Came here for a lash lift and tint and a brow lamination and tint about 5 weeks ago! Waited to review because I wanted to give honest results! The place is huge and clean! Staff is very friendly! The girl who did my services was lovely! I like the brow lamination a lot. The tint was wiped off a second after putting it on for my brows and I never noticed a different with the tint. The brow lamination lasted about 3-4 weeks. I wish the tint showed up, maybe it needs to be on more than 1 second, although she did say if left on longer it would be too dark but I did not notice a difference. For the lash lift I am upset about this service. My lashes were pretty crooked/all over the place. The service also made a lot of my lashes fall out. I really wanted to love this. I am open to trying again, I've seen great results on other people. Maybe I just need to try a different technician. read more

Writing this because the waxers are fantastic however...I have officially left after being a customer loyally since last July. I have only had to cancel once after a confirmed flu test. Even when I called then I was asked if I wanted to mask up and come in and I little taken aback at the staff and management's willingness to risk safety. I was then told well do you want to move it to later and my response was, "I will still have the flu later." They charged me but said it would be credited at my next appointment and it was. Fast forward. I have a birthday trip coming up and I originally booked my appointment for Wednesday morning but then changed it to Tuesday evening at 8:30. My car fob died and my car is push to start. I called them immediately and said I could uber but it would get me there five minutes after the grace period. They said I was the last appointment of the day so they wouldn't allow even though they're open til 9 and I would have made it by 8:45. I ask if I can come at 9 as they had complete open avails for Wednesday from 9 to 3 PM.. I was told no. I would be charged for tonight and then again the next day. I say this is ridiculous as I am a regular, this is out of my control and you've had no appointments all night except for me. I did not cost the business money. You are supposed to stay open til 9 and I have offered two solutions. I am not going to pay 150 for a wax because i am being double charged. So, I book elsewhere. This morning at 9 AM, I get a call saying they will grant me a one time courtesy to walk in between 9:30 and 4:00 as they have lots of openings. I state that I said this yesterday and they told me that they are enforcing policy and that yesterday I was told I could not make another appointment and this is different as it is a walk in. I said it isn't given that there's no one on the books. The point is, I could've been accommodated. I told them I booked elsewhere and I wont be back. Marking me as a no-show when I called ahead to explain what was going on is honestly a little crazy to me. They are so callous and cold. The front desk can be very non-chalant and rude. Happy to receive my services elsewhere moving forward. Update - they have responded saying this has happened multiple times. It literally has not. It happened one time when I had the flu. I had a doc appointment the same day and wanted to be proactive. At the end of the day your staff and this response is absolutely why I will not be coming back to your awful customer service. So I guess we are both fortunate and blessed. Calling me to offer an appointment I could have gotten yesterday and not allowing me to arrive three to five minutes after the grace period for a situation beyond my control is nuts. You close at 9. I would have been done by then. This establishment never needs to worry about me. Terrible management. Terrible staff. My favorite waver left and I will be following her regardless. She said she hated working here and your waxers consistently complain about how you make them uncomfortable and that these rules are unnecessary as you all do not stay booked - ie - all time slots open today from 9 to 3. Your turn over is high and it will continue to be because the establishment is run by raggedy, unkind people. read more

I left a review and was surprised to be blocked. I even got an email about them blocking me, which felt a little odd lol. They mentioned not understanding my initial review. Happy to clarify. For context: I booked a lash tint & wax and brow lamination. After chatting with the technician, we walked through my options and she recommended skipping the brow lamination since my wedding was only ~2 weeks away and suggested doing a simple brow tint and wax instead. Just to ensure I felt the most comfortable leading up to the big day. I appreciated the honesty, so we adjusted the service while keeping the same appointment time and still doing the lash services. (For the record, my technician was GREAT!) What bothered me was still being charged $125 + $28 for the lash tint, even though a brow tint and wax is $50. It's not like I was trying to shortchange anyone. The only difference was not doing the brow lamination, which was the most expensive part, and the change was based on the technician's own recommendation. It just feels like basic fairness. When I go in for a haircut, I may book a full session in case we decide to add highlights, but if we end up only doing a single process, my colorist doesn't charge me for highlights I didn't get, since we work together to see what we are feeling for color/cut, etc. That seems reasonable. The front desk's attitude didn't help either. That's the most annoying part and probably being blocked... As I mentioned previously, I won't be returning. Luckily, Chicago has plenty of other options. read more

When I first walked in, I felt like I was being transported. The sensory vibes were perfection. The lighting, music, temperature, the essential oils, the warm towels and steam, not to mending the heated bed, blankets and cushy knee pillow made me truly feel suspended in a warm nest and leaving the outside world behind. Lina's products and techniques can l eansed,exfoliate and moisturized my skin making it feel so smoothed, rejuvenated and cared for. Lina's demeanor and voice added to the calming environment. I went in there to get sugared and they just so happen to be on ClassPass so I used it from there which I love because I feel like I didn't really pay for anything! I did get to my appointment early and I got Seen early which was nice and it went pretty quick! The last time I got a Brazilian sugar It took forever at a different place it took forever so the fact that this appointment was only 15 minutes I love! I can't remember the person who serviced me name, but she was really nice. We had a great conversation. They had their fragrance candle on throughout the store and it smells really good. I'm have to go back to buy one because I forgot to do it. Was right by the green line which was nice. And the easy for commuters to get to. read more

DO NOT get a spray tan here. I regularly get spray tans and decided to try a new place and could not regret it more. By far the worst tan I've ever gotten. I'm very familiar with how to prepare for and take care of a spray tan, so this was not an error on my end. I requested a medium/dark tan. And my entire body is the exact same color I walked in with (after 10 hours). Except for my hands and feet. They are a beautiful color but are sprayed so bad, it almost seems like a bad joke. Really not sure how they can get away with charging $60 dollars for a spray tan that looks like someone did it with their eyes closed. I've attached pictures of what I can appropriately post. But if you're thinking of booking a spray tan here. DONT. 3 minutes in the sun with a UV rating of 1 will leave you with more of a tan and less of a hassle of having to hide your hands and feet. read more

I encountered several issues during my experience at the Wax & Skin Lounge. First, the consent form was confusing. The format and instructions could be much clearer, and when I expressed this concern to the receptionist, her attitude wasn't helpful or welcoming. Instead of offering assistance, she implied I must have done something wrong, when in reality, the form itself needed better clarity. After my waxing service, the new customer discount did not apply automatically--clearly a flaw with the website. Once the receptionist added it manually, the system proceeded to charge a tip without asking me how much I wanted to leave, automatically applying more than 15%. When I brought this up, she again made it seem like the issue was on my end, even though the payment device never gave me any tipping options. I had to tell her my preferred tip amount, which she claimed to adjust manually. However, I had my service in May, and the original (higher) amount was never corrected according to my bank. Additionally, I came in hoping waxing would help with ingrown hairs, which I struggle with. I asked my waxer, Bianca, whether waxing could worsen ingrown hairs. She confidently said no, even claiming her hair is "thicker and curlier" than mine and that she never has that issue. A week later, I had painful, infected ingrown hairs all over the waxed area. I followed the directions provided. I didn't use fragrance, or tight clothing, and I exfoliated For $80, I would not recommend this business to anyone. Despite the negative experiences, I'll admit the area waxed did look beautiful--at first--before everything went downhill. And the aesthetic of the lobby is really cute. read more

I went to get my brows and lip waxed. I scheduled my appointment 45 mins before I got there. It was nice to be able to get in quickly. I walked in and the studio was beautiful! As soon as I got there they took me back. The staff was very kind and asked me questions about my experience with waxing as well as wanting to know about me in general. They wanted me to be comfortable. The waxing wasn't as painful as other waxing I've had done before. They were quick and easy! My brows & lip are shaped and cleaned up very nicely. I had a brow laminate and wax done by Evy, I believe, a new esthetician to the Wax and Skin Lounge on their opening day. The esthetician was very nice and so was the front desk staff, but ultimately the service failed. I've had multiple brow laminates and waxes, but this was my first time at the Wax and Skin Lounge. I had high hopes and was excited to try them out because of the raving reviews from their original location, but will not be going back due to how they damaged my brows. The esthetician was quite rough on the skin around my eyebrows, as she kept wiping the laminate product off very aggressively throughout the service. She then used hard wax on my eyebrows a couple of times, but said it wasn't working and switched over to soft wax. I didn't realize it until about an hour later, but the skin on eyebrows was very irritated and red. Over the next several days, the skin was still red and painful, then just started to peel last night. The area is extremely dry--I've never had this happen from a wax. I think she essentially burned my skin off from all the irritation between wiping the skin so aggressively and waxing the area over and over again. The laminate was also a fail because my brows did not get laid properly or into any decent appearance. I believe this was due to the esthetician not leaving the product on my eyebrows for long enough and not taking the time to shape them. Ive been going to the Wax and Skin lounge Logan Square location for a few years now and was so excited when they opened their West Loop location. This is only a mile and a half from my house so getting there for an appointment is great for me. The location is in such a perfect spot- close to my gym, several coffee shops, restaurants, etc so its great to come in for a quick wax appointment and then run errands in the area. Parking is a bit of a challenge so try to make an appointment earlier in the day to find a good spot. Just like the other location, the decor is top-tier, incredibly clean, smells like fresh-cut flowers every time you walk in, excellent skincare products for you to purchase, etc. I get the custom facials with Lorrena and my skin is always glowing and soft every time I leave. I have been getting facials for 15 years now and this is hands down the best facial I have ever received. Lorrena is completely in tune with what each client's skincare needs are, the latest tools and technologies in advanced skincare, provides the best exfoliation that my skin has ever experienced, and works hard to make sure you are 100% satisfied after every appointment.
