I have been getting waxed all over chicago for as long as i can remember...I recently moved to the wicker park area and found Trim, very cute i must say! I arrived early for my appointment, and instead of waiting a half hour like most places (Benefit, Ruby room), I was quickly greeted by my esthetician Amber who was extremely friendly and welcoming from the get go. Amber was completely laid back but still professional as she explained what she was doing during my brazilian. She also answered my questions about the different types of waxes she was using and also suggested products for after the wax that would help with my ingrowns. Waxing has always been something i didnt look forward to, but after going to Amber i will NEVER go to anyone else!! I made an appointment here for an eyebrow lamination & tint with Patty for the first time ever. During the appointment, Patty commented on how long my natural lashes were and asked if I'd ever consider a lash lift. I was a bit hesitant at first but she alleviated any concerns I had and we decided to add it to my services. When I walked into Trim I had full, beautiful brows and eyelashes and walked out with 3-6+ months of damage without a solution to course correct. While my eyebrows were thinned (which is the opposite of what should happen with a lamination), the focus of my horror story is with my eyelashes. A few weeks after the appointment, my lashes worsened and looked absolutely horrendous. Some were curled so tightly I had to peel them off my eyelid, some of my lower lashes were curling in odd directions even though she wasn't supposed to touch my lower lashes, and others on my top were so wiry and fanning out in all different directions that I couldn't even put mascara on them to try and cover up the damage. I went back to Trim to have someone else attempt to remedy them and was told there's nothing I could do but to wait it out until my brows/lashes grow out completely and new ones grow in. I was also told this is result of Patty over-processing them and that a manager would contact me ASAP to attempt to remedy the situation. Not only did I never hear from the Manager but I am now 6 weeks into the treatment and my lashes are worse than I ever could have imagined. I will never go back here and would strongly recommend others avoid it as well unless you are looking for an expensive way to ruin your lashes and brows. read more

Less kitty, mo' hawk. Trim is EASILY the least painful of any intimate wax I've received. EVER. They use high quality products, which is obvious when the focus is on the most sensitive areas. A friend of mine raved about them, so I had to see for myself. I came on a Saturday afternoon without an appointment and was seen immediately. Awesome. At one point, Trim's XM radio station was playing something with major wah-wah guitar and 70's porn grooves. What a hilarious coincidence! One of the nicest placest in the city to go for a brazilian wax or a wax. If you are looking for some serious landscaping then this is the place for you. The place: The decor is retro, pinup but not cheesy. Its quiet and clean, small without being cramped. Private rooms - good for the screamers. The staff: most of the staff is very nice; they used to have a chick upfront that was rude as hell but I havent seen her last few times I was there and thats good. The aestheticians are friendly and they keep up the chatter in what is obviuosly one of the most awkwards services you can get/give. The service: they offer a several wax options - I can only speak to the brazilian and bikini and they were very good and thorough. A big plus is also the selection of jewelry which is small (wish they would expand it and get it away from the counter) but nicely put together. I've only had my brows done here but Dinah is the best! She does a great job and is fun to talk to, too. My only gripe is that I've been reminded by the receptionist several times that cash is preferred. The location is in a great spot (though parking can occasionally be a hassle), the estheticians are professional, and the interior is really cute and "sexy" if that's appropriate for an interior description... I came here after leaving Nail Bar, and I wasn't too happy about having to drive there (I could walk to NB), but I was happy once I started getting services. My girl and I got on well, and I was happy to pay the price. What I wasn't a super huge fan of initially was getting my eyebrows done in public, but when you're in that chair with your head back, it's only you and your esthetician. The waiting area has a huge soft sinkable sofa, some books which are artsy and cool, and they have some fun and helpful products including some lingerie, some bedazzling products, some treatment products, yada yada. I just went today for my second brazilian wax from Fiona. It was awesome. Well, as awesome as it could possibly be. When you're getting this done, you are really as your most vulnerable, and Fiona has twice now made me feel super comfortable and relaxed in this setting. She is the queen of small talk. Time just flies by because we're both chit-chatting the whole time, and before I know it, it's done. I have a very low tolerance for pain, and she does an excellent job of being quick, clean, and incredibly thorough. I've been places before where the waxer leaves bits of wax all over and I have to clean it up again myself, but not here. I've has zero problems, zero ingrowns, no complaints at all. The price is also excellent, especially for the service you're getting. Trim is lovely. I love the interior, the small yet spacious waxing rooms, the bright colors and mixed vintagey feel. Possibly the biggest plus to Trim: it's WARM! I don't huddle on the table waiting for my aesthetician, watching goosebumps wash down my limbs. I've had DeAnne for my last three Brazilians, and she is lively, chatty, and distracting (which is wonderful as you ladies know). Trim will take care of you, keep records of your past ministrations, ask when your next period is due, and make sure there are no adverse effects. They do what they do very well. Besides a wonderful lithuanian woman in the 'burbs, this may be the best south of the border wax I've had. My specialist was Daina who was sweet and chatty and fairly quick. I was a little freaked out about having someone my age and from Chicago (maybe it was too much like having your friend give you a full brazillian) but she: 1) was very professional 2) offered products but didn't push any on me 3) asked questions and listened to my answers (about sensitive skin concerns etc.) 4) covered a broad area and used 2 types of wax to make sure she got as much as she could. Today was my first Brazilian and boy oh boy was it painful! I have to say it was pretty awesome though. I am bare! LOL.... The lady who did my waxing was AWESOME. She made me feel so at ease even though this was a painful process. It was my first so I was really nervous. Yet, she made me feel completely at ease. I will definately be back. I have been to Trim a few times before, at both locations, and I much prefer the Milwaukee location. I've experienced two different receptionists, whose names I didn't catch, but they are both great! Very speedy in getting me checked in, although I'm also pretty laid back at salons about waiting until a receptionist gets off the phone before checking in. If they're on the phone, I usually grapple with my Belly app to get it to scan. That being said, I've been here for three services: full arm wax, full leg wax, and a Brazilian. Disclaimer: Remember that hair growth occurs in 3 cycles - some of your hair will grow back within a week, though it won't be as noticeable like it is when you shave. It'll be more "felt" than "seen". A consistency with getting waxed makes the hair that grows back finer and easier to wax over time. I learned my lesson by waiting a YEAR between Brazilian waxes. Never again. Kim is my esthetician for the Brazilian, and while this is a rather painful procedure because I have dark and coarse hair, Kim made me feel pretty at ease with a steady stream of jokes and conversation, and some quiet time when I really needed it. She used the hard wax, which feels a lot hotter than the other wax, and on a sensitive area, it didn't feel too bad because she warned me about it. Since I have had Brazilians before, I knew what to expect - popping painkillers beforehand. However, it only lasts a half hour, and the wax lasts a few weeks. Applying TendSkin nightly helps with preventing ingrowns - essential for those with dark/coarse hair down there or anywhere. Lynn is my esthetician for my arm and leg waxes. There's no difference between the two skill wise, it just so happens my schedule coincided better with two different estheticians. The pain is a lot less noticeable for these two types of waxes, though there were some parts of my legs where I had to wince (knees and ankles, ugggh). Lynn did a great job explaining which areas would hurt more, and was easy to converse with. She had me check over my arms and legs to find if I had any stray hairs, and warned me that she wouldn't get all the hair off my leg because some of it wasn't quite as long as it should have been. I spend about $200 for these three waxes every month. I haven't bought any maintenance packages yet, but I'm not in any rush. Parking is at most $3 for me because I usually have appointments in the evening after 7pm. I definitely would not give these things up, especially at Trim. It's a top notch salon dedicated ONLY to hair removal. You really can't ask for anything better! It's also located in a great neighborhood for exploring, restaurants, and bars. read more

I was a little skeptical at first because I was used to getting my eyebrows threaded. I was going to a salon up north and had been going there for years but lately they have been making them too thin. I reviewed comments on Yelp and decided to try Trim out. As with anyone who gets their eyebrows done, you are very nervous when it comes to letting someone new do your eyebrows and of course I didn't know what to expect. I walked in Sunday but they had no one available to do them so I made an appointment for the next day at 7:30 p.m. I decided to work from home the next day so I called to see if I could come in early and they were able to accommodate me at 12:15 over my lunch which was great!!! I had Dianna (spelling is more than likely off) and I must say that I was very pleased. I didn't have to explain to her how I wanted my eyebrows, she just started. I got a little nervous because she didn't ask me how I wanted them but took the initiative to shape them based off the contouring of my face. Oh my God!!!!!! I was so pleased and had her do my chin and upper lip also which was painless. This service cost me $45 which is a lot more than what I'm used to paying but you pay for what you get. I'm glad that she said I should get them done every 3-4 weeks as I couldn't see myself spending $90 + tip every month on getting these three things done, I have a child in college. I will definitely be back in 3 weeks which is in 1-2 more weeks as I loved my eyebrows, they are even which we all know is sometimes difficult to achieve, sometimes the arch is higher on one. Well, let's face it, waxing is no walk in the park, but it's worth every minute of soft, silky skin! For me it is. So I hadn't been going since I lost my last skin care professional... had a trip to Miami planned and dropped into Trim based off me driving by several times and the Yelpers. I've seen Bridget now twice for a legs and a custom bikini and once for an eyebrow. I recommend on all counts. I'm not sure if it's her technique or their wax or a combo of both, but I love that it's the least painful waxing ever and I'm a waxing pro- like she's putting on the thinnest layer in the world and ripping off a band-aid. You can handle a little ol' band aid coming off, right? I'm not a huge fan of "specialty" shops but I'm glad I gave Trim a try. Waxing is an art that salons and spas around this city should invest more time and training in if they are going to advertise anything more than eyebrow and lip waxing. I'd give a 4.5 starts if I could because I didn't come with cash and they let me put the tip on my card! read more

Oh and make sure you make an appointment, you can't get into this place without one. I called 30 mins to up until they opened to just ensure the appointment was cancelled.
