This hardware store is probably my favorite shop in Eagle Rock. It's only three blocks from my house which doesn't hurt. But the guys who work here are first-rate. They answer all my questions and have even loaned me a tool to tighten the spark plugs. I love that you can buy a handful of various nails and screws--sometimes you only need a few. You would think that a small place like this would be more expensive that a big home improvement store and some things are--but many things aren't. Especially if you need things that have been in the store for awhile--basics like an aluminum shower curtain rod (cheap!). This is one of those places you feel good spending money and it's mighty handy to stay close to home when you need something for a project when you're stuck. It really feels like you've stepped back in time walking in here and I just love that. I'd be so sad if this place ever closes. I hope they own the building and keep it going. read more

I have lived in the Highland Park/Eagle Rock area all of my life. In Eagle Rock for almost 60 years. My father owned a business in Eagle Rock, " Ideal Manufacturing Co" on Fair Park Ave which later became the " City Yard". Dad frequented Tritches in their early years of business. After I married my husband Mel, we bought a home on Vincent Ave and Mel started going to Tritch's for everything he needed. There was hardly a week go by without Mel stopping in and getting some small thing he thought he would need to keep our home running smoothly. The Tritch brothers became my hubby's friends., When Mel retired he would make up any excuse to go to Tritch's Hardware! I told him they needed to put rocking chairs out front for the retirees! My husband now has parkinson's and it is a great effort for him to make that trip down the street to visit Tritch Hardware. But where does he still ask to go...."Tritch's"... I finally put a photo of Tritches on his cell phone to help him deal with missing these trips. This local hardware is a legend in Eagle Rock. This place is cramed with merchandise and they seem to have those hard to find items that may or may not be stocked at the bigger stores. Went here looking for a lawn mower. Although I didnt end up buying one, they were really helpful! :) I know nothing about lawn mowers, but they were there the moment I walked in to help me look for the right one and the different prices, etc. I highly recommend Tritch hardware! If you are handy and need good service on your purchase go to tritch. I've been trading there for years and always find them friendly, competent, and ready to give the best service. Today's project was to obtain materials for our electrician who plans to install an outlet in drywall. The hole is already cut because the plumber was here yesterday. Total cost foran outlet box, 3 double outlets,, 5' of 12-3 romex, 2 romex retainers, a couple of wood screws, and a cover plate was $17. Time about 7 minutes. You can't get more competent friendly service at any other hardware store I know of. read more

This shop is a small town gem in a world of huge "help yourself because you'll never find an employee to help you" home improvement centers. At Tritch's if you need three cup hooks you don't have to buy a box of 50. And if you forget to fill out the slip, no worries. These folks know their inventory. The Tritch folks are happy to give advice if you ask but they have never treated me as if I don't know what I am doing because I have two X chromosomes. They also have recommendations for any projects you want to hire out. I found a great handyperson through them and she was recommended because her skills fit my job. Tritch's know their reputation hangs on the people they recommend. Give Tritch's your business. Take the kids if you want them to smile and nod when you talk about real hardware stores from your childhood. read more

I was working in Eagle Rock during the couple of times I went to Hitch. It was a lot more convenient and easier for me to shop here than drive to a large hardware store where you can get lost in the super high warehouse ceilings and rows of so many things. I'm not very handy(wo)man-ish but I kind of went through a brief DIY (do-it-yourself) phase so I needed a few things. From the very beginning, this place always had a very family/home vibe to it. It's a family owned business since the 20s. I already like that coming in here, you support local and small business owners. I found the few supplies that I needed pretty quickly and the staff was very helpful. What I loved most about it is all the really cool stuff they have! It was similar to perusing a vintage store or flea market. Love it! I spent more time at the store doing that than I was looking for nails, hammar and glue. read more

Wow! I went to Tritch Hardware Co. today after leaving Home Depot disappointed that I couldn't find what I needed (help drilling holes into the leg of my dining table, which had fallen off), and I was very impressed with how helpful the young gentleman here was. He not only handpicked the right screws for me, but he also drilled holes into the table leg for me!! He spent a good thirty minutes making sure the drilled holes were just right and the screws ended up costing only 87 cents, I tipped him and thanked him for being so generous with his time. I'll definitely be coming back here next time I need to go to a hardware store. It's definitely worth the drive from Toluca Lake. read more

This place was so helpful! I was looking to get another key for my back door, and he did it perfectly for only $1.30! Me and my dad tried out the key on the back door, and it worked more smoothly then his was! (Probably because his key was about a decade old.) We just moved into the neighborhood after buying our first home in the area. We have only been to Tritch twice in the week that we've been working on our house and both times, were fantastic. When I came in the first time without my husband I was greeted right away and shown to exactly what I was looking for. They answered any and all questions I had and didn't make me feel like I was out of place at all. They are super knowledgeable and friendly and all around awesome guys! This is a fantastic local hardware store tucked in between other stores. You can totally drive past it and not even notice this store. Limited parking available in the rear. Tritch Hardware Co has basically everything that you need for your weekend or a quick fix project around the house. They are also very knowledgeable so do take advantage of their expertise. I usually come in and ask alot of question about the pros and cons on the items that I am interested in and they also take the time to help me understand my choices. I never feel like they are in a hurry to rush me out of the store. Definitely another great local hardware. read more

You get old fashioned service like back in the day from people who want to help. Bring an old part or screw that you need and they will either have it or can come pretty close. this has become my local go-to hardware store. it is the first place i go to when i need hardware. they are HELPFUL, always have what i need (i constantly work on my home, car, and motorcycle), are PATIENT in listening to what i need, and even offered to let me use some tools in the back so i wouldn't have to buy something i'd only need to use ONCE! don't expect the best prices around, for them to be internet/fax savvy, but from an industrial designer's point of view, they seem to know what they are talking about. although this may be a downside for some people, they make up for it in speed, knowledge, and helpfulness = 5 stars. come here to FACE-TO-FACE help you won't get at Home Depot or OSH. don't go buying a pack of screws at Home Depot when you only need ONE you can get from the friendly guys at Tritch. read more
