They did such a great job. Took her back yesterday and she was trimmed again looking so cute. They even gave me a Christmas card with Maggie on it. This is the best groomer, everyone is so nice. Maggie loves to bark at other dogs but when she is a Trouphy Paws she walks in with the others dogs like they are her best friends. Unfortunately I'm moving to California. We found Trophy Paws after researching grooming for fearful pets. Our Pinenut (longhair chihuahua) had a tough past and is a very scared little 4lb girl. Our shorthair chihuahua, Crouton, is also recovering from a difficult history with humans and tends to snap as an initial reaction. I explained all of this prior to our first appointment and was assured they would be handled with great care. I was nervous when picking them up for the first time as I was prepared for a breakdown of who bit who and where. LOL All of that was for naught. I arrived to rave reviews of how sweet they are and how well behaved they both were throughout their baths, blow dries, etc... I was so happy I could have cried. This is a testament to how well they were treated. Both babies looked so fresh and adorable, and they smelled incredible. The groomings lasted longer than we expected (I guess it's all subjective) which was a great surprise. Since then, we have been taking our pups there for the last year +. BONUS: They have a little photo booth set up and decorated by the season. They send you pics of your pups after each grooming and I just love sharing them with our friends and family - I think they love the pics as much as we do! I will add that they do have some strict rules on arrival times, drop offs, and pickup times. This is a fantastic pet groomer that always makes my Golden Retriever Bentley look Best In Snow ready! We get the full service treatment (wash, deshedding, nail trimming, teeth cleaning, etc.) and the team does excellent work. They are also very communicative, texting about appointment reminders or time to drop-off/pickup your pet. Huge shout out to Trophy Paws and Sam! I've taken my dog here twice, and Sam has been great with Monroe. She is horribly anxious when she goes to the groomer, and doesn't allow anyone to touch her paws, butt, tail, or ears after her bath. She's a dramatic corgi mix who allows her body to be brushed and that's about it. She normally needs to be sedated to be groomed. Sam has managed to work with her, and while still drugged, she has managed to get her ears, butt, and tail done, and even parts of her legs (which I consider to be close to a miracle). It's a work in progress, but her patience is astounding, and the fact they refuse to muzzle dogs (even when Monroe gets snappy and growls) earns them extra points from me. Though a bit pricey, I will happily keep returning to Trophy Paws and cautiously hope Monroe gets to the point where groomers don't scare her anymore. read more

The grooming is ok. I've had similar results at big box pet stores, but in an effort to support the little guy, I chose to go to this neighborhood spot instead despite the higher cost. Today was the last time Ill be a customer. I was late 20 min to pickup my dog and was charged $45 for being late. When asked if they make an exception for it being the first time I was late, I was told "sorry, we cant. the system wont allow us to". I even suggested this would be my last time coming but they didnt care. They blamed it on the "system" not allowing them to. They could literally care less that they were about to lose a regular customer. A customer who lives in the neighborhood and promoted their business to umpteen neighbors and friends. The previous time I picked up my dog, he wasnt even ready when they said he would be and I had to wait outside for 15 minutes until he was ready (they wont allow you to wait inside in an effort to not distract the dog). They send a text 30 min prior to your dog being ready, and if youre late, they charge you. A phone call would have been nice or even a pickup grace period window. read more

The good. My dog, baby, always came out looking and smelling so good :-) They also send you a pic of your dog which is cute. :-) I took Baby a few times. The only downer was the door buzzer. The staff seemed annoyed by the door being locked and having to buzz you in. They had signs on the door with exclamation points at that time to warn to press once and wait. Just made me feel uneasy. After a few months of traveling and not visiting Trophy Paws for a while I was back in Chicago and booked Baby an appointment. The bad - I arrived and did the doorbell thing and couldn't really see in so pressed it twice more and that may have messed things up? Anyway, the groomer asked what we would like and I asked that Baby be trimmed and to look the same, no change in the cut. This was an appointment for a bath and haircut. The groomer didn't look at me but said "that doesn't really exist" or maybe "I do not know what that means" I cannot remember. I then asked the groomer as they were feeling Baby's coat to suggest what they thought. I've seen it a few times where groomers will feel under baby's coat because she is a doodle with very long fluffy hair. They responded that "I do not know, you have to tell me" something along those lines. Now, what happens next may entirely be my fault with how I present or maybe I had attitude? It is entirely possible, I admit that. I do not mind if I am to blame here. I told them that I had already mentioned I just want a trim, no change. I was a little frustrated because I had already told them to just trim and leave it the same. Baby had been trimmed here several times before and the groomer had just pulled up her record and photos. So, when they told me they didn't understand what I meant it felt a little demeaning as I am not the expert. That is why I deferred to the groomer to give me their opinion. I was so taken aback, but they actually raised their voice in the salon in front of the other dogs and groomers and told me that, "first of all, you need to lose the attitude." The groomer who had groomed Baby the few times we had visited before had to come over and intervene. She actually had to ask that the conversation be calmed down. Even as I was leaving I asked the groomer if they still did not understand what I meant when I said "to just have her look the same with a trim?" The groomer did not budge; they said "no, I don't" as if they had won the conversation and I am the dumb one in the room? I dunno. Maybe I am ignorant but Baby has always been the same length and I always ask the groomer wherever we may be to just leave her the same with bath and trim. I was very flustered so I am so grateful to this other groomer because they were the only clear headed one in the conversation it appears. They quickly realized this vibe was not good for Baby or anyone involved and suggested that we reschedule. So, there is no way I will take Baby back to Trophy Paws after this altercation which led to her not being washed or combed before I'm off traveling again and she wil mat :-/ The review is not to say that Trophy Paws is good or bad, it is just to present what happened this time. And a reminder that grooming is a skill but the care and attention has to be there. Again, I am beyond grateful to Trophy Paws for the service they provided and for the foresight of the other employee to know that this appointment was NOT going to turn out well for Baby. I actually cried on me and Baby's walk home maybe just from having been yelled at but I also felt guilty for not explaining the trim better and making this person angry. I'm sensitive and have anxiety so I was just confused. So, I won't take Baby here again because I would really feel dumb going back to a place where the staff yelled at me. But it was probably just a bad mix of personalities with me and the groomer so I encourage everyone to make their own choices based on the vibes they get within their groomer. (I did not mention names or gender as I know that me and Baby are a piece of this scenario. I do not think it necessarily anyone's fault) read more

We love Trophy Paws! Kelly and Nicole are so talented and excellent with our puppy! We have a 25 lb mini-goldendoodle who is 8 months old and can sometimes be a little nervous but not at Trophy Paws. They do a great job catering to his needs and he always comes home so handsome. We prefer him a little longer but nicely groomed and they do a perfect job, we've never had a bad haircut! Tucker and I love trophy paws!! We moved across the country and was having a hard time finding a groomer for Tucker that we loved. I am so happy we stumbled across trophy paws on yelp as we absolutely love taking tucker here. They don't cage the dogs when they are waiting for their groom so they get to play with other puppies. Even though tucker is a little shy without his parents he was rather comfortable with us leaving him there last time. His haircut looks great as well... they him the perfect Bichon fro. We've been going to Trophy Paws for close to two years. My dog Laila is high anxiety and will not let just anyone touch her nails. These ladies are fantastic with her. She's all of 10 pounds soaking wet and it takes two of them to trim her nails. She won't let me hold her either. They are accommodating and always work her in. Prices are very reasonable. I'd recommend getting an appointment because they are always busy. But again they do their best to work you in as fast as they can. We love going here! read more

I have taken my pup to multiple groomers in the city and Trophy Paws has by far been my favorite cut. They make my Golden Cavalier mix look like a puppy again. The staff has been friendly and accommodating when I have gone in, however, I have recently had a poor experience that I needed to share. About 8-10 months ago, I called Trophy Paws to make an appointment (I had had my puppy groomed there twice previously). They advised that they were extremely booked and suggested a different groomer if I wanted to get in sooner. I made an appointment for a grooming elsewhere. About 4 months later, I called Trophy Paws again to get my dog in, to which they responded again that they were booked and suggested another groomer. I took my dog else where. I called Trophy Paws two days ago, and requested an appointment. They advised that because I had not been there in so long, their system kicked me/my dog out as an existing customer, and would not let me make an appointment because there are not accepting new customers. This was frustrating, as I had not been there in months per their directive. Well, after two more calls back to discuss with management, the finally let me know that the true reason they were suggesting alternative places was because my dog showed extreme anxiety there, and implied he had possibly tried to bite their groomers the last time (I do believe it, he gets very defensive and scared when being blow dried - which I did warn them about). They said the places they suggested were quieter, more private/one-on-one that might suit my pup better. Unfortunately, because they were not honest with me (not once or twice, but three times), I wasn't aware of the reasoning, and did not take my dog to a groomer that would have better suited his anxiety. I am very disappointed that Trophy Paws was not honest with me from the start, and continued to possibly lie and say they were so booked out, to steer me to another groomer. I am very understanding, and would never have put my dog in an anxious situation, had I known he was reacting this way. Additionally, I would have handled my pups needs differently the previous two grooms, had Trophy Paws been honest with me. Disappointed and bummed customer. The one suffering the most in this situation was my dog. read more

My dog June sees Sam about every six weeks, and I am always at so much ease dropping her off knowing that she is in such great hands! I can only say good things about Sam. Nicole is AMAZING! She has been grooming our dog since he was a pup - over 10 years. Our dog has anxiety and Nicole treats him like royalty and makes him at ease. We were so happy and relieved when we found out that Trophy Paws opened up.
