We had planned to go to a tapas place recommended by our Gaudi House tour guide (Touring Pandas…read moreguide Jekaterina who was EXCELLENT) but the joint had a line of 20+...so we chose to go to my plan B! We were happy to enter the cozy La Alcoba Azul and seated by a smiling host immediately & presented with menus. The interior looks almost like a wine cellar with brick vaulted ceilings. The offerings are best described as fusion tapas but there are a few traditional bites as well. Our waiter presented us with an amuse bouché of pumpkin hummus topped with roasted pepitas on an herbed toasted baguette crisp. DELICIOUS! We confidently ordered the tomato tartare with avocado cream, basil, olive powder and rosemary olive oil caviar as well as a half order of cured Iberican meats featuring chorizo, loin, sausage and ham, an order of the hummus with black olives, parsley, pine nuts and pita triangles. All were terrific! We especially enjoyed the meats and tomato tartare. I enjoyed a red sangria that was satisfying and happened to be topped with cinnamon...a first and welcome addition for me. La Alcoba Azul is a spot we'll keep on our tapas go to list! You shouldn't hesitate to visit.

Very average food. Spent 100€ for three adults and wasn't very satisfied. Tried the iberico ham,…read moremanchego cheese, banh mi, potatoes, sardines on tomato appetizer. Everything was just so so, nothing memorable or tasty. The rose had one option and was not good. Pass on that. Service was wonderful. We went around 5:30p and there was no wait.

Quite pleased with my meal as a whole. Lot of positive a tad bit of negative during my dining…read moreexperience here. On the positive side, the food was very good and very fresh. My Greek salad was very authentic and was as good as any salad I had while I lived in Greece. Very fresh vegetables, great Feta and seasoned to perfection. The shrimp scampi under the Tapas menu with garlic was equally good and oh so tasty. The smallish inside restaurant is best described as rustic and a tad warm. Instead I opted for the outside dining area, which has just a few tables but offered a very pleasant ambiance in the small side street this business is located on with low foot traffic and a very nice breeze on the warm day I dined here. The relaxed dining on the outside is definitely the way to go here especially during the summer months. From a negative standpoint, certain aspects of the service were too slow. I was seated pretty quickly upon arrival but I waited a tad bit too long to get my order in. Once ordered though, the food came pretty quickly on a positive note. However, for all intents and purposes the service stopped at that point where I had no follow up and literally had to walk inside the business to get my bill. Overall, the dining experience was still great for me slow service aside as the quality of the food and outdoor ambiance far outweighed the negatives. I would say if you are in a bit of there rush you may want to look elsewhere. However, if you are looking for a relaxing dining experience with great food than this business will be definitely fit the bill!

It was somewhere we would have never found. Like all great finds it's a small place on a nondescript little street. But inside it was a different world. Great ambiance in this little restaurant. Exactly what you want in a small tapas restaurant. The food was amazing, the service just as much. From the cool door man to Arturo our waiter: all couldn't be better. The beauty of tapas is being able to taste so many little plates and this place didn't disappoint. We had ribs, ahi tuna, oregano cod fritter even the sangria was great. This is a genuine tapas bar you need to visit while in Barcelona.

The raspberry mojito was great - I would definitely recommend it! The octopus and truffle ravioli were tasty as well. The octopus was probably my favorite as the ravioli was honestly a bit heavy with the cheese/sauce. We did not enjoy the pork cheek and mussels as much. Some of the mussels did not seem fresh - we had been looking forward to this one since it seemed highly reviewed by prior visitors but had mixed feelings about it after.
