This is the type of place everyone wishes they had in their neighborhood... straightforward, honest, excellent chow served in a laid-back, super chill atmosphere by a welcoming staff who make you feel like you're part of the family. It's a small place with a simple, no-frills design that works perfectly. When you enter, you place your order with Milo and then grab a table inside or out in their large and very nicely appointed backyard space. Be great for families. They'll call your name when your order is ready... or if things aren't jammin', they'll bring it out to you. There are also a few seats at the bar. While you're waiting, head to the sauce station in the back and sample the lineup... find your favorite. They're all great. I've now been here twice and everything has been excellent. The Pork Spare Ribs are tender, meaty, and loaded with flavor... perfectly cooked... loved them. The sides are also very good... my favorite was the Caribbean Slaw with spicy citrus vinaigrette. Also enjoyed the Kale Caesar and Coconut Rice & Peas. The Crinkle Cut Fries are fine, though I see room for improvement here. I always assumed Jerk Chicken was extremely hot, so I was never interested in ordering it. But after talking with "the boys" on my first visit, I came back specifically to try the chicken... and also the burger after hearing a guest, clearly a regular, rave about it. Visit #2... The Jerk Chicken is absolutely amazing! And no... it isn't HOT. The sauce is magical... addictive, really. The chicken, like everything else here, is very high quality and cooked perfectly, very moist and flavorful... so great! Now let's talk burgers... and yes, they are excellent. Interestingly, the "single" Old Fashioned Hamburger actually comes with two patties, shaved red onion, pickles, and Fancy Sauce on a toasted Martin's potato roll. The "double" gets three patties. So that photo of the $5 Happy Hour Burger (daily from 4:30-5:30 at the bar and high-tops only) is correct, the two-patty "single" Burger. An amazing burger for five bucks. Loved it. We added extra cheese (+$2). The Hot & Sweet Hushpuppies... savory corn batter topped with chili honey and served with whipped honey butter... dense but very tasty. The Jimmy Red Cornbread, made with Jimmy Red Corn from Marsh Hen Mill, was a bit different and enjoyable. Like everything else here, they put real thought into their beer selections. I was very impressed with the Gulfstream Graphic Hybrid IPA. Don't sleep on the excellent Frozen Margaritas. Even the music selection was spot-on and fit the place perfectly. Holy smokes. Best burger I have ever had. Both my husband and I said it. I liked that we could order on the screen, sit outside with our toddler and try so many unique bbq sauces. We have been wanting to try the new Tropical Smokehouse in Delray since it opened, so we stopped in yesterday. We parked next door in a lot with free parking, which was convenient. There was plenty of open seating inside since most people seemed to prefer sitting outside when we walked by. You can either order with someone at the front or use the electronic ordering screen. I ordered the chopped brisket sandwich, and my boyfriend ordered the burger and another chopped brisket sandwich. The chopped brisket sandwich was good and had a generous amount of meat on it, though there were a few fatty pieces. It was served on a nice bun. My boyfriend enjoyed both sandwiches, but he was especially wowed by the burger, he's still talking about how good it was! The sides are $5 each, but you can choose 3 for $13, which is what we did. We got the kale Caesar, mac and cheese, and fries. The kale Caesar was good, but it could have used a little more dressing, so I asked for an extra side. The mac and cheese was pretty good, and the fries were nice and crispy. They had around five different BBQ sauces, including spicy, mustard, coffee, sweet, and white BBQ sauce. They were all unique, but we didn't absolutely love any of them. We'll definitely be back, though. They have a happy hour every day from 4:30-5:30 with $5 single burgers and 50% off drinks. Came here Sunday night for a quick bite with my boyfriend at Tropical Barbecue, and overall had a great experience. I loved the variety of sauces they offer. He ordered the full rack of ribs and they did not disappoint -- the seasoning and flavor were absolutely on point. I really enjoyed the mac and cheese and the crinkle-cut cheese fries as well. The only downside was the brisket, which was extremely lean, dry, and lacked flavor. Honey got the jerk chicken sandwich. The burger was deeee-lish, made from sirloin and brisket with a cheese sauce that has a hot bite now and again, served on a warm, soft bun, crisp outside edges, juicy and tender inside. Little disappointing. Ordered online for pick up. Brisket sandwich wasn't really chopped with chunks like it looks in picture. More like the thin slices chopped up so more like shaved? No sauce came with it. Maybe I was confused with the ordering. Said it came with sauce and to only add if I wanted extra. A bit small imo for the price. We absolutely LOVE Tropical Smokehouse in WPB, so couldn't have been more excited for this location to open up. We came in today on a Sunday afternoon and the restaurant was pretty empty, only one other couple there... you would think that would mean we would've gotten great service and attention but no quite the opposite. Our order of over $120 for lunch for 4.. - drinks weren't brought out at all - when they finally prepared them (after our food was made and we mentioned that we didn't get our drinks) we had to go back up to the bar to pick them up - there were at least 2x the number of employees vs. patrons at the restaurant... nobody could bring the drinks to the table? Not even (in case it's not their standard process) as a way to apologize for not serving them earlier? - we ordered three double smash burgers (which we love at the original location) in addition to a number of other items ($120+ order) and I realized a couple minutes after placing the order that we forgot to add cheese (yes it's not standard on a smash burger here). I went up to the counter apologized for our mistake and said that we meant to order the burgers with cheese. The employee said they are already made and there was nothing they could do, when I said OK, then let's remake them and I would pay for that, the simply gave us some slices of cold American cheese on a plate - we ordered "double" burgers but instead of two thinly, juicy, smashed patties we got three burnt and dry small oval mini mounds of beef - this was NOT a smash burger. - the bun was also burnt in two of the burgers - thinking that this location is similar to the other one, we tipped when placing the order - at a place that doesn't bring drinks, doesn't deliver food to the table, doesn't clean the table, shows zero empathy or understanding - leaving a tip shouldn't be an option. What are we tipping for? - it's ironic that the restaurant just posted an instagram video of their double smash burger and what we got was nothing like it and terrible to boot. - bunch of employees just standing around doing nothing in an empty restaurant and not one of them came and asked how the food or experience was, at a restaurant that just opened - hard to believe but true. We love this new spot in Delray! The backyard is amazing for families and there is a lot of shade, so it is a great place to hang out and have a couple beers with a couple meals with great food. I have eaten BBQ all over the country and have been disappointed with FL BBQ. Was very excited to see this place open especially in a building that has been empty for a long time. I parked out front and wasn't clear about the entrance while hoping my car was safe... First impressions- brown on brown. They didn't spend a lot on the interior designer. One wall has a few posters. There's a small sign barely visible advertising the happy hour burger special. When I want BBQ I don't want a smash burger. My favorite BBQ places smell like BBQ when you get near the restaurant. Not the case here. They have two smokers out back, but not sure when they were used last. Outside area is kind of sad with Astro turf. Inside you can watch the guys cook a smash burger. There's no TV so this will be your entertainment. I always enjoy ribs and football, but that won't happen here. Limited menu - No platters/combos. No sausage. No turkey. No collard greens. No beans. No burnt ends. No sweet potato casserole. The trays are cheap plastic from your local middle school. Ribs look better on metal trays. I like to see paper towels and bbq sauce on tables. The food - I ordered the pork ribs. I would have preferred to order a combo. Their sister restaurant does platters so I found that weird. The ribs were better than I expected. Didn't fall off the bone, but good and had plenty of juice. The bartender told me they had six BBQ sauces to try that you need to get yourself. One of the six was ketchup which should have been a huge red flag. The coffee BBQ sauce isn't bad. Mustard is decent, but too watery. None of them blew me away. Overall I hope they succeed, but I'm not sure. Service was nice and they are trying. They claim FL BBQ has a storied history more than any other state. They should do a drive to SC or fly to TX for research. Rodney Scott in CHS can give them a few tips or Arthur Bryant's in KC. read more

I definitely love my BBQ, so when a new BBQ place opens, I've got to try it. The BBQ here was ok, maybe good. I went back and forth between 3 stars and 4 and gave them the benefit of the doubt. The service was good and everyone was very friendly. You order at a counter and they text you when your order is ready and you carry your tray to your table so there is no waitress/waiter service. When you're done, you throw away your own garbage. It was a perfect January night to sit outside. Seating in the summer time is going to be another story because the inside was really smokey from the close proximity of the kitchen. They use a lot of vinegar in everything, on the ribs, in the sauces and the Coleslaw. I know that this is a popular bbq style, but I don't care for it. The ribs and brisket are very tender and cooked perfectly. They have 6 different sauces to try. The mac and cheese and corn bread were good. Some honey butter with the corn bread would have been really good. It's a cheaper, quicker, more casual meal to the restaurants further down Atlantic, so I'd probably try it again. read more

Another amazing meal at Tropical!! Had the chicken legs which were delicious. Crispy skin with tender juicy meat with orange sauce and a touch of the hot bbq.. WOW!!
