Hawaiian in theme, it features a luxurious waterfall shower that is open to use by anyone in the spa, regardless of the service booked. It's heavenly. The complimentary sugar scrubs (with a choice of brown sugar, plumaria or coconut mango) enhance the experience. In the waiting room, there is fruited water and fresh fruit for those waiting for services or simply relaxing. Smooth stones line the hallways, adding to the ambiance. First of all, thank you to the SO for this wonderful birthday gift! Anyway, on the the review. As a disclaimer, I haven't been to any other spa, so I don't really have anything to compare this place to. So for my birthday, the husband "surprised" me with a exfoliation/honey rub, deep tissue massage, AND facial at Trilogy. The exfoliation/honey rub was pretty nice, except that I was hoping for more body scrub than honey rub. Unfortunately, the person who did that treatment lightly rubbed the scrub on me and then rinsed it off. I guess I prefer more aggressive scrubbing and exfoliating, but Trilogy is more of a... gentle and relaxing place? Anyway, the honey and coconut oil felt really nice as it was poured on and rubbed in though. I also liked the 6+ shower heads, but felt a little claustrophobic at times with the steam, towel over my face, and water pressure of the shower heads. On to the massage.... This was my favorite part. As I said in the above paragraph, I like aggressive treatment, and the deep tissue massage was perfect. I fell asleep a few times and was woken by the sound of the massage therapist dropping a bottle--not necessarily a bad thing to me because I prefer to be conscious during massages. Finally, the facial. The therapist rubbed lotion or cream or something on my hands and then stuck each of them in a plastic bag and then into some sort of mitten that "steamed" my hands in the cream. She used some sort of pumpkin mask that was supposed to exfoliate and get rid of my dead skin cells. A few seconds after she brushed it on, OMG, it started to burn and itch. Is that normal??? I wanted to scratch my neck so bad, but my hands were confined to the heat mittens. :( After all of my treatments and using their showers, my entire body from head to toe felt GREAT. My skin was super soft and silky and I was beyond relaxed. However, my face broke out the next day, but maybe it's just because I'm not used to using product on my face. I am very thankful that the SO booked this for my birthday, but after learning the price, I was stunned and don't think it was really worth the high price. This place is REALLY pricey. However, on the flip side, it's in a great location (love Manhattan Beach) and the facilities are extremely clean. Other complaints? Hmmm, the employees there were pleasant and professional, but not too friendly. My husband said it's probably because people come to the spa to be worked on and not to talk story, but to me, it was kind of distant and a little uncomfortable. Or maybe it was just me? Overall, I'm not sure if I would return, and definitely not on my own tab. Maybe I'll try a few other places and see how they compare first, so I guess you can consider this a 3.5-star review. read more

I LOVED the hot stone massage. Absolutely wonderful. I still dream about it and the pressure was just right. You know how massages feel good for about an hour afterwards and then you completely forget about it? Not this one.. I will definitely go back. We had dinner at Sashi Sushi afterwards and the evening was perfect. The stones are HOT. The only drawback is that they do not have a hot tub to soak in before. My oh my, this is one of those places you wish you could stay forever! We went (3 of us) for a Prenatal massage (the best my friend has ever had) a regular massage and a facial. First off, the rooftop deck is incredible... wish we brought our bikini's to hang out all afternoon up there! I can't speak for the massage, other than what my friends said- awesome! The prenatal massage was great because they rub everywhere, not just your feet and shoulders (apparently that's the norm for some places). The facial, I had Deborah and she is fantastic. Not only is she super in tune with what you need... she is sweet and so caring and gentle. I felt like butter in her hands, and while I admit, I was super stressed and in desperate need of some R&R, Deborah did it... she's amazing! If you're up for a little pampering, give this place a go... it's worth every stinking penny! And, my only suggestions for Trilogy to make it the "ultimate" spa, would be to have some makeup remover in the ladies room as well as a face cream for women to use after the shower... speaking of showers... the water is HOT, so if you don't like a blazing hot shower (I don't), skip it and go home to wash off. :) Overall, best spa experience ever, and I will definitely be back. I received one of the best facials EVER from Marissa (and I get LOTS of facials - its my favorite thing) when I went there on a Groupon promotion. The facial was only 30 minutes, however I now get a monthly facial with her for 80 minutes and it is my favorite time of the month! Marissa not only places you into deep relaxation with her facial massage, she also is fantastic at tailoring the treatment to unique skin types. I enjoy the spa atmosphere (outdoor relaxation area and the staff are super friendly) but Marissa's facials are why I continue to frequent Trilogy Day Spa! read more

Every aspect of this spa has been thought out in terms what what will pamper their guests. It is apparent that a feng shui expert had a hand in the design. It's all very zen... Two large soaking tubs are available for when you treatment is concluded. A dish with cut up fruit, tea, or water awaits you. There are complimentary dishes of their signature scrubs - cocoa, plumeria, mango - that you can avail yourself of when bathing or showering. Geraldine, who assists with the towels, bathing, and general pampering, is in charge of the upstairs area, and she puts out the most incredible effort. Love this spa in the South Bay. Other than it's practically on the beach, I truly enjoy their tropical/hawaiian theme, the spa beds on the patio and yes, their complimentary sugar scrub to go along with the rain shower. Their mango coconut sugar scrub is my favorite and they now carry smaller jars of it. It's a bit pricey for me, but definitely worth it. Some reviews indicate that this place is small and others say it's large. Well if you're referring to the waiting room alone, then yes, it's quite small, but if you step out onto their 2nd story patio that has a couple of day beds, then it adds to the space. I make it a point to visit during warm weather to actually enjoy the patio. I booked a party of 4 here, reserved one bed, and was able to bring in my own food platters. After our services were completed, staff brought the items to us! You also have the option to order from a few restaurants in the same plaza & they'll pick up your orders. The services are fine, no complaints here. I think I've had a facial & a massage, but don't remember anything negative about them. I'm due back for a stone massage. I've had a lot of great experiences here but of recent they have gotten worse and worse. Today was the final straw for me. My 50 minute massage started 10 minutes late and ended 3 early meant it was a 37 minute massage and a bad one at that. It was apparent the massage therapist didn't want to be there and spent the 30 something minutes rubbing oil in copious amounts everywhere wth zero pressure. The pillows smelled a lot like mold and facility was dirty, showers and bath were cold. Not sure if it was a pipe problem but either way it's not ft for people to be at. I've come here for years but this will probably be the last time. Looking for recommendations for spas in the area. read more

it's in a great area but due to covid they should lower the prices as majority of the amenities cannot be used. just charge for the massages for now and then when everything is back to "normal" charge the normal day spa prices. read more

Worst massage ever. Given it was probably my fault for running 20 minutes late but it set up for the worst experience possible. I called to let them know I was running late and they said it wouldn't be a problem. They failed to tell me that the massage was only going to be 25 minutes long even though I paid $200 for a 1 hour couples massage. Aside from this, the massage tables were hot and the bedding was super heavy so oils were barely necessary because I was sweating so much. The massage it self felt more like I was being greased up for a pageant. It was rushed from beginning to end and I walked out feeling more stressed then when I walked in. Next they led me into the locker room with the only direction to store my clothes so now I'm sitting in a robe without a clue. I guess we were too late for the tour because they failed to tell us about the outdoor patio lounge which we figured out on our own after getting dressed on our way out. I get we were slightly late but if it was gonna lead us to such a horrible experience I wish they would have just told us to reschedule with a fee. I would have happily paid to have a better experience given the expectations I had for this place but instead they just let us down and ruined my wife's birthday. This place was pretentious and overrated, but I'm speaking from a half hour massage so maybe the 30 minutes I missed was the good half. read more

Wow. This was my first time here. Front desk was super friendly and showed me around. I relaxed and took a steam shower to start, relaxed on the sun deck on a comfy sun bed for an hour before my appointment. I've travelled extensively, lived in a few other big cities etc- but this is My absolute fav Spa here in LA by far. Your best bet is a 50 min massage followed by a Fire & Ice facial.. you can't go wrong.. And if going with friends they have an actual Deck area that you can use before or after treatments- I usually go alone as I have a unique schedule- but an ultimate day would be to organize a girls day/ and after treatments meet for an hour or so with some snacks & a bottle of wine.. I love this spa and have been a customer for many years. The spa facility itself is nice, clean and enjoys a relaxing terrace, a nice sauna, a rain shower and 2 soaking tubs. No, it doesn't have a whirlpool or a standard pool, but when I go to this spa I am interested in the quality of the treatments. That said, I love the facility. It meets my needs. The portfolio of massage and facial therapists is fantastic. I have my faves, and in 8 years have only had one therapist that I would not return to for a massage. Two specific faves - Linda and Luke. Linda in particular is amazingly gifted. She really understands muscle and skeletal structure as well as energy pathways. I totally trust her when I need a therapeutic massage and I'm not just going for relaxation/pleasure. I have had massages for the past several decades at reputed facilities all over and would put this group up against anyone. read more

Although the location and the decor would merit more stars, it was so cold that I was shivering and couldn't wait to leave. They invite you to hang out and enjoy the calm surroundings but who would want to stay in a drafty chilly environment? This was my first time and I chose the full body massage which turned out to be an extremely light rubbing of oil on my body. This was not a real massage -- my sore muscles remained tight and I never felt relaxed. The person that attended me said this pseudo, super light rub-down was the spa's own definition of a massage - was she really just following orders? I've been going to trilogy spa for quite some time and have been happy with every visit. The facility is clean, staff is nice and friendly and it's close by. I've gotten multiple facials and massages including a couples massage. It's not the cheapest but relative to other spas it's pretty standard pricing of $100 or so for each service. read more

This place started out as a great experience but then went downhill after my massage. It was literally a series of unfortunate events........... The first thing I saw when I walked in was a bunch of items for sale...they were selling clothes, skincare, etc. My mom was with me and we were a little too early for our massage session, so we decided to look around. I really liked the things they were selling and the prices seemed reasonable. To the left is the receptionist, who welcomed and told us to go upstairs for our massage appointments. There's another receptionist upstairs who asked us if we've been to Trilogy Spa before. When we said no, she took us around the place and showed us the amenities they had. This lady offered us flip flops but all they had was a size large. She didn't even offer to check if they had more small/mediums...she pretty much just told us that it was all they had at the moment...so I had to walk around the spa the entire time with over-sized flip flops that I had to drag around. We were also told that we could use their hot tubs and also how the "rain shower" is very popular and is a must-try with their complimentary sugar scrub. Naturally, I couldn't wait to try them out! But first, we had our massage appointment. My massage was amazing. I don't remember who the therapist was but she was very accommodating, asked me what areas of my body I wanted to focus on and what I wanted for her to avoid. I even fell asleep towards the end of my massage because it was so relaxing! I woke up feeling refreshed and re-energized. After the massage, I wanted to sit outside where all the patio lounge chairs/ beds are...but it was all occupied and one of the beds was reserved, so we didn't even get to enjoy the outdoors at all. Anyway, I told my mom that maybe we could just use the bathroom amenities instead. The bath tub that I was looking forward to was a huge disappointment. First of all, the water temperature of my tub was not working...I started it out as hot water thinking that halfway through, I will mix some cold water in...only to find out that there was no cold water! It was too hot for me to get in!!! So I informed one of the staff and she was nice enough to manually get some cold water by filling pitchers and pouring it onto my tub. That was impressive customer service, but I think that if the water temperatures are not working, they should just put a sign there or something. Anyway, I worked with what I had and eventually after all the manual labor of the staff, the water temperature was finally right for me to get in...but the tub was too short! I'm 5'8" and I believe that's a pretty standard height for a female here in America, but I guess not with this tub...??? I was not able to stretch out my full body and I felt cramped the entire time. In addition, the ceiling light on my mom's tub space was not working, so she couldn't even read or look at magazines because it was dark. As if that wasn't enough, all these women around us were so loud!!! I wish there were signs that asked people to keep quiet or lower your voice since it was supposed to be a spa. After the tub, I wanted to use the so called "rain shower" with their popular sugar scrub. The scrub was amazing, it was rich and very moisturizing. The shower on the other hand...........was not exactly a rain shower. It was worse than a regular shower head! The water flow was nothing like rain...more like few droplets of water from an exhausted water pipe. It was so bad, I wish I just used their regular showers... There was also a woman who was very rude to my mom. When my mom used one of the toilets, she flushed it before using because that makes her feel comfortable and she's a bit of a clean freak. But one of the women in the locker room said out loud, "Why does she need to flush it before use?". This obviously has nothing to do with Trilogy Spa because that woman is out of their control...but I would not want to go back to a place where we are being discriminated. In the end, the same lady who manually poured the cold water for me gave us free sugar scrubs because of the lack of accommodations they promised they had. She was nice and I could tell that she was trying her best to make my mom and I feel better. But there was another staff beside her who was making faces and I definitely did not appreciate that. I'm an easy going person and I would've been okay with the free sugar scrubs, but because of this making-faces-staff, it made me ask for an additional discount. I really dislike that girl, she had such a negative energy around her and she does not fit the role of being in the front desk at all. I wish I got her name. I wouldn't go back because I felt like my mom and I were ripped off! I would give zero stars but the lady who helped me out with the cold water and gave us free sugar scrubs was really nice. She's the only reason I'm giving this place any stars at all. Too bad I don't know her name. read more

I planned a day at the spa with 4 girlfriend to celebrate one friend's pregnancy- a mini sprinkle. Two days before our appointment our guest of honor had some pregnancy complications. I called the manager, Olivia, just to get clarification on policy. Our friend was cleared and we planned to proceed. Then, the morning of she had another hiccup and I called Olivia right away. We cancelled and then an hour later got the all clear and she wanted to proceed. So I called back and she rebooked us. She was so kind and helpful even though we were unsure of our plans due to the situation and just made it work. We had a wonderful day and our pregnant friend got to relax and enjoy after a few hectic days. The amenities were great and our services were wonderful.
