I was so disappointed with this salon. I came in on time for an appointment and was leaving after to get to my aunts memorial in SF. The "hot stone massage" was AWFUL. She put zero effort into massage with or without the hot stones. When I arrived they were rude and not at all kind. They didn't even tell me to have a seat, nothing. Then another woman came in and they treated her much nicer, and started her before me when I was clearly there first, and our appointments were for the same time. The pedicure was just mediocre. I asked for a no polish pedicure. The young woman who did it was great, she did a truly wonderful job. When I went to pay (according to the website the fee for a pedi is $25), I put $25 on the counter. The owner behind the counter said that would be $30 "non toxic"! I said I had NO POLISH. She kept saying non-toxic. How can you charge for NOT getting any polish and call that non-toxic? I didn't want to make a fuss, but I won't be going back to that salon. I'm sorry because the young woman who did the job was great. She had done the job once before for me, and at that time I was not charged extra for no polish. read more

I was nervous to book an appointment based on some negative reviews I read in the past regarding acceptance of Groupon's, but I want to be sure to express how accommodating and lovely they were to me and my daughter regarding our Groupon. Not only did they accept our Groupon graciously, Minh and Sung stayed late for us to accommodate our schedule, and after a long day working in a mask, I can only imagine how tired they must've been, yet nothing in our service was compromised. They were friendly, personable, did beautiful work. We got the added touch of the hot stone massage. It was short, but a really nice touch. I would do it again. It's a beautiful salon with a big sunny window and you can watch all the activity out on Miller Avenue while sitting in the spa pedicure massage chair. There was no uncomfortable side conversations, And the conversation we had felt genuine and was very pleasant. I can see why they have such a loyal following. This place just really bummed me out. I had been there once before and they were OK. So I had a friend come in to town and it was her birthday so I thought I would take her for a Mani/Pedi. Fun, right? Well we walked in and there was NO customers there. Whoever was there gave us a look like we were not meant to be there. I asked if we could have a mani/pedi and she said yes. But then she seemed all flustered. So, I asked her "Should we have made an appointment?" and she said "yes, yes, you need to make an appointment. Next time make an appointment". So again I asked "are you sure you can fit us in?' to which she said yes. I in no way wanted to inconvenience her so gave her the option of saying no more than once. But she assured us, in not the most friendly manner, that it was fine. So my first major issue is after all of this and the very reason I didn't call to make an appointment was because the last time I was there I noticed the WALK INS WELCOME sign plastered on their window. Well, the sign was still there. But obviously, walk ins are NOT WELCOME! Secondly, it just really took away what was meant to be a relaxing and fun experience by getting all this attitude. So anyway, we are getting our pedicure done and then their next appointment comes in. They then tell us we will have to wait for an hour for the manicure. I totally understand these other people had made their appointment but at this point I was so done with this place, as they had told us they COULD take us for a MANI/PEDI. If they had said no in the first place we would have just made an appointment for later or gone somewhere else. So on top of not being able to have a mani/pedi like they said and the half experience we did have being unfriendly and unwelcoming they then went and over charged us. Unfortunately it wasn't until I left that I realized they had charged us for a spa pedicure, which we had not asked for. And cost me more in the end as I had to go to another place for the manicure and missed out on getting a mani/pedi saving. Aaargh....the whole thing was just REALLY annoying! So anyway, it just left a real sour taste in my mouth and really bummed me out that a fun relaxing occasion with my friend became stressful. The one good thing to come out of it was that when needing to find a place to get our manicures done we found Theresa's Nails in down town Mill Valley. We were welcomed with smiles and they were just really lovely and did a great job. AND were cheaper. So from now on, that is where I will go! read more

I bought a Groupon for a mani pedi...I came in for my appointment and was out the door enraged within 30 seconds. The "salon" was completely empty at noon, I was extremely suspicious. The old woman who I assumed would have given me my mani pedi was rude and curt. She was going to charge me money to take off the color I had on and charge me a ridiculoios amount to get gel. I get mani/pedi's twice a month and no one had ever charged me to remove polish as a new customer. I am going to demand a refund from Groupon and I WILL NEVER step foot in Trio Salon again. I suggest you do not as well. Its no wonder the establishment was empty. read more

I have mixed feelings about this salon ... I had a mani/pedi, and was happy with the service; however, the lady kept picking, pulling and nipping at this one toe, which a day after the pedi has been hurting so bad, it is swollen and the tip of the toe is red. Definitely will not return. read more

Have been coming her off and on for a few years, but in the last year, things have gotten bad. Have finally had it. Despite the fact I ask every time for them NOT to dig under my big toenails, they attempt it anyway and get all pissy when I say stop. Like they know better. It was getting ingrown and infected from it. Now that I don't let anyone, much better. Went in for shellac toes. It was fine in general, but my toe nails were all different lengths and too short, too. It was the manicure that was really the issue. I had grown my nails out for 6 weeks for an event. I asked for only SHAPING, no CUTTING. She filed my nails down to flat and short. When she did about 3 that way and I noticed, I said stop, again with the piss attitude. She then asked me what " shape" meant......I showed her what I meant with an emery board, she grabbed it and attempted. It was unbelievable. Got up and left paying for my pedi only. I came to this Salon because I was in a lot of back pain and they offer massages as a service so, I thought I would give them a shot. I also went here because I didn't want to spend a ton of money on a message and they are basically the best deal in town. They charge 30 bucks for 30 minutes. I know cheap right? I was messaged by a sweet older lady named Helen and she did a pretty amazing job. I left the salon feeling relaxed and my pain was pretty much gone. Even so, the new owner, DID honor the $29 certificate for a deluxe mani-pedi without charging her the difference in value over the current pricing. This woman was rude with the owners for no reason. I was in the shop at the time at witnessed the exchange. So no, this did not happen as stated. The shop is well run by Mom and Daughter, both of whom are exceptionally polite and accommodating. This is just another example of someone trying to get something they are not entitled to and then complain when they meet the smallest resistance. I made the mistake of buying a Groupon for a mani-pedi at Trio. Unfortunately, there is nothing positive I can say about the women or their level of skill. It was the worst mani-pedi I have ever had and I've had hundreds. The manicurist did not speak or understand more than a few words of English (and none that I spoke) and filed my nails down 50%, after I said the length was fine. My cuticles are in worse shape than when I went in. It appeared that she has had close to no training. My toenails are all different lengths and filed crookedly. I needed to re-file before bed, so they wouldn't snag my sheets. The only positive was the paraffin treatment on my feet which was done by the man at the desk. He knew what he was doing and was very nice. There are so many nail salons, don't waste your time or money at Trio. read more

Dorothy, the owner, has a great personality...plafyul and joyous. This sets up the atmosphere there, which is homey . hometown . hang out . fun . chat it up . pamper yourself - it's fabulous. And they do a great job on their services. I have had everything done there from manicure/pedicure, to eyelash tint, to getting my hair dyed, and always including shoulder rub during my manicure. All the people who work there are friendly and professional. I have had so many great conversations with women I had never seen before. The prices are good too, and as a bonus, it is right across the street from Whole Foods, so it's one stop shopping. read more

I visited this salon and had the most horrible and painful experience. I had previously had a manicure at another salon who used dipping powder. I asked at Trio if they could soak it off and they said they could. However, the woman then refused to soak it off and proceeded to pick off the hard powder coating and it resulted in peeling off my natural nails, splitting them below the nail line, etc. I shrieked in paid a few times and asked her to soak them instead and she continued this painful process and just looked at me. I have never had such an experience after years of getting my nails done. And, this was all after having to wait 30 min even though I made an appt. read more

I go to Trio Salon on a regular basis since the ownership changed. I am very happy with their work. My nails and toes always look meticulous after I leave the shop. The owner is a young woman named Minh. She is polite, speaks English very well and is very professional. I told my nephew to go there for his haircuts since he was unhappy with his current stylist. Xuan is the hairdresser at the shop. My nephew was thrilled with the results. He was happily surprised at how great he looked for $ 25.00. They also do waxing, hair color and highlights. read more

This salon has gone downhill fast. The employees barely speak to you and are plain rude. I have had many appointments and still wait 15 or 20 minutes. OK, it happens. But once I was in a hurry and waited over 40 minutes. After 20 minutes, an employee said it wouldn't be too much longer. I waited another 20 minutes. They have NEVER apologized. The last few times the quality has gone WAY down. Many of my nails were chipped by the next morning. My last 3 massages were ridiculous. They put NO effort into giving a massage. They lightly massaged me and did it quickly. One lady next to me told the employee to keep massaging, she wasn't having it! Also, tired of them asking for cash for a tip. I want to go to a salon that is friendly and does a good job. I will never be back. There are much better salons in Mill Valley and Sausalito. The salon is tense. Employees look unhappy. Having your nails done is an unpleasant experience. Not a relaxing salon. read more

Whenever I'm in Mill Valley I make it a priority to get into Trio for a mani/pedi. It is without a doubt the best value I've ever found for a quality, efficient and relaxing mani/pedi experience. The salon is bright, airy and clean. They accept walk-ins, but I always make an appointment, because they get very busy. The polish selection isn't as vast as a lot of other salons, but their polish collection is wide enough to find what I like, and the quality of the polish is excellent. read more

I came here for a shellac manicure and a regular pedicure and overall it was just barely an ok experience. Though they were not busy at all with only one customer, I got the typical salon welcome when I walked in of "pick your color!" ... honestly, why can't these ladies say "hello, how are you? How can I help you?"!!! So much to ask I know. They started me with my pedicure in the message chair which can be nice but the massage chair seemed old and just shook and punched me rather than actually relaxing me. Plus, those chairs it's easy to worry if they have properly cleaned the water foot soak bath. For the pedicure, the lady seemed annoyed she was having to work therefore she didn't put a lot of effort into it. She spent more time cleaning polish off my skin! Made me worry about my manicure! The manicure was as expected ... spent more time and effort wiping polish off my skin. I asked for the French shellac and instead of painting on the white and then cleaning up the line with the extra brush (don't know what they call it!) she just used the white polish brush. The lines were not straight, did not go all the way to the edges, shall I continue?! The only nice thing that made it barely ok was the hand massage the lady gave me. I will continue to look for a friendly, nice, clean and attention to details type of nail salon. read more

I have been going to Trio in Mill Valley for about a year. It is under new management and what a change. The place is spotless and the staff is very attentive. Jenny does my nails and they are perfect. Minh is also an owner and she is so helpful making sure every client gets what they need. Kim is great at pedicures. I was going somewhere else, and here and there and then I found that this salon was under new management and gave it a try. What a difference. This is my go to salon for sure! Trio Salon is fantastic! After visiting once or twice, the owner remembered my name and exclaims with excitement every time I come in. That alone, is reason enough to go. The staff really cares about their customers and they spend a lot of time working on you. I always get pedicures. I feel like so many places rush through the job, but at Trio they really take the time to pamper you and do it right. I am always satisfied with the service I get there! Don't even want to give them one star! Worst salon ever for the kind of town we live in. I got a groupon and thought I'd get tested at a LIXURY salon. The women are rude and inconsiderate. I had to ask over 5 times for hot water in my toe tub and she still couldn't simply empty the cold water and replenish it with hot. Not that the hot water got cold but when she asked me to put my feet in, it was not even like warm! She didn't even give me a fan for my toes while I got my manicure I had to ask repeatedly. And what todo you know she let me leave with wet toes and they got messed up! Also to top it off I got the special pedicure with a mask and all she did was rub a blue lotion on my legs and feet. AND a woman came in 4 minutes late for her appointment and had to eat almost 20 minutes to get worked on. It's a worthless nail salon with the worst service ever! read more

Hands down my favorite nail salon in all of the Bay Area! I've been coming here for almost a year now and the non-toxic mani-pedi is my go to! Because of the non-toxic offer, it puts Trio Salon above the rest. They carry some wonderful luxury eco brands of nail polish, including Spa Ritual and Zoya. I recently brought my pregnant girlfriend here, so she could get her nails done without worrying about toxic chemicals going into her body. This is also a family owned and operated business nestled in the quaint and cozy little town of Mill Valley. I've been to so many nail salons throughout my life, some of which were dirty, but this lil spa is amazing. The technicians here are so sweet and they work very hard to make their customers happy. If a customer isn't happy it's more than likely because of their own problems, time constraints..etc. The music and decor create a wonderful, calming ambiance that just makes me totally relax. I guess a mani pedi just takes an hour and a half and I need to suck it up and deal with that. I had an appointment here for 9:30 (when they opened) and they were a wee bit late, which was a little vexing, but the ladies are really sweet, nice and very good at what they do. They have very nice modern spa pedi chairs. The french manicure I got was the best I've ever had - she had an interesting technique using a paintbrush with remover to remove the extra white polish that resulted in a really clean line. I hate to leave such a poor review but this was absolutely the WORST waxing experience I've ever had. I was looking for somewhere new to try that was local and figured it's great to be able to use a Groupon to try a place for the first time, hoping to find me new regular spot. Scheduling was a bit inflexible, but I was last minute so totally understood. When I arrived the woman who checked me in looked at me and told me I needed a manicure too...um, rude much? On to the service. The esthetician didn't introduce herself which I thought was odd for someone who is about to get into all your intimate parts, nor did she leave the room for me to get undressed or redressed. I also was unsure of where to put my clothes and wallet in such a tiny room and she didn't instruct me in any way. This was the most painful and unsanitary service I've ever had. I'm fairly certain I saw double (and triple and on and on) dipping and I definitely saw that she was using the same strip over and over. She did not pull my skin taut and did not use her hand to calm the sting after each pull. She went over and over the same areas until I thought my skin would rip off and even when I told her it was the most painful wax I'd ever had she tried to blame it on my pain tolerance level, but trust me, it's pretty high and I have previous experience to compare it to. Then she tried to tell me that it was extra to have everything removed to which I replied "I thought that's what a Brazilian was?" She grudgingly gave me what I asked for while trying to convince me the whole time to not get what I had come in for. If you don't want to do Brazilians, that's fine, don't offer them! But don't book it and then try to get out of doing it! Her "bedside manner" absolutely sucked too. I'd rather have no talk then small talk that you obviously aren't even paying attention to the answers of, absent mindedly asking them over and over again. If someone clearly is uncomfortable with your line of questioning/small talk, change tactics. The search will continue for a less painful, more hygienic and professional place to get my services. DO NOT recommend! Edited to add: Two days later skin is scabbed and peeling. To add insult to injury, she missed spots. Half tempted to report for unhygienic and unsafe practices. read more

This is the best pedicure I have gotten in Mill Valley! The salon was busy (which is always a good sign), but they were able to get me seated right away even without an appointment. It was tidy and I watched as they sanitized each foot bath very careful in between clients. They had a great selection of well organized polish colors. Now on to the actual pedicure. Great scrubbing and trimming of nails and cuticles without being rough. I almost fell asleep during the massage portion because it was so relaxing and lengthy. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!! I have been coming here for over 2 years since moving to Mill Valley. After my last experience I will NEVER go back. I made an appointment for a brazilian that day. They told me to go into room that it was ready. I sat there for about 5 min with pants off waiting... not that big a deal just a little uncomfortable. Then the owner - Dorothy came in... I was a little nervous because usually the other girl does my waxing but figured she was owner so she would be OK... I was wrong. Long story short she waxed a bikini wax and said all finished... I had to remind her I wanted brazilian... this happened about 3 times where she said OK all finished and I had to check the hair, basically tell her her job and where and what to wax. THEN she put a strip of wax on me, put cloth on WALKED OUT OF ROOM to say hello to a customer and that she would be right with them, walked back in and ripped off cloth...UNREAL!! No warning no nothing...I was afraid the wax was going to harden! Its not over...again I had to ask for areas to be waxed. When it was finally over she said OK your done now and stayed in the room as I got up to get dressed. While I was getting dressed she stayed in the tiny room re-dressing the table not giving me any room or time to change. Just rude and unprofessional! Honestly if they didn't have time to do the job I would have been perfectly fine coming at a later time...this was by far the WORST experience I have ever had. My very first wax experience was better than this, do not go! Overpriced and better customer service elsewhere!!! read more
