The food truck is located on a corner of a car wash on York Blvd and N. Ave. 53 called Sofspra Car Wash. Their chicken burrito with salsa roja keeps me coming back! It also has some good weight to it too! Their burrito is packed full of chicken, rice and beans. It used to be extremely spicy but this last time the salsa was toned down but still great. I wish it was just as spicy as it was before! The service is always quick and food always comes out hot and fresh. Remember that it's cash only and only street parking is available. This truck has been parked at York and Avenue 53 for a decade or more. I don't know what their hours are, but I have never driven by when it wasn't there. The vegetarian burrito ($8.50) is a hefty thing and primo; the red sauce spicy and blissful. I have never encountered a line that was more than a couple of people. They should update the menu, where meat is spelled "meet" a few times. Even for English as a second language, that's a boo-boo that needs to be corrected. Tried this place out since it was only a block further down from where I was staying and wanted to do a compare and contrast with the other truck close by. El Pique has more options overall, proteins and menu items. I stuck with the basics though and stuck with the tacos. The truck is pretty no frills, you're not going to find a bunch of sauces or toppings out to customize your order. You'll get their standard of cilantro, onions and radish and salsa. I was initially looking for the La Estrella Taco Truck, however they had appeared to close up earlier than midnight. Docking 1 star because they only take cash and I did not have any on me. Luckily, my friends backed me up and I just Venmo'd them back. Great basic selection to choose from such as mulitas, tacos, burritos, quesadillas, sopes, etc... plus more than average selection on proteins such as lengua, cabeza, asada, pollo, al pastor, vegan options too! I honestly wasn't sure if I was going to like it, but who DOESN'T enjoy a good street style taco?! I was really impressed at the size as I only had 2 and normally order more and was definitely hungry after hanging out at the Barcade down the street. Blech! I think I ordered the wrong thing. I should have stayed with my staple carne asada taco to get a good baseline, but I decided to switch it up and go with al pastor. I asked for a plain taco (solo carne) but it came with onions, which I had to painstakingly remove, cursing El Pique all the while. I thought the al pastor was greasy and flavorless and was quite saddened about wasting my money here. I've been going to El Pique for a couple of years now. It is still my favorite taco truck amongst the many popping up on York Blvd. The truck is parked in the car wash and there is always street parking. There is one bench to eat on, but you can always sit on the curb. The food is delicious! The meat is always juicy. I haven't tried any exotic meats, but just the typical asada, chicken, and carnitas. I've tried the tacos, burritos, tortas, quesadillas..practically the menu.. On a scale from 1 to awesome I would say that this place is pretty rad. Now while that could mean a variety of things just know that this place delivers the goods. Its my second favorite taco spot on York, right behind La Estrella, and while its not as well known as the others trust me when I say El Pique packs a punch. I had 2 pastor, 1 lengua, 1 cabeza, and 1 buche so that I could gauge their quality of meats and I have to say that I was pretty happy with all of them. My favorite of the bunch was definitely the pastor, which was marinated to perfection. A tad oily so beware but if your are a taco loving fiend like me then its just par for the course. I also love the fact that they slice up some cucumbers for you and dish them up with your tacos. They're a super refreshing treat and a nice little snack in between tacos. They also offer burritos, tortas, and quesadillas if thats your thing but its all about the tacos baby! Overall I would highly recommend this place and but still say La Estrella is King. read more

I had a crispy Tripas here and it was pretty good. I had a lot of tacos leading up to this place. Something about a taco crawl to get you to fully enjoy the tacos from around eagle rock. It's a pretty decent taco. Though the price tag of 1.25 just doesn't jive well with me. Call me a taco cheap skate. I know quality tacos that go for a buck, damn it! I need to get myself a shirt that says "got tacos?" to compliment my "got pupusas?" shirt cause i love tacos. The last time i was here was for Shauna's & K-Fed's taco truck UYE. I was extremely faded so i didn't remember much but i decided to head back and try them once more sober. I ordered 3 tacos $1.10 / $1.20 (buche, al pastor, tripas well done & crispy) with no onions. Most taco trucks usually don't ask if you want the tripas crispy, but El Pique does. They also get bonus points for having cilantro and onions in separate containers just in case your not fond of onions or cilantro. All 3 tacos were yummy and delicious. The red sauce inst too spicy and it doesn't overpower the diff meats / parts...hahaha El Pique doesn't skimp on the radishes or cucumber that accompany each plate so you get your daily dosage of veggies. I fought stupid LA traffic during what we call rain (more like drizzle) to eat tacos on a cold and windy night. Might I recommend the Cabeza taco? It's quite delicious. Though this truck does not offer serve yourself toppings, I felt that the toppings on my taco were well amounted. Great flavor, texture and aroma. The meat was very tender, flaky and juicy. The meat was encased in a nice soft corn tortilla and was topped off with crunchy fresh onions, cilantro and salsa. I don't understand the price though, why and extra $ 0.25? I mean I don't want to walk around with quarters jiggling in my pocket, it throws of my gait.
