The only trophy this place deserves is a participation award. Pros (because I like to give the good news first): - Moderately priced for a restaurant in the south end, the restaurant menu is full of tasty looking dishes for a price that won't kill your wallet (the majority of entrees are under 20 bucks) - Nice ambiance, very trendy - Spicy Cauliflower Wings (Appetizers - 7 bucks for 4 pieces of cauliflower..probably one of the only dishes where the price was questionable). However, this will be the only good food rating this restaurant gets, the cauliflower deserves the the MVP award of this trophy room. The texture was just right, not to hard or crispy but not mushy. The cauliflower was buttery and soft but has a crunch on the bottom from the way it is baked. This dish is perfection. Cons: - The quality of the food is really mediocre/border line below average. The black bean burger is extremely mushy and had too much thyme. I would have returned it if I hadn't already returned my drink. The dish had no texture too it and was extremely over seasoned (which coming from an Italian who likes her seasoning shouldn't be overlooked). - My date ordered the porkbelly (cider-braised pork belly, polenta fries, green apple jicama slaw)...he was accidentally served the pork belly appetizer which in comparison turned out to be only slightly smaller than the entree which was 11 bucks more. This dish was extremely overcooked. For a dish that is supposed to be braised in cider, the meat was extremely dry. The polenta fries tasted like fried corn meal, the texture was gritty. The polenta fries also had no flavor at all...they must have used all seasoning on my burger. - Drinks - For a restraurant in the south end I expected a nice cocktail. However the cocktail i receieved tasted like I was ordering from bar at last call. The perfect ten was all rum and simple sugar. The drinks are a decent size and pretty strong, all cocktails are $12. However, I had to return the drink as it tasted like something I would have received at a dive bar. Dive bar quality with a restaurant price. Ultimately, the only way I would ever come back to this place is if I was promised a meal of just the cauliflower wings. read more

One star reviews are no fun to give. But I honestly cannot think of anything redeemable about my experience here. I came for brunch, sat at the bar and spent about 60 of my 90 minutes trying to find someone, anyone, to take my order, serve me a drink, serve my friend a drink, give us our check..it was a real struggle. The food was very lackluster. The entire experience was disappointing. There are far too many wonderful options in the neighborhood for anyone to have to settle for this place. I love what they have done with the place. Very comfy seating and a variety of seating. They don't rush you, they are kind. Food wise, the bar fries were yum and the meatballs just ok (hard to compete with my moms so probably not a fair comparison). It was Rupaul drag TV night and people were just having chill fun. I like that this is another gay option and I hope they don't lose being gay or cater too much to straights - we need our culture and places! Second trip to Trophy Room and luckily we had the same waitress, Libby. She remembered my wife and me and the three of us struck up a great conversation. The service was fantastic, warm and friendly. My wife and I visited the Trophy Room the day after its grand opening. We were happily surprised by how good the food was, given that this is an American bar and yet it has international flavors and not just your typical bar food. We were there early evening and started off with Gumbo, Drunken Mussels, and Spicy Duck Boudin (although it's not that spicy). Liked the gumbo soup - it's hearthy and filling, love the mussels - good quality mussels, and my favorite of all - the duck boudin was so good. By now we realized Wow, the chef can cook! So we finished it off with an order of Honey-bourbon Steak Tips. I highly recommended all these dishes, but I'm not going into details to let you explore it yourself. By the end of the night, we wished we had the stomach to try more plates but unfortunately that'll have to wait for next time. My wife and I were not big drinkers, so I had a Yeungling and she had a "something...Blue" mixed drink, although it's not blue at all. The service was great. The servers were readily available for our needs and the food came out on time. We sat in a table near the bar area, so it was fun to see so many people enjoying themselves at the bar. There was another section of the restaurant with comfy looking sofas if you want to have a quieter dinner experience. We were surprised by how easy the parking is, especially around this area, although you have to interpret the parking signs a little bit. It's fair to say that parking after 6pm is easier than other times. About the décor, the place is new. There's an open kitchen so you'll see the chef as he prepares the food and you can even talk to him - how cool is that! Overall the design and decoration are nice, again I'll let you all explore it. Now I have to be honest and say that the bill was slightly more expensive than we thought, but for the pleasant experience and the unique offering of quality dishes, we would definitely come back here again to explore its menu. read more

Love the space which gets the only stars, however, hate to say the service gets worse every visit. The well drinks price keeps changing, I've been charged $6, $7, and now $7.50 for well vodka! The staff walk around like chickens with their heads cut off and when you ask a question they have no clue! The food is good but priced a little to high. read more

Well here's a first.... five of us went to Glam Brunch on Sunday, sat in the round booth by the door, enjoyed a meal, were still enjoying drinks while we held out to finish bingo round number two (bingo is slow going coz the hostesses/divas chat a lot and it's hilarious, we loved it) and the restaurant manager held the front door open, which no doubt he knew would impact us first, making it uncomfortably cool, to free up the table. It was not only super obvious, but as I came back from the restroom I also heard him snarkily say something implying exactly what he was doing to a group that was waiting to sit, letting them know it wouldn't be long. Don't invite the public in to eat and play bingo if you're going to then rush them out so you can turn the table. Or tell them there's a one game limit. Something. Good food there, yeeee-UMMY drinks, nice room, and some really nice staffers, but a couple of clunkers including this manager, and it sours the whole thing, makes it into one of those we're-all-that places with attitude. So I read great reviews and thought this would be a great place to grab a cocktail. I walked in and it looked like a great place. I was met by an attentive host. I explained that we were there for just a cocktail. We went to the bar area where there was a bar full of people and several high top tables. The bar was full so we assumed that the high tables were fair game (as they are in most places) since they are not part of the dinning room. So we sat at a two top table. The same host came over and said I will bring you menus. And I replied "oh sorry, we thought this was part of the bar" and his nasty reply was "no, that's why this is set for dinner". He whirled around on her heal and left. And very soon after so did we. No need for nasty attitudes. So I can't rate the drinks or the food. But the staff attitude was terrible. Definitely an upgrade from the Fritz days. The room is very nice. I stopped in on a Friday evening for a couple of drinks. I can't comment on the food. I grabbed the last seat at the bar at about 5 PM. The tables were empty at this point but filled up by 7 when I left. The bartenders were attentive and drinks, on of their specialty cocktails, were pretty good. All good. The only negative... One of the bartenders, Scott, made one of my cocktails and then poured the surplus from the shaker into a small glass. I thought 'how nice, I'm going to get a sidecar. Bonus!' But then he took the glass and placed it in front a woman at the other end of the bar. I noticed that this woman never paid for any drink before leaving. I realize that I received my drink and had no claim to the surplus but I still think it was terrible customer service for the bartender to pass it off to another (non-paying) customer. I am holding the two extra stars in reserve. I will definitely give the place another try and perhaps they will earn them. read more

I did a search for Sports Bar on Yelp and this bar came up. It is a nice bar with televisions, but not a Sports Bar. No seats have even an average view of the screen and no one was interested in football on a Sat afternoon. The food was good, but $14 for a hamburger and maybe 15 fries seemed excessive. As a frequent and loyal customer I have to say that this is one of my absolute favorite places to eat and/or drink in Boston. I used to come to Fritz all the time a few years back (which is what the location used to be called) and I love how they kept the fun, queer-friendly environment that they were known for and improved upon it. They have an excellent selection of signature cocktails to please all palettes and a steadily rotating list of local and imported craft beers on tap or bottled, as well as a small (but great) selection of wines. The staff is wonderful! The bartenders are super knowledgeable when it comes to the art of mixology and pairing the right flavors. (Shout out to Will, Nate, Scott, and Ian!) Fred (the man in charge) is usually on hand helping out at the bar, welcoming people and making sure the whole operation is running smoothly. Everyone is super accommodating and always willing to offer suggestions when it comes to ordering. Evan, the boss man in the kitchen, is an amazing chef and he never ceases to impress with a continuously rotating menu of delicious entrees and small plates. The nachos are a go-to for sure, along with the personal flat bread pizzas. I'm also a huge fan of their signature Trophy Burger which has to be seen (and tasted) to be believed. Also the sausage gumbo/cornbread combo is a huge win (especially for the cold season.) They also serve brunch on Sunday's if you're looking to cure your weekend hangover blues. There's live music on Tuesdays (I believe) and they host various tastings and special events throughout the week. All in all I would strongly recommend popping by for a drink with a few friends (or a date.) It's certainly a breath of fresh air amidst all the noise that is Boston night life. 4 stars for the food, 3 stars for the service. I came on a Sunday around noon and there was no wait for a table, which was a nice change from many of the other brunch places around Back Bay. The food took about 15 minutes to arrive, which is fairly reasonable. The grilled cheese was delicious -- it was served on marble rye and with three cheeses that blended together with their complementary flavors. The home fries were just the right size, cubed, and crispy and sufficiently salty. The Eggs Benedict was covered generously in a creamy, sour Hollandaise, which made me very happy. It was served on a bed of spinach, button mushrooms, and Canadian bacon. The eggs were more well done than usual -- the yolks didn't run, as I'd generally expect of an Eggs Benedict. However, there was a substantial piece of egg shell in one of the poached eggs. We informed the server, who offered a replacement. When we got the replacement, we were surprised to find that the poached eggs were a lot runnier than the ones that had come in the first plate. I understand that it may have been the result of a rush to get the replacement dish out to us, though it was shocking to see how differently the eggs had been poached. The home fries on the second Eggs Benedict were also a lot softer than those on the first one. The initial home fries were crispy and golden while these were more brown and tasted more sauteed than pan fried. Overall the experience was fine. I would go back but I'm wary of the chef's consistency, based on the eggs and the home fries. It seems unusual that at a nice brunch place, one would find such a wide variance in the preparation of the same dishes. Moreover, the wait staff were not particularly attentive to all of our needs -- we had to ask for a new set of cutlery at one point though it was clear that we needed one. read more
