worst customer service and trained people ever, no one knows how to run register. called in at 658pm , was told order would be ready in 30 min, got there at 740 no greeting what soever, no your food is coming nothing, asked about my order at 750pm at the same time a guy came in and ordered, the guy never updated me what soever, at 815 the same guy who came in after me got his order , 825 asked again about my order , 830 I was told that it would be another 15-20 minutes no sorry , can we get you a drink nothing. I left without my order, I truly believe I would have been there for another hour if I hadn't checked on my order. Great food but the customer service is poor. The servers aren't very friendly when it comes to call ins and they don't answer the phone for pick ups. I sat at the bar for 30 mins and no one acknowledged my presence as I waited so I left. I love the food so hopefully they can work with the servers on better customer service. read more

Ate here for the first time yesterday and was completely blown away by how delicious the food was! The flavors were perfect, the plate setting was gorgeous, and the staff was so nice and welcoming that it made the food taste that much better! Took my parents and they couldn't stop talking about it afterwards. We had the oxtail, stewed chicken, and garlic shrimp - all were very flavorful and delicious. An unsung hero that is definitely in the conversation for the best restaurant in Macon. It doesn't do a ton of business because of the location, but the food here is as good as any place you're going to get and the amount of food you get for the price is amazing. For $11 you get more jerk chicken than you can stand to eat and it's going to be delicious, too. I visit here often and have had everything from the jerk chicken to the ox tail to the fish. Haven't found a single dish so far that isn't among one of the best dishes I've ever had. If you're someone that enjoys spice in your meal you'll love it but if you're not I wouldn't say the spice is overbearing in any way. The staff is attentive and helpful. They're always recommending things to try and they seem to have a good grasp on what different people may enjoy. Good folks. If you're from out of town this place doesn't get a lot of attention because it's not downtown or on one of the major highways in town. But it makes up in off-path location with some of the best food you can get in this city. You should come enjoy it. read more

The scenery was a nice attempt but cheesy. It was a lot of paper decorations, like maybe there was a large event earlier. The food was prepared well and presented very nice. Our server was great and informative about our meals. He influenced our decisions and they were great. I think this place is great if you've never tried Caribbean style food. The Trinidadian style was new to us but very good. We will definitely be eating there again. read more

I visited this restaurant on Saturday December 21st and had one of the worst customer service experiences of my life. My family waited over an hour for food with no explanation or update from anyone. We watched as the manager ran back and forth to the kitchen assisting with food preparation. A waitress with short blonde hair spoke loudly to her co-workers when we inquired as to why our food was taking so long to arrive. She verbally harassed us from the time we inquired until we walked out the door and the only thing the manager could do was apologize repeatedly to my elderly mother. Her comments and rudeness got so bad my sister had to ask the manager not to allow her back at or near our table. I was absolutely appalled that this type of behavior was tolerated and that it took over an hour to receive our meal in a restaurant that was only serving two other people in-house at the time. We visited this restaurant based on my mother's past take out experiences and her love for the food there, but as a result of the horrible customer service and long wait we will never visit this place again. read more

Wow! This restaurant was quite a surprising find in Macon. You know it's something special when you walk in the door. The tables are beautifully set with white tablecloths, tall vases with pink and white orchids, and purple and white napkins stuffed artistically in the wine glasses. You would think with that kind of setup, the food would be really pricey. But it's very reasonably priced and oh so good! We had made reservations for a large party but arrived with a few extras. This was no problem for the staff as they quickly assembled tables to accommodate us. Christy was our waitress. She made some excellent recommendations for menu choices and saw to all of our needs during dinner. I can't remember everything we ordered but we had several orders of salmon, shrimp, and ox tails. Like the table settings, the food is artistically presented and cooked to perfection. Very colorful and bursting with the sweet, tropical flavors of the Caribbean, Jamaica in particular. Side dishes that came with our entrees were peas & rice, stir fried veggies, and fried sweet plantains. I have not had such delicious plantains since I left South Florida. They don't have a liquor license but you are welcome to bring your own. Service was outstanding. All of our food was delivered promptly and at about the same time which must have been very challenging for such a large party as ours. James, the owner/chef, stopped by our table after dinner to make sure we were satisfied with our meals. He shared the story of how he learned to cook from his grandmother in Jamaica. What a delightful evening! My only regret is that I will not be able to frequent this restaurant as I don't live in Macon and don't travel there often. But if I ever am in Macon again, I will certainly be eating here. read more

Great Caribbean restaurant. The macaroni and cheese is awesome, oxtails, and brown stewed chicken are yummy as well. The food is cooked to order so it can take some time for it to come out. The food and portion was subpar! I visited here after dining at the previous location many, many, many times in the past! The pricepoint and food portions were very disappointing. Some of the Oxtails were tough and some of the pieces of meat tasted old, my plantains were either stale or not ripe...I couldn't make out the peculiar taste. The stirfry vegtabes were on the raw side still, the bell peppers were still crisp the cabbage was firm and bland, I couldn't eat past the first bite. Sad to say I won't be returning...before the move this was one of my favorite Middle GA restaurants. Huge waste of Money! Thanks for the memories, the meals I've had in the past with family at the former location were great...This location is lacking, over decorated and subpar food. THIS! I can't say what a treat it was to find authentic Caribbean food here in Macon. The food is very top notch and I can't recommend it enough. I wish I had the menu in front of me to give you the exact dish name but I had the crispy whole fish (snapper?) served with vegetables and my wife had the Jerk chicken. Both were excellent. The fruit drinks were superb and we also ordered some "coco?" bread to go. That bread is off the charts good. My wife is Jamaican and she went on and on about the quality. I'm a good ole' boy from Texas myself and I loved everything I tried. Visited tropical lava Mother's Day, and it was the worst experience I've ever had with a restaurant. It took us over an hour to get our food. The manager said it took longer to cook salmon and shrimp. Don't get the white rice unless you want all of your food to taste like butter. Oh and by the way. Shrimp and salmon is not in the meat category. Had to pay full price. And there was only one waitress. Won't go again read more
