I went for a first time waxing service and had Kayla. Walking in it's a lovely facility. I felt like I was really treating myself by booking here. Kayla was right on time and did a great job of having a natural conversation (which is often hard to do) during my service. I had some questions which she willingly answered and the whole process was quick and as painless as possible. I asked about a product I wanted for after care and she showed me a couple but didn't push the sale super hard. As for my other service, I started getting a second brow girl bc my current one is always booked. After reading reviews, I went with Jada and she is amazing! She's perfected and tamed my brows in ways I didn't know were possible. She's also incredibly patient, as I'm hard of hearing and always asking her to repeat herself when we speak. It's very clear that you're blaming me for this instead of taking responsibility. The Ethsitician was 15 minutes late to the appt and did two strips and did not check her work, or tweeze the missed spots. I simply asked her to do this. The skin lifting was her fault. Not only did you injure my skin, you're now cap sizing an hostile response blaming me for the damage. Your ethics are egregious. As far as demeaning or uncalled for language? Anyone with an ounce of business sense would have realized $55 x 12 monthly appointments = $660 of revenue lost from me. I was also interested in brow lamination and facials. Blaming your clients for your shortcomings is a bad look. Have some compassion for your clients, especially single working moms, and act like actual human beings. Based on the number of great reviews here as well as the recommendation of some people in Logan Square I came to WSL. I had a great first appointment and although some spots were missed on my initial waxing (annoying to have to now wait 4 additional weeks) I wrote it off as due to the fact that I had not had waxing in quite a bit and it was a "restart" of sorts. I booked my next appointment and felt it was worth continuing to come see my waxer. Flash forward to my appointment day and I had a last minute meeting scheduled over my appointment time. I cannot say "No, sorry I have an appointment" to my boss, so I called to ask if I could please reschedule. I was told I would be charged no matter what even though this was beyond my control. When I reached out to the"customer service" team, I was again shown no empathy and told I would not be refunded the $55 charge. I can't afford to pay you for these services if I don't have a job. You're still going to be getting my money next week why is this not something we can work out? I even offered to let them keep the charge made today as long as I could come in next week. I get the reason for this policy, especially in cases of those who just forget or don't bother to show up. But for those of us who are not repeat offenders, are asking for a reschedule after 5 pm so that this doesn't happen again to either of us, and are new to your salon, you would think a one time courtesy would be extended. Especially because we are all facing hard times and as a single mom $55 is not nothing to me. WSL has now lost my business. I tried to work this out directly with them before sharing my poor experience here but got no willingness to work with me beyond offering me an appointment today which I have already established I cannot make. read more

But when I saw she no longer worked here, I still decided to see if I could find another person to do my wax here. I have also gotten multiple Brazilian waxes done so I was not worried. However, although the lady who attended me was nice, I was not completely satisfied with how the procedure of the waxing was done. My skin takes wax well and this time around I was bleeding a bit. Which caused me to get a little paranoid and be very attentive to the rest of the process. I know while waxing you are supposed to take strips by portions, and I just felt that the strips she was taking were too big and felt clumpy after trying to spread it too far. Overall, she did listen to me when I asked to take smaller strips and was nice to me the entire time. I just wasn't completely satisfied with the process of my wax and nor the experience. read more

I love having such a great business just a few minutes away from home. Booking online is easy and they are open almost everyday. During my first visit here, I had the Fire and Ice facial with Lorena. I've had many regular facials in the past at other places, but didn't know much about this particular facial. I saw it on their website and thought it sounded good. Lorena walked me through each step of the facial as she was doing it. This facial helped improve the surface of skin. During my second visit, I had Lorena again and she gave me the Ultra Hydrating Facial and waxing. The waxing session went great and I loved the results from the Ultra Hydrating Facial. It gave me the brightness and glow I was looking for. The atmosphere of this spa is modern and clean. Something that is different about this place in comparison to some other spas is the music. The treatment rooms have soft music, but the music in the main space normally drowns out that music. This isn't a big deal to me, but it might be a downside for some. read more

I'm not one to typically pamper myself but wanted to try a facial there. When I called up they called it a "bro facial." Immediately after entering the Wax & Skin Lounge, I was amazed with how clean the place was , it was decorated super cute, and smell d so good. The employees are so friendly and thoughtful. They offered me a drink while I was checking in for my service. My facial lasted for about an hour and the esthetician did a flawless job. I've never had such smooth and glowing skin before. When I came home, my wife was amazed and wanted to book an appointment right away. I only went to this business once before my honeymoon to get a wax. I've been waxing for over a decade and have tried several different places all over the country. This location was clean, but there were a couple different aspects of the visit that made me quite uncomfortable and sure that I would never return. 1) They don't offer anything to cover yourself with while waiting for your service. I was directed to a room and instructed to undress from the waist down. When I asked if there was a towel or anything to cover myself with, I received a confused look and told no. When she walked back in, thankfully no one else walked by, but had they walked by the open door and glanced in my direction, they would have seen everything. It was a bit off-putting to start my experience. 2) The waxing itself was fine until she was ready to do the backside. Normally, in every other situation I've EVER been in, I am simply told to lay on my belly. Kylee asked that I place my legs over my head and have it all exposed up in the air. It was the most awkward thing I have every been asked to do and made me incredibly uncomfortable. Service has always been great here, but there is one thing to keep in mind if you have an early Monday appointment -- they are closed on Sundays which makes it impossible to call them within the six hour notice for a 30 minute appointment to rebook with another esthetician or provide ample time in advance to let them know you'll be late. They open at 12pm on Monday and I answered their call at 12:05 and let them know I'd be late by 10 more minutes, which was my fault to begin with, but they would not reschedule with another technician without charging the full service late policy fee. First time trying this place since I moved to the area. Went in on a Friday afternoon. It was empty when I had arrived. The place was very clean. They had a table that had sanitizer and tissues upon arrival. I checked in and Kaylee was ready for me. Which was nice because most places I would have had to wait. She wore a mask and a shield and wore gloves. I got the full legs and Brazilian. She uses a combination of hard and soft wax on me. With everything I was out within 30min which was awesome! I first tried The Wax and Lounge when they re-opened in June after Covid. It was my first visit to anywhere else in a long time but I decided to try since my normal place wasn't open yet. I booked a Brazilian wax for my first visit and it was great. The Esthetician (Jocelyn) was very informative and the wax was as painless as it could be. I was very impressed with how they handled my visit during this Covid era. The space was extremely clean, the Esthetician had a mask and face shield on and the customer service was outstanding. I also decided to get a facial here last Saturday. Blown away with the knowledge from Kylie (I believe her name) and the result was great. She did extractions and got all my blackheads out and I left glowing. I did the 1hr Fire & Ice Facial. I came for a microdermabrasion. I learned about the wax and skin lounge from a tik tok. The location does not disappoint - its very aesthetically pleasing and gives off contemporary and luxurious spa experience. My allergies were driving me crazy the morning of my treatment so I tried to reschedule, but they have a 6 hour notice policy so I wasn't able to without having to paying for the treatment in full twice due to the short notice. This surprised me a little, because I paid a $15 deposit, but I sucked it up and didn't reschedule and I'm glad I didn't because I had a great experience despite my allergies. As soon as I changed and slid into the bed it was cozy and warm which was perfect on a rainy, dreary day. The treatment itself was glorious and my skin looked great after! My only complaints are that I wish my esthetician educated me on the products and tools she was using throughout, because this was my first microdermabrasion so I wasn't totally sure what was being done to my face and it's hard to ask questions during. However, I don't think this is the norm there because my second con is that the ceilings are open so I could hear the conversation one room over making it a little challenging to relax but they do turn the music up pretty loud which helps. They played pop hits in jazz which I enjoyed / made it feel super loungey. Overall, Ill definitely be back. It was extremely affordable compared to other spas in the city.
