Went in yesterday to look at potentially getting rid of my wife's car that we have quite a bit of…read morenegative equity in. The only reason we traveled an hour each was was from an email conversation I had with "Tracey" from their sales department. I was very clear with her on our situation, laid out exactly what we had, as well as exactly what we were looking for, and she said she was extremely confident that they would be able to help. After convincing my skeptical wife we might finally be able to get out from underneath the Jetta loan, we made the trek and worked with Jacob at the Seneca Falls dealership. He was nice enough, extremely helpful, and took down EVERYTHING we were looking for, and we were very specific in payments, what our high dollar was, and what we could put down. After test driving a brand new Jeep Patriot, my wife fell in love with it...it had everything she was looking for, at least until the , manager came over and went over the payments. They were going to give us 2500 dollars less than every other dealership offered for our trade, and tried to get us to agree to either 8000 dollars down and 800 dollars a month for 3 years, or 600 dollars a month for 5 years with the 1000 dollars down I initially told them. I am not sure why or how they thought that would be ok, but it was an extremely shady way of doing business and we didn't bother to stick around after that. We left, extremely disappointed and totally defeated. We were very clear that if they could not make the payments we laid out work, to not waste our time. We had to find someone to watch our 6 month old son to travel an hour each way, just to be totally defeated. I will be sure to pass this along to anyone and everyone i know looking to buy a car. James is not for the people, he does not give highest dollar for trades, and his sales associates are con artists at best.
