I went back three times to get the haircut fixed as one side was longer than the other. I filed a dispute with my credit card company, she appealed and we went back and forth until my credit card company ruled in my favor. My review is solely for the treatment I received over the phone by Lynn Harkins. I don't leave negative reviews as a rule, but the conversation I had with her with just unacceptable. I'd purchased a Groupon for her salon several months ago and, even though it expired, it's VERY clear in the terms that you can always use the amount you've paid towards the full-priced service. (From Groupon: "Never fear! You can still redeem your Groupon at Lynn Harkins at TRIO Salon, Spa, & Boutique for the $89.00 you paid, from now to eternity.") I explained this to her very clearly when I called her, and she balked and said, "I'll have to check into that, because I don't think I can process the voucher." After reading the terms to her directly from the Groupon site (why didn't she know the terms of the Groupon she'd offered?) she finally said, "Oh okay, I think you can just use the amount you paid towards the full-priced service." Yes, that's *exactly* what I had started out by saying! I don't know why it was so confusing for her. I was in NO way trying to get the Groupon-priced service, but I paid $89 for the Groupon, so I was at least trying to get credit for money I've already spent. After that was established she began (begrudgingly) to ask me about my hair. I have NEVER had a stylist EVER say to me, "Oh, I'll have to think about that," when I have described my hair. I said my hair is fine and thin, and I have colored it myself, and used colorists (I have always switched it up that way, and I'm in my 40s -- and most of my friends do the exact same thing!) but that no stylist has ever said, "This is a disaster!" or had trouble with it. She still kept hemming and hawing, and I finally said, "You know what, just forget it." Because how could I possibly go and get my hair done by her at this point? It's a very personal service, and I don't want her feeling like I've somehow "forced" her to work with my hair (or worse, for her to intentionally mess my hair up because she resents that I have the NERVE to actually get credit for the $89 I spent with her!). The only bright spot is that I actually DID let this Groupon expire, so I never had the displeasure of having my hair treated by someone with such poor ethics and business practices. I hope she enjoyed pocketing the money I paid to her in exchange for absolutely nothing. (Side note: Groupon would do nothing for me, and they wouldn't even allow me to leave her public feedback on the Groupon site, only private feedback. So, I guess Groupon is off my list of services to use too! There is simply no excuse for bad customer service. It literally has been a couple weeks since a full platinum weave ??? So after 3 visits $380 no platinum the roots have never been done .. no contact from owner or Lynn the stylist .. I am beside myself .. Lynn stated she was doing a correction from last job well I am saying I need my money back so I can get it fixed from the broken off .. orange brassy mess she made of my hair !! This is the worst hair I have ever had the worst customer service and the most expensive!!! I put a complaint in to the BBB we shall see. And "kudos" to Lauren, who (when answering the phone) takes extra care listening to new clients so to match us to a stylist that can do the job. My hair is course and straight and needed the talent of a stylist like Seemien, who knew from her experience that texturizing the volume and shape of my difficult hair would make me look fabulous. This is a really nice salon with a great atmosphere. It's pretty spacious, which is nice in that you don't feel like everyone is crammed in and you can actually have a nice conversation with your stylist without everyone overhearing you. I had Erik cut my hair and he did a fantastic job. I'd previously had a bad haircut with some bi-level layering and he leveled it all out so that I could wear it sleek or more tousled and layered and it looks great. I was even able to blow dry my own hair the day after and have it look *almost* as good as it did when I walked out of the salon, that's how great the cut was. I could only make it look as good as he did if I had three arms, to be honest. I'd totally recommend this salon and Erik specifically. Great technical cuts that work well with your hair's texture, body, etc. p.s. They also give you wine/beer/water/coffee to enjoy during one of your services. p.p.s. First haircut since I moved here 3 years ago. Erik cut my hair and although it's not the absolute best haircut I've gotten, it was definitely very nice. The top was a tad too short for my taste even though I stressed I had liked to wear my hair "full and spiked"; but I assume he was trying to cut out some damage. He took his time, was pleasant and moderately competitive with pricing. This place isn't the best priced in town, but I'd pay what I need to in order to have a professional do my hair. When I first walked in, I wasn't sure I was at a salon that would fit my style. I had no idea what I was in for since I just walked in with no idea of what this place was like. But I quickly felt at ease when the front desk receptionist was super helpful and really nice. So I made an appointment. I had Craig do my hair. He was great! He was very professional yet fun to chat with. He listened to what I wanted and in the end he asked me if my hair cut felt like me. I was pleased with that fact he cared at all. My experiences with other places is that they cut your hair how they think it should be, and he didn't do that at all. He pays very close attention to detail and took his time. DO NOT go to Shelby hazenberg at Trio Salon and Spa. I paid a TON of money and My extensions are shedding like crazy ( up to 50 strands a day) and bonds are constantly falling out. she will not give me any kind of refund. She offered to "fix" my unfixable hair which I do not trust her to do for a third time. She also waited until I was already in her chair, hair already getting worked before bringing up extra incurred charges to my service (for things other stylists include in original quote) on top of the already sizable amount she originally quoted me. I don't mind paying for a service that's done well but not only is the hair bad quality but so is the placement, application, etc. I am now scrambling to find someone to fix it before my wedding. What kind of business does that to someone and treats their customers like this? I made a HUGE mistake so please no one else do the same. I am extremely disappointed in my trip to Alla at Trio Salon. i do not have a regular stylist so I purchased a LivingSocial for a cut, color, and highlights to try Alla's services. The first red flag I should have been wary of is that I tried to schedule with her via her website and I never heard back. Giving her the benefit of the doubt, I called the salon to schedule. On the day of my appointment Alla brought me back about ten minutes late. She made a few rude comments about the state of my hair, but I chalked it up to being brutally honest. I showed her 8 pictures of the look I was going for. Part of the look was highlights, which make me nervous because they can look very stripey and unnatural, so I expressed those fears to Alla. I wanted a natural, non-stripey look. Alla told me a base color close to my natural color with a bit of red would be good for me, which I agreed, and off she went. I am a naturally curious person and I asked questions about what kinds of techniques she was using, and she seemed irritated by my questions. After she rinsed my hair I was a bit nervous because the highlights looked VERY light, but I figured she would probably tone them down to be closer to the base color (to make it look more NATURAL). She dried it and asked what I thought. I immediately burst into tears. My roots were BRIGHT red (not my natural color with a bit of red, like she said) and the highlights were nearly white and very stripey looking. She said there was no reason to cry and threw some color on to "tone" the highlights down, and I'm not sure that actually did anything. Also, there was a ton of color on my face, ears, and neck. She tried to scrub it off but chalked it up to me having absorbent skin (this has never happened to me before). By this point, our appointment had run about 15 minutes over and Alla's next appointment was sitting directly behind me, glaring at me through the mirror. I was so upset that I tipped her (stupid, I know) and ran from the salon. I worked up the nerve to call the salon to say that I was unhappy, I literally got the opposite of what I asked for (stripey and very unnatural). Lisa, one of the owners, was nice enough and offered to have Alla call me. Unfortunately, Alla and I are both busy so we ended up talking via text, which is fine. We ended up scheduling a correction appointment for TWO WEEKS later. I waited the two weeks and drove to the salon for my 10:00 appointment. I checked in and waited . . . and waited. The receptionist finally asked me who I was supposed to see and I said Alla. She said that I was not on the schedule and Alla was not even in the salon. I asked as politely as I could to see the manager. I cannot remember who this manager was (it was not Lisa), but she was extremely rude about the situation, even though I had tried to explain the situation as calmly and nicely as I could. She informed me that she could not give me a refund because Alla is an independent contractor of the salon and asked if I could come back. I said no and left crying, again. At about 1:30 the salon called and said "Actually your appointment is at 3:00." I know this is a blatant lie. Alla and I scheduled VIA TEXT, so there was no excuse for "mis-scheduling" me; besides, I had already driven 30 minutes there and 30 minutes back once that day. I told the receptionist that I would not be there at 3:00 and to please have Alla call me so we could discuss her refund policy. The next day I received an email from Alla asking for my address so she could send a refund check. Awesome. I sent it to her and two weeks later I got a check in the mail for less than half of what I paid for the LivingSocial deal. She used the excuse of a lame LivingSocial policy, but I really think she should have dug into her own pockets and refunded me in full for her reprehensible, unprofessional behavior. I know a lot of people like Alla, but it seems she cuts corners for those of us who aren't paying her full price, so beware if you have a discount for her services. I am thoroughly unimpressed with the skills and professionalism of Alla and of Trio Salon. All of my friends now know to steer clear of this place. read more

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Trio and Alla. I arrived at 9:20 am for my 9:30 appointment and walked out of the salon at 10:00 am without one interaction with Alla. After asking a few times if she was running late, or how much longer I could expect, I was continuously brushed off with "a few more minutes." Finally after waiting for 40 minutes, I let the receptionist know that I could not wait any longer and had to leave. She could not have cared less. Not once did Alla come out into the waiting area to apologize for running late and I did not receive a phone call afterwards. Needless to say, I will not be rescheduling. read more

Please don't go here! I purchased a groupon for Glow Aesthetics within this Salon for a Facial Detox. I used my GPS to find the salon and it took me to a different location. So, I used the GPS on my smart phone and that took me to an incorrect location as well. I called the salon and left a voice-mail saying that I was running late because I couldn't find the salon. I asked for directions and also mentioned that if there was someone scheduled after me, I'd like to re-schedule so that I could enjoy the whole appointment. About 5 minutes later my call was returned and I was given directions and encouraged to come in for my apt. I arrived and was rushed into the room to start my facial. I had no idea what was involved in the Detox as the aesthetician to too busy scolding me for being late to tell me what she was doing. By the end she asked me what skin care products I use, which she immediately bashed, followed by some quick high-pressured sales pitch for her own products. I found it to be extremely unprofessional. And did I mention my facial was not even 20 minutes? The entire experience was horrible. Maybe I was being treated second-class because I was a groupon holder and I realize most businesses lose money on these, but come on! I will never ever go back and hope anyone reading this spends their money at one of the other hundreds of salons out there. This one is not worth it. read more
