Buyer Beware!
I called them to come repair my icemaker and my oven door. Charlie was prompt, showed up on time so no problems there.
My icemaker is a KitchenAid side-by-side refrigerator with an icemaker. The problem was it would not stop making ice so ice would constantly overflow into the freezer.
He went to work on the icemaker, and said "oh it's dusty and I need to blow out the compressor. I said I don't need any of that, just need the ice maker fixed. He started to work on that. He told me that I needed to replace the whole unit, but no worries because he had a new one in his truck. He went to his truck and came back with a box about the size of an icemaker and then went to work and worked on the unit for an hour or so. I was working from home that day so I didn't really watch what he was doing. He finished up and said we have to wait till tomorrow to see if it stops making ice.
The next day, the problem wasn't fixed and it was still overflowing. I called Charlie he came back out the next day and said "oh it's the cabling I have to fix now" so he replaced some cables apparently. He spent quite a lot of time on the phone with other technicians asking how to reset the icemaker trying to figure out how to reprogram the electronic beam. Once again he says the problem should be fixed and left. But again on the third day, the ice maker still was continuing to overflow and the problem was not fixed. I called Charlie, and true to form he came out and worked on it some more but we ended up shutting off the water to the icemaker because he couldn't fix it.
He did however repair the hinges on my oven door. And I just told him to apply The $350 that he charged me on my icemaker for the work on the oven door. He said fine.
After a couple of weeks I decided to try one more appliance repair before I brought a new refrigerator. I called Sears and they sent out their service tech. I explained everything to the Sears technician about the previous attempt to repair and what was going on. He opened up the freezer door, started looking at the icemaker unit and called me over and said this is not a new unit. He removed the entire unit and showed it to me. He said even the Teflon tray on the inside where the ice cubes are made is corroded and all of the Teflon has come up and pointed it out to me. He said. this is really old, and it certainly isn't a new one.
I still have the part that he pulled out of the freezer, and if anyone from this company wants to refund my money I'll gladly give them their part back.
The Sears tech had the proper one in his truck. He pulled it out of the unopened box and showed it to me. It was brand new. He installed it and it began to work within a few minutes. I haven't had any troubles with it since.
