Everything was very fresh, the service was good. This was my first time trying Jamaican oxtails. Didn't taste as flavorful as I imagined but that's okay.

I looked at a lot of the reviews and it was 50/50....some ppl didn't like it or something wasn't to their liking and some ppl love the food and thought it was good....well I went (last minute decision) and ordered the curry goat for myself and jerk chicken for my Jamaican husband (he was mad it went without him ) also ordered the beef patty and coco bread...the place was cute full of Carribean things and very colorful...think because i went with about an hour before they closed there werent anyone dining inside.....all I can say when Jamaicans feed you they feed you...plate was a big plate...the lady was nice and so was the guy that fixed the food...brought it home and my husband critics every Jamaican place that I have found for him and he didn't find it bad...he must have liked it cause while I get full easily he makes a happy plate every time...lol...overall the food was good the staff was nice and I will go back because I want to try the cow foot...

This place is legit! Might look like a whole in the wall, but the quality of the food is authentic. Great service too and they show you the food to make sure it's to your liking before you head off. Both dishes I ordered came out hot and fresh and delish just like I was hoping for. Highly recommend

Well hubby and I couldn't resist trying this little Magical Jamaican Diner out again! Once again they did not disappoint! The food was immaculately divine and the customer service was of royalty! This go round we decided to try appetizers. We ordered the beef meat pie and the curry chicken meat pie. Let me just say this, they are very fulfilling and a meal all by themselves and the flavor, OMG! We enjoyed every delicious and flavorful bite! For our entrees, I tried the Jerk Chicken with cabbage and rice and peas. My husband tried the brown stew chicken with cabbage, a side of white rice, and rice and peas. It was so yummy guys! We even ordered a side of coco bread to eat with our meal and it was a great match as we enjoyed dipping the bread in the jerk sauce and the brown stewed gravy. We also ordered a side of fried plantains which were so warm and soft in the middle but golden crispy brown around the edges. Hubby and I were in Jamaican Island Heaven! I didn't get any pictures of the coco bread, the meat pies, or the plantains because we went in, lol. If ever you are in the greater Katy area and you're in the mood for some scrumptious Jamaican cuisine, stop by and give The Tropical Diner a chance to take you on a magical Jamaican Culinary experience! You won't be disappointed! You will leave feeling Irie Irie! Ya Mon!

Hospitable and A-MA-ZING FOOD! Oxtail, doubles, sorrel made in house... Just wow…read more Thought you didn't like goat meat? That's because you haven't had goat from D'Carribean Curry Spot. Their food is so good, it makes you question everything you thought you knew. Also lots of imported Caribbean snacks and drinks! Just beware....... If you are not already addicted to Trinidadian food or haven't tried it before, eating here will start your addiction. You have been warned.

Thank god we found this!…read more After finishing our lunch at Wrap & Roll, we saw this out of the corner of the eye and decided to stop here as the girlfriend was looking for some caribbean snacks. Being from St Croix island in the Virgin Islands, seeing the menu and taking in the smells of this place gave her memories of back home. Of course I was happy to indulge her request as it gave me an opportunity to try some handheld eats. First the beef pattie, pretty big and so savory with the meat melting in your mouth and the dough having a nice texture and crust. And then the saheena; OMG! It was my first time having this lovely pastry which is made of chickpeas, spinach, and caribbean spices. You'll be hooked on this after one bite. Texture was similar to a savory piece of cornbread. Of course I was very happy with this item. The girlfriend ordered a currant roll which had some sweetness to it with a flaky crust. I enjoyed it but not as much as I was scarfing down my beef pattie and saheena. They also serve traditional caribbean eats including jerk chicken, oxtails, bake & saltfish, and roti wraps. We noticed a lot of people place to go orders here and call ahead for pick up. There were several bags of eats waiting as we witnessed people roll in and pick them up while having small talk with the owners. All those items looked delicious and we plan to come back and try those out. We also talked to the owners for a bit, they're a husband/wife team who've owned/operated this place for a while. Super polite and gracious, they helped me navigate the menu and explained what the items would be like when I ordered. Sadly I could not get the Aloo Pie (sold out) but they assured me it's worth having and to come back and try it (which we will). Pearland is lucky to have this place here. Definitely recommend trying it out for yourself!

My first visit here, it's been on my list since the carribean spot near me in Richmond closed down…read more Food: Love, love the peppery/spicy seasoning on the curry chicken & cabbage. Gotta admit the spiciness had my tongue tingling & my nose running but it wasn't overpoweringly spicy. Btw. I didn't request spicy, that's just how it came. Cabbage and rice & peas were tasty, standard accompaniments. My hubby got the curry goat and it too was very tasty but what got my attention was how tender the goat was! To me, the goat seemed just a little less spicy so the chicken spice level may be just how they cooked the batch that day. Upon entering, I thought it was just a takeout place because I didn't see any tables or seating. While waiting on my food, I discovered a whole other large room with seating, full bar & stage! So takeout or dine-in is definitely an option. It's a little bit of a drive for me but I would definitely return.

They have a large space on the other side where you can eat they do not take orders appear like. My order, the chicken was definitely more spicier than another place that I typically eat at. They do give you a side of gravy. The plantains were slightly dry and I wished I had more cabbage. I heard that they have a rum punch that is really good. I would Give them another try maybe trying something else.
