First time here tonight - came here because a friend is in the final round for a karaoke contest - it's serious here they have cash prize for the winner! So we came to support our friend. Karaoke happens upstairs. We got a table and good thing we got there early before they start. It got crowded after 9pm. The DJ Michael was there and he sang a song and he has a nice voice. After that the judges each sang a song and they were all great too. We ordered food at the bar and they brought it to our table. I ordered the cucumber salad with chicken breast and it was good. The chicken was very tender and the veggies (cucumber and tomatoes) were crisp - it was quite a big portion too so good for dinner! Healthy and tasty. The chicken could use a bit more flavor though - it was quite bland. But still overall I was pleasantly surprised that it was good. The hubs ordered the chicken bacon panini with avocado and a side salad. He liked it. Our friend ordered the steak tips sandwich and he really enjoyed it he said the it was very flavorful and he was quite surprised how good it was! I guess it's good when you don't have high expectations ;) It was a fun night watching all the singers sing - they were all really good - one better than the next - really great talent!! Really enjoyed it! Will be back again sometime for singing karaoke!

We LOVE Paul!

If you don't go anywhere else in Boston, you have to sit at the bar at the White Bull Tavern and visit with Paul! He is hands-down the best bartender I have ever come across and one of the most knowledgeable and fun humans you will ever meet! #PaulforPresident

You can't go to Boston and not have a lobster roll right? When my friend and I were going back and forth on where to eat, I saw someone having a lobster roll that looked absolutely amazing...so at that point I was hooked lol! The vibe of the restaurant is pretty relaxed, and we got to sit near the opening where we had a view of the busy market street! We were seated quickly and placed our drink orders right away which gave us plenty of time to look over the menu. I ended up ordering the White Bull lobster roll which has the lobster tossed in an avocado aioli and had bacon in it. Normally I like to have my lobster rolls warm but this was absolutely fantastic and by far my favorite cold lobster roll!

My wife and I were visiting Boston and wanted to check out somewhere close to where we parked that we haven't been to. After walking into another spot that was open yet had no staff or customers inside we walked right out and went next door to here. Comparatively this spot was busy and appeared to have good vibes. We checked their menu outside and thought it looked good enough. After being seated we spotted their fall drink specials and we both decided to try their autumn inspired margarita. They were delicious and well made so really no complaints about the drinks. The other fall cocktails sounded tasty as well. This does lead me to the biggest complaint that we experienced here though. It had to do with our server seeming to forget us at times and lack of attentiveness. Even to the point that we had already placed our drink order and a table who came in significantly later than us ordered and got their drinks long before we got ours. No mention of apologizing for the wait either and it left a bad taste in our mouth. Beyond that we decided to split their Avocado Chicken Pizza. It ended up being three slices each which was the perfect size meal and it was a tasty meal. Despite enjoying it quite a bit I do think we have had better pizzas for a similar or cheaper price. The biggest knock for us was the lack of quality service. I certainly would have given an extra star had service been better. If you are looking for a spot that has sports bar vibes that has a variety of food offerings check it out. For those fans of the NFL they did appear to have every game on so this may be your spot to grab a drink and catch some football. You will hopefully have a better experience than us.

Excellent Vibe ! We came to The White Bull Tavern during our two days in Boston. We had walked by restaurant previous night and decided we needed to check it out during the day. Restaurant was very busy at night my review may not apply to night time. I've read other reviews and it seems like folks encountered problems. When we came during the day (3pm) on a Friday we were able to sit by the window witness it begin to softly rain. Just beautiful view. The food was very good we had a delicious Watermelon Margarita. The Watermelon Purée was made same day. We had fall of the bone wings and I've heard others claim "fall off the boat" but at The Tavern they really did fall off bone! The lobster roll, Maine style, was good, not huge or buttered, as you usually see around here but good sized, fresh, and tasty. The waitress was nice overall, would return.

Cheesy bread over rated, pureed tomato tasting, not marinara (would not order again)

Dined outside in the beautiful Boston air! Maine Lobster Roll. I expected a little better tasting lobster roll; so I was a little disappointed. Although my lobster was good, it was just plain lobster with a little bit of butter on a kind of dry, barely toasted brioche bun. It was slightly cold when it came out to me the side Caesar salad was good as well as the bovine Mule cocktail. Just ok! Pretty great service. It was packed! Saturday during lunch October.

We ate here in June of 2025. The atmosphere and location of the restaurant are great. The seats near the window and the patio seating make it fun. My wife had the buffalo-chicken pizza and it was delicious. I had the lobster roll and it was good. It had lots of lobster on it. Probably not the best in Boston but still pretty good. The prices were reasonable for the area. We each had a drink along with our meals and it was $84. Service was decent. They were very friendly but didn't come around a ton. I do recommend this place.

Coming from the service industry I respect someone like Paul as my bartender. He is the funniest, most personable tender I've had in some time! His watermelon coconut mojito is out of this world!!!! Thanks for the little Italy joke I haven't laughed that hard in forever

The White Bull Tavern is such a gem! The place is super clean and absolutely beautiful inside, and the music was right up my alley. We first stopped in on a Thursday and met Paul -- he was awesome! We had beers and their cheese bread (no pics, but trust me, so good). I also saw someone get their pizza and it looked and smelled amazing. We loved it so much we went back Friday and saw Paul again. He is GREAT -- seriously loved him! He made us the BEST watermelon coconut mojito... omg, I was not expecting it to be that good. Highly recommend it, 100%! He also suggested the lobster roll and wow... absolutely delicious. I usually get lobster rolls in Plymouth, and I have to say, these are wayyyy better. We also tried the wings -- we took them to go, but after tasting them later, still a solid yes from me. Overall, I 100% recommend this place. Great service, vibes, great food, great drinks, and Paul is the best

Thank you Paul!

Paul was so nice and funny! We had the best time on our last day in Boston! Will certainly send my fellow Iowans to see him. Paul's mojito was fabulous! Ambiance was great.. buzzing with the game on.

The service here was great, all the servers were so friendly and welcoming. The ambience was fun they had music playing and everyone was talking and laughing plus the food was pretty good. My friends ordered the chicken sandwiches which they didn't like too much but the maine lobster roll was delicious!

The White Bull Tavern's awesome bartender, Paul!

You must order the kale salad. I am not a kale salad person, yet I have dined here three times in…read morethe last week to eat the kale salad and am already planning my next visit. You know when you're eating a kale salad and the pieces are too big and you're kind of cramming them into your mouth and then the salad dressing is all over your face? This is NOT that salad! The kale is perfectly chopped so you can enjoy it with just your fork as you talk to your friend/spouse/date or just read your book. The dressing is such perfection, and the perfect amount, no gloopiness here! Crunchy breadcrumbs add magical texture and then there's a shower of finely grated gouda cheese on top. Have you ever read a good book and as you're reading it, you're so into it that you don't want it to end? So you slow down your reading speed to make it last a little longer? That's how I feel about this salad. There are other delicious items on the menu, I saw someone eating the burger that looked so good, I also want to try the Brussels but the call of the salad siren is too strong. Everyone is super welcoming and friendly, especially Catherine, and the kitchen team even shared the dressing recipe with me. Excellent wine list, casual and cozy space with twinkle lights, a lot of bar/counter seating, great date spot. Also attached/sister company to American Provisions I believe (great spot in Southie for sandwiches, cheeses, wines, pastries, rare food items).

It's one of my top 3 places in all of Boston. The vibes, the food, the wine, the prices, EVERYTHING is 10/10. This is one of those places where I feel at peace because I feel like my money was 100% well-spent. The prices are fair, and I don't feel like I'm being taken advantage of. And the FOOD, the food is exquisite. My favorite time to go is on Tuesdays for the $1 oyster deal, definitely my favorite $1 oyster deal in the city. They mostly have small plates and a few large plates, but you seriously can't go wrong with anything on the menu. And the wine options, amazinggggggg. Gray's is a true gem!

Came here for dinner for the first time with a couple of friends. Hubby and I ordered their…read morebuffalo loaded fries, a spicy chicken burger, pressed veggie melt, and a couple of drinks. Total came out to approximately $80 (not including tip). What's Hot - Menu. Pretty good variety. There's something for everyone, including vegans (for the most part). Specifically for vegans, they do not appear to have vegan cheese. They recently added loaded fries to their menu. - Quality. We tried their buffalo loaded fries, which definitely a good kick of spiciness. There was a good amount of buffalo mozzarella cheese and chicken. Their fries are slightly crispy on the outside, soft and tender on the inside. I really enjoyed my pressed veggie sandwich. There were whole veggies, such as broccoli, with a good amount of cheese melted between all the veggies. I liked that it was not a mashed patty. The sourdough bread was not tart (which I prefer), soft, and not too greasy. No skimping on the ingredients either. Their mozzarella bites appetizer is good, not overly breaded, and cheesy/stringy. All of us enjoyed our meals. - Service. We showed up without reservations on a Friday night when it was cold and rainy, and they were able to seat us right away. We tried several other restaurants before getting here, and we would have had to wait at least one hour, because we did not have reservations, even though those restaurants clearly had open tables. Our waitress was helpful. She answered all questions she had and was able to provide us contextual helpful info (i.e., what she's tried from the menu, what she liked and why, flavor level, etc...). She paid attention to detail. One of our friends hates pickles and specifically asked for no pickles with his burger. This may seem like a minor detail, but if a staffer cannot pay attention to detail in the service industry, that is not a good indication. - Price. Good value for money, especially given the quality of food and portions. - Portions. Good amount and enough to get one full on one dish. - Location. Conveniently located in downtown Boston around many other shops and restaurants. - Layout. At the front, there's a pretty large bar area, including high tables and chairs, with booths and smaller tables towards the back. They appear to be able to accommodate large groups and smaller parties, including individuals. What's Not - Acoustics. It's pretty loud inside and sound carries very easily, so it's difficult to carry a conversation. Final Answer Worth returning.

I got two cocktails from here and loved both! The "down cape" was very pretty and tasty. I also…read moreenjoyed the "starstruck" drink. The restaurant is very large and has plenty of seating.
