This restaraunt it is in the basement of an office building and is completely invisible from Richmond Street. I walked by twice before I figured out where it was. The restaraunt isn't fancy. It's clean, simple and friendly. Th food didn't disapoint. I ordered the goat roti. The balance of spices was excellent. The pieces of goat we're flavourful and succulent. We were driving from Michigan and showed up early the day after the owner had returned from a visit to Trinidad. There was a "Closed" sign up as he was preparing to get things in order after being away for long. However, he was kind enough to welcome us in and prepare the doubles we wanted. It's a shame this place is in the basement of an office building, because it's easy to miss if you don't know it's there. Despite that, this place almost always has a line at lunch. The food is great, from the Cheddar Jalapeno soup, to the burger specials, the fries with horseradish sauce, and the roti. It just feels like they care a lot about their product. The prices can be a bit high for a quick lunch, but the portions are generally pretty big (especially the roti - easily 2 meals) - though they've definitely decreased the sizes a little since they've opened. The staff is all very friendly and service is great. The fries and homemade horeradish sauce are both amazing. I generally go for the specials for $6.95, which they post daily on Facebook and Twitter, as the regular menu is a little rich for my wallet (about $10-12). Lots of authentic Trini food, roti, doubles, etc, and lots of standard Canadian food on the regular menu. Their specials can be anything from burgers (usually Tuesdays), to pasta, to fish and chips (usually fridays) or chimichangas (some Wednesdays). I definitely notice a pattern with specials but I'm not sure they have an actual schedule. Despite the place always being busy at lunch, I've never waited more than 5 minutes for my food here, so it's a good option for lunch instead of fast food. We always get our food to go, but they do have ample seating both inside and in the atrium. Parking outside is unfortunately pay (unless you can find street parking or don't mind parking a block away). I feel like most customers work in the vicinity so it's mainly foot traffic. I believe they also have a loyalty program, something like buy 8 meals and get one free. Overall I'll continue to go back often and support this place, as it's a great local business and I hope they do well in the future. read more

Best Roti in town! They specialize in Trinidadian cuisine but offer other intercontinental items. There is something for everyone...if you want to explore a new type of cuisine try the curry goat roti. If you want to go with something that your comfortable with go with the wraps, jerk chicken or burgers that they offer. I personally go there for the Roti because they make it the authentic way. Most places Caribbean places in London just put one curry in it giving you that same flavour from every bite you take. But in an actual roti it's supposed to have other curries in it so every bite you take is different. The meat rotis have your choice of meat curry ( goat, chicken, beef, duck) with a squash curry, spinach curry and potato/ chickpea curry. Before wrapped they are topped off with tamarind sauce for a sweet flavour & hot sauce according to your liking. Each of the different curries mixed in the roti give it a unique flavour wanting you to comeback for more! The price is affordable $10 but your also paying for the quantity which is ALOT. If you want a quick snack try their doubles! Two round soft pattys deep fried and stuffed with a sweet chickpea curry, tamarind sauce and cucumbers! Kind of like a burger but smaller and more flavourful! The service is also fantastic they give you samplers to try some of the things and the owner is a very outgoing guy. read more

If you look up the term 'hidden gem' in the dictionary it actually shows a picture of Triniman Kitchen. It boggles my mind that thousands of people walk by this place and don't even know it's there. Including you. Well, until now. It's in the basement of the Selby building and is 100% worth a visit. That being said, lineups during lunch are to expected and anticipated. While best known for the authentic and amazing Trini food such as roti and doubles they also offer fries, breakfast, burgers an the like. You should expect to have you tastebuds delighted and stomach filled for about $10 -- including drink. The staff are super friendly and the service prompt and attentive. Their is seating provided both within the restaurant as well as the adjoining atrium. This place is super casual and the food super great - a winning combination in almost anyone's opinion I suspect.
