacial last week. I brought up what happened previously and once again they were extremely gracious and even honored their offer from a year ago! Not many businesses are willing to take responsibility and care for their clients this way. I LOVE the hydrafacial and dermaplaning treatment Marissa gave me, I will definitely continue to support this business as they supported me when I needed it! read more

I had a hard time finding a good spot for facials when I moved to Manhattan Beach and I love Trilogy. Specifically Marissa is my favorite for facials, she makes every facial feel like a pure luxury. She's also extremely knowledgable about all of the products she uses and tailors each facial to the condition of my skin at that time. I'd give Marissa 5 stars, the only reason to take a star off for Trilogy is that for these prices, the amenities leave some room to be desired. For example, there is a small sauna but no steam room, jacuzzi or pool. The showers are also just 'okay'. But for the small space, they do make good use of it and the facilities are always very clean. There is also a nice outdoor space. read more

This place has a great atmosphere and location. Being set up right on Manhattan Beach Blvd really helps in the ability to create a fun date night out of the spa. My gf and I did just that on Sunday evening. First, the staff was great in fitting us in at the last minute. We got the couples' massage. It is pricey when compared to our ability as Los Angeleans to get cheap massages from Thai places. However, here it is about the experience (and the massage). Experience: Outstanding. 5 stars. Good facilities and atmosphere. The roof top deck is awesome on a nice day, especially since the Spa is so close to the beach. They provide robes, sandals, drinks, fruit, tea, full showers, more. Massage: Angie was my massage therapist and she did a really great job. She took notice to my areas of concern (shoulder, upper back, neck), but managed to work in the full body massage over the course of 50 minutes. I really liked her style of maintaining contact, even when she switched sides and moved to work on new areas. Service: Friendly people and the front desk girl even offered to run out to put change in our parking meter! Only reasons this was not 5 stars: - I couldn't figure out how to work the rain/overhead shower. I feel like that should be easy or had instructions - $100 for 50 minutes is reasonable considering the facilities, but still a little expensive considering the options for $45/hr massages in LA. - Only one toilet/private changing area in the Men's Locker Room. It was my first experience going to a spa and getting a massage and this place have definitely set a high bar for me. I think my expectations and standards of great service for future spa visits would always reflect how wonderful my first experience was here. It was nice that they accommodated 10+ girls, I was with a large group for a bachelorette event. I cannot rate how service was in booking appointments/reservation, so I'm solely rating for the staff, facility amenities, and masseuse. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We given a brief tour around the facility, which had a nice rooftop area for relaxation and waiting. They had complimentary snacks/fruits and champagne. The facility was also very modern, new, and minimalistic with no tacky designs. Hallways and rooms were nicely dim giving a very mellow, serene vibe. At the end, we were given complimentary sugar scrubs. My masseuse Sarah was very pleasant. I was told that for my first time, a deep tissue massage would be kind of rough. I got one anyways and I loved the pressure, it felt quite necessary for all my tension and knots on my upper body. Sarah was very sweet about everything and made my experience very lovely. I highly recommend to show up 30 min before your appointment to have time to get changed into your robe and slippers and enjoy the amenities they have on the balcony. Just got a couple's massage with my husband. Had an early appointment (when they opened at 10am) so check-in was hassle free and pretty quiet the moment we walked in. We had our massages side-by-side in one room. My husband and I agree the amount of pressure on our deep tissue massages was on point. And at least they asked if they got the pressure right. (Some people don't even ask). Coconut lotion/oil smelled delicious. Room temperature was good and decor was simple and relaxing. Afterward, we both agreed that the "rain" shower in the locker room was great. They have free aromatic scrubs to use in the shower too. You come out silky smooth and smelling good. Again, since it was early and a weekday, I had the whole locker room to myself... which I really enjoyed. At check out, they didn't have any problems processing my gift certs from spafinder.com and paying the balance with my debit card. This spa is a Southern California gem! Even though I've moved away, every time I'm back in LA, I try to schedule a treatment and some "me time" or "girl's day" at this wonderful spa. I've tried several spas and nothing compares to this quaint, serene, clean, relaxing spot. All the treatments I've experienced always have me leaving there like jello! The staff is friendly, accommodating and go above and beyond to insure a great experience. I also love their outdoor terrace with oversized beds and their amenities include a sugar scrub, waterfall shower, fruit and tea (as well as other common amenities). Inconsistent. My husband booked us both for concurrent treatments yesterday, a 50 minute massage followed by a 20 minute facial for each of us. We were thrilled that the spa was able to accommodate the appointments as he called that same morning. My massage experience was not pleasant. I would not recommend the spa for massages based on my experience yesterday. I've had better massages here. No, I did not request a specific therapist -- perhaps that is what I should have done? My facial was the best! MARISSA always does a wonderful job and she does it with such grace and care. My husband said his massage from ANGIE was excellent! His facial, not so great. Inconsistent. Hawaiian in theme, it features a luxurious waterfall shower that is open to use by anyone in the spa, regardless of the service booked. It's heavenly. The complimentary sugar scrubs (with a choice of brown sugar, plumaria or coconut mango) enhance the experience. In the waiting room, there is fruited water and fresh fruit for those waiting for services or simply relaxing. Smooth stones line the hallways, adding to the ambiance.
