Scheduling is a nightmare!!!!! I have had my appointment lost twice here when talking with a real person. They change schedulers here almost monthly as there is someone different each time I go in. I love Brit, but the headache with scheduling has become too much and I am questioning my loyalty. I do not appreciate scheduling my work day around an appointment only to be told that they don't even have me on the calendar. I've really hesitated to write this review - because I hate being "mean" - but I'm going to in order to hopefully prevent others from suffering my fate. I hadn't gotten my eyebrows done in over two years due to Covid, and I loved how thick they were, albeit a bit overgrown. Prior to Covid, I lived on the east coast, and had a lovely esthetician who did my brows perfectly. After reading the reviews here, I decided to take the plunge and make an appointment with Grace for eyebrow tweezing and tinting. When I arrived, I told Grace about my prior horrible experiences of people taking off too much of my brows, and how difficult it was for me to trust anyone to not butcher them. I showed Grace a picture of my brows when they were perfect. I told Grace that I just wanted my brows trimmed a little and then some of the hairs on the bottom that were clearly not a part of my brow removed. We discussed thoroughly that I am into a "natural" look. Grace complimented me on my eyebrows before beginning, noting they were full with a nice shape. Then the process started - Grace began by tweezing the top of my brows. I stopped Grace to ask what she was tweezing up top, and informed her that normally I have always left the tops of my brows alone. Grace assured me it was just vellus hairs. When Grace showed me one completed eyebrow before moving on to the next, it looked heartbreaking thin, but at that point it was too late to grow back what had been removed. So I let Grace finish, gaslighting myself into believing they would be ok. Once I got into my car and saw the damage I cried. It's been several weeks and it will be several months (AT LEAST) before my brows are anywhere near their former glory. Here's the thing. It's common sense to be *very clear* with clients about what part of their eyebrow you intend to remove. It's also common sense to undergroom vs overgroom because only one can be fixed. Lastly, it's 2022, overgroomed eyebrows are NOT the trend. ESPECIALLY when it's thoroughly discussed what the client wants and that they are going for a NATURAL look. That aside, Grace is a very kind individual. Unfortunately I'm permanently traumatized and will never let any human touch my eyebrows ever again. read more

In short: Pretty sterile and cold vibe. More expensive than it should be and slow/inefficient. In detail: The receptionist is off-putting and she takes 10 minutes just to check the estheticians' schedules for any available and then gets up and asks them if they're available for my eyebrow wax ...why on earth do they have an online appointment system and an appointment book if the receptionist has to do this EVERY TIME and so slowly?! I've been quite a dew times now and it is always empty with one or two estheticians working and no clients. Any small hair/nail salon can do what they do twice as fast and be cheaper. read more

Bottom line.... GO TO KAITLYN AT BRIDGEPORT!! I haven't let anyone touch my brows but myself in 8 years.... TBH I was scared of going to anyone else after some serious disasters over the years. However after realizing I had over tweezed and shaped my brows too thin over time, I made the choice to grow them out and go to Kaitlyn Zenger. Normally I would just grow them out and reshape them again myself, however Kaitlyn's reputation of being an amazing eyebrow specialist has grown tremendously since meeting her in school. I knew she was the one who could help me and I could trust her to do what I needed with no traumas. I went to beauty school with her and she's always been known to be a wizard with waxing...specifically eyebrows even from the first service she performed on a client. Eyebrow shaping really is an art and not everyone can do it right...even after good training. She is a complete natural at it and does it in a way that is less painful than anyone else I've ever had wax me. She's incredibly thorough, friendly and professional. She even gave me some great recommendations to help me with my brow journey. I honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience. Since I've gone to school and know proper sanitation protocols I'm super conscious of infection control and cleanliness. Everything from the time I walked in to the time I walked out was spot on and on par or above state regulations. That in itself should sell you on this place as at least 80% of other places that offer waxing services aren't abiding to sanitation regulations, don't practice proper infection control protocols and/or use subpar products. When you're dealing with waxing and vulnerable skin you NEED to be knowledgeable and aware of what to look for and know you're in a clean place. I can't recommend Kaitlyn enough. I didn't even know I could have such a nice clean shape, these are seriously the best I've ever had my eyebrows without makeup. I'm in utter shock on the magic she did with the mess I gave her to work with. My grown out brows were pretty tricky to shape a good eyebrow out of. read more

I first spotted Brow Betty shortly after they opened, on my occasional lunch trips to the adjacent Noah's Bagels. Because I had already established relationships with Urban Waxx, then Wax On in Portland, I hadn't ever set an appointment with Brow Betty, although I remained intrigued with this tiny waxing salon. Then last week, out of desperation due to the inability to schedule a brow appointment in Portland due to time constraints, I made a same day appointment with Brow Betty, which is located in the general vicinity of my office. After entering the spa, I had it in my head that I would not return because I did not care for the communal set up of the facial waxing area, which is slightly visible from the waiting area. But, after experiencing the best, most detailed brow wax ever from Teri, I know that I will be back. I was so incredibly impressed with Teri's skills. After she was done, my brows looked like I had always envisioned them, but other waxers had not quite been able to achieve. The proximity of Brow Betty to my office means that I can get my brows done during a lunch break instead of on my way home after work or on the weekend. As an aside, service was very friendly, and they have a line of excellent brow grooming products...everything from brushes to brow makeup. Yes...this definitely a little gem of a waxing salon in my book. read more

I stand by my review 100%. Just because it's been 8 months since I have been there doesn't mean that my review isn't accurate to my experience. First off, I was never offered anything to drink. Urban Waxx offers tea, wine, water. They also have snacks (trail mix). Second is the lighting. Bright offensive lighting when your being waxed is not enjoyable. Urban Waxx has very soft light and they have a little light they can use when needed. It's still not as bright as BB. I'm sure the girls that work at BB are lovely. I just didn't feel very welcome or comfortable there. When I go to Urban Waxx they treat each customer like they are royalty. Very friendly, interested in what the customer has to say, and makes me feel at home. You can tell that the girls at UW really love their jobs. I just didn't get that feeling from BB. I hope this explains more of my opinion of BB. I'm by no means trying to put anyone out of business. I think it's important to review all places good or bad. This is only my opinion. Another AWESOME experience at BB! I was back up in the Portland area again last week and made a special trip to see these ladies as they are hands down the BEST estheticians in the business. They are truly gifted, and the owners are incredibly lucky to find such a fab group. If you want cheap, double-dipping wax pots and breakouts, by all means get your brows done at your local hole-in-the-wall, but $20 is pretty standard (if not even on the less expensive side) for this kind of quality work and products, and I am happy to pay it plus tip. I don't know what some people are smoking when they complain about the "walk-ins welcome" policy. I guess it is a new concept for some. It means you are welcome to come in without an appointment, but by no means is it a guarantee of service right when you walk in. Kinda like going to a restaurant and not having a reservation and having to wait for a table. I know it is hard to understand, but give it a shot. Sheesh. Also, I think it speaks volumes to their professionalism if they are taking time for a consultation for first time visitors. They are putting hot wax on your skin! It is probably a good idea for them and YOU to have a discussion with you first about allergies, medications, etc. or anything else that might affect you. Also, don't you want to talk about what it is you want? I doubt that they, or anyone is in the business of making an appointment time longer for the hell of it. If you are in a time crunch, call ahead and make an appointment if you don't want to chance waiting - I'm sure they would be able to work something out with you no problem! I've been to Brow Betty about 10 times and have only had positive experiences, so I'm surprised by the negative reviews My skin is sensitive, so they have to wax and do tweezing under the brows. Each time they accommodate my special requests. I've had 4 or 5 different waxers although now I'm sticking with Olivia lately. Lemme see....instant coffee vs. premium latte. Well drink vs. top shelf. 4-cylinder vs. Turbo. That's the sort of epiphany, "a-ha" experience that Brow Betty provides. The kind that makes you realize that up until now, you didn't really know what a brow wax was supposed to be like. After countless slap-dash waxings with a little afterthought plucking at other salons, this place is a revelation. The aesthetician actually measured my face, discussed bone structure and mapped out the brow shape that was best for me. She was meticulous yet painless in the execution, working efficiently with the wax and then completing her vision with careful tweezing. Love the cooling gel she applied afterwards. Usually I've got the "guess what I just did" red marks, but not when I go to Brow Betty. As for my brows, they always look perfect no matter which technician I see (Four so far, and they've all been super nice). Even though I live downtown, this place is totally worth the trip and the (competitive) price. Me and my brows are believers. read more

From being greeted on time by Amber to sitting down with Aleah for my lash lift and tint to having a complete brow makeover with Britt, I felt comfortable and in good, professional hands. The two services took exactly the 90 minutes I was told it would take. Additionally, they will let one drop in for a quick clipping of errant brow hairs at no charge. I am happy with my results and look forward to returning for similar services. One caveat: when I booked the lash tint, I expected that it would be both upper and lower lashes. Aleah only had time for the lifting perm and upper lash tinting before her next client was there. I just have to remember to ask for both upper and lower next time. read more

I went to Brow Betty for the first time today. WOW! The esthetician, Olivia, did an amazing job. I think I may never let another person touch my brows again! She did a lot of prep work, scoping my messy and overplucked brows out, and planning just the right amount of take-off to make them look perfect. I love the astringent she applied when she was done--it smelled great! And my favorite thing? She patted on concealer to "cover up the redness" when she was done. No one has ever done that before! Brilliant--I didn't have to go out in the world with big red splotches around and under my eyebrows. Why in the world doesn't everyone do that? The best brow wax job ever. Seriously! I'll take her advice from now on: leave them alone and leave the plucking to the professionals. I've never been religious about getting my brows done regularly, but I'm going to turn over a new leaf. Stayed in the hotel near the shopping center "Brow Betty" is in and happened to see it. I was visiting my younger cousin at college and she was definitely in need of brow help. Walked in and made an appointment for the next day. The lady at the front desk was super nice and set it all up. Came in the next day, no wait time. The esthetician made sure to check what exactly my cousin was looking for with her brows and did a great job. Brows were perfect for her face and eye shape. I also noticed some of the other customers leaving and their brows were perfection as well. Price was a bit more than what I pay here in the Bay Area but I can understand that since this place is specifically for waxing and they did such a great job. Do not go here. I have been a couple times and called today to see if they could fit me in. They said they could and so I drove right over. I realized I was going to be a few minutes late so I called and told them I would be about five minutes late. They say sure no problem. I've come here for many year, I showed up at 12:45 for a 12:40 appointment (lack of parking available) checked in went to the bathroom came out and was told because I arrived at 12:49 they wouldn't do my brows.
