I really like the way I was treated at TRiMM. Zac was my hairstylist and he was just very cool--- he listened a lot and was supportive of certain things I wanted help with (I have unusual hair). He tried to explain the things hairstylists look for when they evaluate someone's hair to be colored--- I like learning things! Also, very GOOD prices for the service--- for me that's paramount The other guy (Nolan?) was also very cool--- these kinds of things make a difference! PLUS: there is a dog named Fritz who gives you love . It was not a "pretentious" place yet it was sophisticated... Redken Shades EQ was what Zac toned my hair with and it looks good! Samara is an excellent stylist with over 35 years. During covid I watched her thoroughly disinfect. The salon follows protocall. This salon is one of the best of sb if not the best. Samara is excellent at color cut and blow dry as well as getting punk fun colors in if you want. she cuts hair with precision. my hair doesn't feel damaged. she used a styling serum that was amazing. it took 5 hours of her hard work and the price is well worth it. If you want someone whose got expertise go to her. Shes legit and authentic as they come. She even consults with you prior to making an appointment for free. Trimm is also very groovy and has neat artwork. Great location and easy street parking. Also plays a lot of good music while doing hair. I will continue to go to her..the integrity of my hair is great and shes got a lot of experience with cut and color. I love her and my hair looks and feels amazing!! read more

I love this salon! Sarah J is an amazing artist.. perfect cut and color every time. I used to live in SF and spend waaaay too much money at a high end salon. Over time my hair ended up getting completely fried from the products they used for my color. Sarah uses much more gentle products and recommends good home care based on hair type. Because of this, I've been able to grow my hair out much longer than I have ever been able to before, and it's healthy! Imagine that. All for a fraction of what I used to pay. I'd been dying my hair dark brown at home for about a year when I decided I wanted to go blonde again. This is a tricky task (especially since my hair turns orange very easily) and I was nervous to say the least. Nolan put in highlights to make my hair look naturally blonde again and he even made it look a little ombre like I was hoping! He walked me through what he was doing and corrected the inevitable hints of orange with a toner. I usually walk out of a hair salon wishing something was different but this experience was great! The price was extremely reasonable as well- less than I was quoted at Fantastic Sam's!! Marla usually does my hair, but she was on vacation at that time. She also does great cuts at very reasonable prices. The only complaint I have is that it takes awhile to get ahold of them to schedule an appt. I was lucky to find this place in the midst of all the other flashy salons in the area. While humble looking on the outside, you find its quite the opposite once you walk through the doors. Funky art, 80s music bumping, and the nicest hair stylists you'll ever meet. I had the newest member of the Trimm team, Chelsea, do my hair and let me just tell you she gave me the best blonde I've ever had. Usually I'm a beach blonde kinda lady, comparable to Miranda Lambert or Heidi Klum. This one around though I wanted to go beige blonde for winter like Taylor Swift is rocking right now. Yes, name dropping all over the place. Chelsea could tell right off the bat that I am very particular about my hair and so she knew the pressure was on. This place is great and you can't beat the price and service! I'm a natural blonde who has been self-coloring my hair for a year and generally relies on SuperCuts when I need a trim, so pampering is not something I do often. However, I hated my hair and needed a confidence boost. The reviews for this place were great so I gave it a shot to call at 2pm on a Saturday for a cut and color and made an appointment with Zack at 4pm. To be honest I am intimidated by a crowded salon with a chatty Betty judging my unkempt hair but this place was the polar opposite of that. I arrived about 10-15 minutes early and we got started right away. I had no idea what to do, what I wanted, or how to do it. I essentially told Zack to do whatever he wanted and he worked some magic. The color came out great and the cut he gave me was done with precision and care. Additionally, he's a cool guy who was easy to chat with. I love the ambiance of the place and will definitely be back. Edit: So, it's been a few months since I had my first color and cut here. I didn't think this great spot could get better, but it did! I had to make a weekday appointment with Zack and brought my 4 year old. It's impossible to get a kid to sit still for a couple of hours, but everyone in the shop was great. They interacted with her and gave me a few moments to enjoy and pay attention to my hair. Sara(h) and Shannon hung out while Zack diligently worked on my hair. I came out with a happy head and happy kid who can't wait to see her buddies again. I really can't recommend this place highly enough. All I can say is I love Marla. She is my hair superhero. As a kid I was seriously traumatized by a "haircut" experience. I don't do scissors. Marla was the first professional I entrusted my hair to- almost a decade ago - have since only seen two others & only because of the thousands of miles of distance between us. I would only recommend one hair salon in S.B. to anyone: Trimm. I went there every couple months for about two years; the only reason I don't go anymore is I moved out of the area. Brad is an awesome stylist and an awesome guy. The first time I went in to see him (on a friend's recommendation), I had never colored my hair before and didn't know a thing about it -- I had no idea how to tell him what I wanted, basically. Somebody had told me beforehand I should pick a photo of a girl with hair color I liked out of a catalog or magazine and bring it with me, so that's what I did. Brad replicated it precisely, and he did it again every single time I went in for touch ups. I'm sure all the other stylists are great, too, but I can say for sure that Brad knows what he's doing. And he's a great guy (doesn't try to make too much small talk, which is nice), he's fun to be around, and he does really awesome hair for a completely reasonable price. Trimm was opened by Nolan Brooks who used to work at salon Bamboo. I have been getting my hair done by Nolan since I was 16. He has always done a great job with the color. I am always getting people who ask me who does my color and I refer them to Trimm. Trimm salon is not located in a pricey area of town, which is why I think Nolan has kept his prices very reasonable for the services. After months of looking for a new hair dresser with reasonable prices I think I just found one. I am from the bay area where people charge ridiculous amounts to get your hair colored so I thought id try trimms as I was down here visiting friends for Halloween weekend. Not only did was Nolan quick with doing my hair, he knew exactly what I wanted. I went from a bright blonde that was beginning to look very brassy and he transformed my hair into a beautiful dirty blonde. Since then I've been getting complements from everyone. Nolan is an awesome hairdresser! He begin cutting my hair around 2001-2002. I followed him when he changed salons. He cut my hair for about five years while I was attending UCSB. Since then, every time I come to Santa Barbara to visit I have him cut my hair. I have yet to replace him since 2005. I always felt great when I left his chair! I recently visited this past weekend 4/14/12 and Nolan washed and styled my hair for a night on the town. He made my hair look great and it made me miss him cutting my hair even more. A haircut to remember and go back for more! I was a walk in client 10 years ago at the salon Nolan worked at before venturing out on his own and opening Trimm. He was so attentive and obviously skilled and I felt confident that I was in good hands from the beginning. The satisfaction I had with my haircut, followed by the compliments after have made me a loyal client. I have seen his amazing color transformations as well with other clients. I happen to love my natural color, so I won't be doing that, but if I did I would trust Nolan without reservation to work his color magic. I am moving from Santa Barbara in a few weeks and one of my stresses about moving is not having Nolan to trust with my hair. He truly cares about you and and wants you to look and feel good. And he has the extra touch to do that. I will not move away without getting one more haircut from Nolan. So... ima make this very short and simple just got a haircut from this place, thought I would check it out because of the great reviews of yelp.. worst haircut of my life.. it seemed like the hair stylist had no idea what she was doing. My hair is completely uneven. So bad I actually felt like crying and I am a 20 year old guy. I went to a different barber shop later that day so they could shave my head. Maybe they cut women's hair really nice but guys do not come here unless you want people laughing at your haircut. read more
