Trio Cafe is great. My two friends and I went for lunch. We shared 2 salads (tuna nicoise and the shrimp and mango salad) and the sweet potato fries. I also had a watermelon juice. Was looking for a nice place for a cafe lunch in Bondi and turned to trusty Yelpers to find the perfect spot. Did not disappoint! It's slightly more upscale than a cafe, IMHO (think white linen napkins kind of place) with prices to match and food that's totally worth it. I had a freshly-squeezed juice of my choosing from the menu (love that) and BF enjoyed the "alkalizing greens" drink. For mains we chose to split the BBQ Pulled Pork Eggs Benedict and the Tagliatelle with King Prawns. Both dishes were to die for. They only get dinged a star for two reasons: the egg dish was semi-cold by the time it came to our table, and there were only 3 prawns in a dish that cost $28. It's easy to get used to hipster cafés that offer nonchalant service and mediocre skills in the kitchen. You may even convince yourself that somebody then are quite good. That is of course till you have breakfast at Trio. Even when this place is heaving and busy you feel special. The staff are gregarious and apologetic if you can't be seated immediately. And when you are seated they are attentive to your slightest look of neediness. The coffee is not amazing bit it is always consistent and that says a lot about their barristas. The menu is well thought out and although it has a Mediterranean influences menu you never feel like the staples are far away. I could harp on and on. Only place is bondi that combines great food, a view and you can also make a booking which is pretty much unheard of around bondi! Such a good cafe. Friendly staff and great food!! We pre-booked which I recommend as waiting for a table can be up to 40 mins. The food and coffees came out quick, lost a star because the table water was warm!! Looked lovely but some ice thrown in even would have been very nice. Forget the name of the waiter that served us but she actually went out the back to the kitchen and asked the chefs if there were any 'old' shakshouka jars we could take (still in perfectly good use, still 6 months to go on the best before) . Per all the Yelp reviews, I ordered the red and green Shakshouka which I thought was just ok. Nothing too amazing as I've had much better before. Bondi's best breakfast? Definitely! I was lucky enough to live in Sydney for just over 2 years and did my compulsory stint as a Bondi resident. That was 3 years ago now and I still long for a Mediterranean breakfast - particularly 'the morning after' Poached eggs with truffle oil on olive sourdough, char-grilled haloumi, crispy pancetta, semi-dried tomatoes, spinach & chorizo - Yep, wet keyboard!! They serve large jugs of water with long sprigs of fresh mint in, which is such a nice, subtle touch. It's not cheap and you'll need to book if you want a weekend fix - but man, it'll be so worth it! read more

Whatever time you drop in Trio's extensive menu will serve up something for everyone. My favourite is the fruit platter - which is huge! - and accompanied by delicious passionfuit yoghurt. It's the perfect meal for the beachside location - just add the sunshine. If you're after something more substantial the brunch bruschetta of poached eggs, goats cheese, tomatoes and spinach is delicious and if you're feeling a little weary from the night before you can't go past the big breakfast. The music is always good and the staff - a steady supply of travellers - are super friendly and efficient. This place is a MOST! I have tried the inner city Bondi Beach breakfast places the food was not as well prepared as Trio.

Trio was one of the top rated brunch spots on Bondi, so I walked over there to see if it was truly worth the hype. I ordered the french toast, it had raspberry and apple compote on top. I'd say there was wayyyyy too much raspberry. The entire piece of bread was covered giving off a very tart taste. I ended up scraping most of it of, so I could enjoy the rest of my brunch without scrunching up my face. Cool waitress. Cool spot. Clean bathrooms. I'd go back for sure, I just didn't quite think the french toast needed that much raspberry read more

Trio had me at spinach and tomatoes. As our group walked down the promenade at Bondi searching for a brunch spot the plates here caught my eye. I am a total sucker for spinach and it looked so tasty accompanied by whole roasted cherry tomatoes. 'Yes, we would eat here' I thought and quickly got consensus from the group. Within 20 minutes, pretty good for a busy Sunday, we were sat at an outside table overlooking the beach. Perfect! I was even more impressed that during the ordering process the waitress offered to customize my meal. NO ONE WOULD DREAM OF DOING THIS voluntarily in Singapore. I was flabbergasted and so pleased to get exactly what I wanted: eggs Benedict with those spinach and tomatoes. I then proceeded to order my usual assortment of breakfast beverages: iced mocha (amazing) and wildberry caipirinha. Little did I know we got the added bonus of a free bottle of wine (thanks Citibank) which made my caipirinha a little ridiculous and the small table very crowded. SIT IN ... the quintessential Bondi Beach cafe, with French doors ajar, gentle airy sea breeze and a spectacular view of blue ocean waves. Of course, Sydneysiders know Mother Nature can be a bitch, and she is fierce. So don't suffer the hordes of beach fanatics this place sees on a weekend morning unless you are guaranteed the Platonic oceanside experience upon seating. Luckily, I was, and even more luckily, a few tables opened up as soon as my buddy and I arrived, so no waiting :) NIBBLE ON ... marginally better breakfast offerings (available all day), for a marginally higher price. It's perfect for the Eastern Suburb denizen, who fancies himself / herself marginally better than everyone else because he / she has a few extra Aussie coins in the pocket. (Note that in giving this place 4 stars, I don't count myself as a citizen of the ES, though I don't rule it out as a subconscious aspiration). The boss eggs ($22) hit the spot if you're on the prow for an eggy option, with truffled eggs and ... well I could go on, but you heard me say truffle, right? Another great option is the green shakshouka ($19) (aka green eggs ... Dr. Seuss would be proud), the tang supplied by green tomatoes and the slight bitterness of green capsicum. Wonderful for those who like things a bit more tart than earthy. It comes with thick, soft Turkish bread and hummus, perfect for dipping. And if you've got a sweet tooth, give the mango and lime buttermilk pancakes ($18) a go. IMBIBE FROM ... carafes with water and what I thought might be mint sprigs, but I tasted no mint, so the green was purely decorative. My mate said the coffee was spot on, but I didn't try it. TALK TO ... the gorgeous, insanely friendly waitresses. Bondi Beach's service industry has two types of people: amazingly pretty things, who, because their customers forget to be rude or demanding when staring at them, have no reason to be anything other than super-nice and accommodating. Then there are The Others, who long ago gave up trying to keep up with their beautiful brothers and sisters and tend to be ugly both on the outside and inside. Thus, the key to getting good service is hitting up places with beautiful service staff. I don't know who does the hiring at Trio, but he / she did a damn FINE job. When I can't decide between the green shakshouka and the regular shakshouka (which comes with a smoked red tomato ragout and is sweeter), my quite-attractive server is kind enough to mention an off-the-menu, equally priced option of a "shakshouka sampler," which comes with smaller servings of BOTH. As mentioned above, the green rendition wins my heart, but so does the server who takes the time to mention the choice. When my buddy asks for more hollandaise sauce to go with his eggs benny because he's loving the poached eggs, the server comes back not only with an extra saucer of sauce BUT ALSO two extra poached eggs, on the house. How EGGs-ellent is that? Overall, better than average food for slightly more bucks. Worth a try, but not a huge wait. P.S. - I don't get the appeal of the triangle design the cafe uses, a symbol oddly evocative of the Eye of Providence, and something you'd be apt to see on a management consulting presentation. Someone should get them a new marketing team, though, given the crowds they already have, maybe not. read more

Wide variety and interesting menu, definitely different to your usual cafe which is great. Service was great and quick.. However the food is so astronomically overpriced, I probably haven't felt this ripped off over a meal in a while. I balled out and got the Mediterranean Breakfast for $27, expecting something fabulous, and I got a hugeeee plate half empty, with a few different items scattered across the plate, nothing more exciting that I'd prepare for myself at home regularly. In fact, I'd probably make it better if I were to make it myself. Yeah, on that note, probably won't return.
