Growing up in New York, Sunday was often the day the family would go out for Chinese food. So when I saw Chef Michael's video the other day announcing he was going to start offering Egg Rolls on Sundays, I immediately remembered wanting to try the BBQ Chinese Spareribs already on his regular menu. I started thinking... if the Chinese food at Flybird is anywhere near as impressive as everything else they do, this could be a revelation... especially considering the dearth of really good Chinese food in South Florida. So I waited for Sunday with anticipation. Yes... they had Egg Rolls! And I also noticed they recently added Egg Drop Soup to the regular menu. Perfect... now I could assemble a complete meal. In addition to the Egg Rolls, I ordered the Egg Drop Soup, BBQ Chinese Ribs, and Chicken Fried Rice. Wow! Winner Winner Chinese Dinner!! Everything was excellent. The Egg Drop Soup is rich and heartier than the versions you typically see... absolutely delicious. The Egg Roll is hand-rolled and feels like a gourmet interpretation... exactly what you'd expect if a serious chef decided to elevate a classic, served with housemade Duck Sauce and Chinese Mustard. The BBQ Ribs were also fantastic... fall-off-the-bone tender, meaty, and loaded with flavor. And then there's the Chicken Fried Rice... unlike any version you've probably had before. It's packed with generous chunks of chicken and real vegetables throughout. Broccoli in fried rice? When have you ever seen that? A huge portion too... loved it. Everything here always seems to be done with thought and care. We're lucky to have a serious chef like Michael bringing his culinary talent and creativity to Delray Beach. Having only tried this place as part of a Yelp! event, we decided to just give it a shot for dinner. It was just as amazing. The char grilled chicken is moist and delicious with crispy skin, and accompanied by a whole head of roasted garlic, a grilled lemon, fresh beaked bread, and a parsley dipping sauce. Grabbed to-go from Flybird last week for my boyfriend and me, and it was a great healthy takeout option. The chicken was grilled perfectly and really tasty, and all the fixings made the meal feel filling and satisfying. The grilled broccoli was yummy, and I definitely stole a few bites of my boyfriend's mac and cheese Only downside is that it's a very small place, so it's not ideal if you're planning to dine in. There's a really cozy dine in area with a mix of vibes: country style chairs on one side, an industrial table with red stools on the other, with some tables and chairs outside too. You can see right into the kitchen from behind the counter, to really appreciate the work they put into this fresh food. The staff is incredibly attentive, offering up great suggestions and information about the options. Kayla was super friendly, checked in on me and everyone throughout the restaurant, without missing a beat in taking orders at the counter and giving out pickups as folks came in. Everything was delicious, cooked perfectly, and super fresh. It's definitely chef style preparation which goes a long way. The crunchy chicken sandwich was enormous and delicious. For the platters, the chicken was very moist and extremely flavorful, with great seasonings on the skin. The sides were all amazing, especially the mashed potatoes, beets, and creamed spinach. I love the extra thought and extra mile they put into the platter, serving it with toasted bread, a cup of sauce, and a whole head of roasted garlic. The chocolate chip cookie tastes like pure butter -- PERFECT! I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with all of the fixings on the side, which I regretted! The chipotle mayo, Cole slaw & pickles compliment the grilled chicken perfectly. The servings are huge. I could only finish half of my sandwich. The restaurant is cute & you can see the chefs grilling the chicken in the back, which is amazing. The owner is still around, so you know the quality is still there. We did a walk-in Takeaway order at Flybird. Staff was so friendly and accommodating. We sat the table outside and waited until our when it was ready, and then it was brought to us. We ordered a 1/2 chicken with mashed potato's and broccoli- the grilled lemon that I came with was nice to touch and really accentuated the flavors of the food when squeezed over it! Omg such a cool little gem! Went here while on vacation in Delray area and it was such a treat! The restaurant is really cozy and cute, it seems like more of a takeout place but there are a few tables and it's super pleasant to dine in! You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. The service is lovely. They have a highchair which we needed and was great for our one year old. The food was so delicious! We ordered a half chicken meal and the fried chicken sandwich. The roast chicken was great! I loved the green sauce and roasted garlic, everything had a nice char grilled flavour! I especially enjoyed the dark meat which was juicy and full of flavour. We got the creamed spinach and Mac and cheese as our sides and both were amazing, I could eat the creamed spinach every day. The absolute star was the chicken sandwich, this thing was massive, the chicken was perfectly crispy, pounded thin but not too thin, still moist, the coleslaw and spicy sauce and bun were all amazing complements to the sandwich. I would highly recommend the fried chicken sandwich if you're going to pick one thing from the menu, it's spectacular! Two tables outside and also lots of pick up orders coming in. I can't believe that I didn't know they were at this location. My daughter knew exactly where it was in the fresh market plaza. I got the half chicken plate with 2 sides. It's a lot of food. The Cesar salad has a few tomatoes in it. The Mac and cheese tasted like the one you would get at Whole Foods. Chicken is perfectly cooked and served with glass plate and real silverware. Eliminating waste for sure. They have lots of fresh made items I still need to try like mango juice and mango popsicles made with real mango and fresh squeezed tamarind lemonade or Reggae Palmer. Absolutely amazing! Greeted by Sherri who gave me the story behind the restaurant and met the owner Michael. The food is made with love and you can taste it. The ordered the power chicken with chargrilled broccoli. The signature green sauce is amazing! Started with homemade chips and finished with a cookie and fresh mango juice. ZERO added sugar. They use the mango pits that still have meat on them and soak in water. Such a fantastic treat! It's super small and cute with a family atmosphere. I also ordered a Mango Fruit Drink & Cookie. While I waited at the table for my Food, I couldn't get over how clean the Restaurant was. With only six tables indoors you need to get there before the Lunch Crowd. When the Brook brought out my food, I couldn't believe the size of my Sandwich. It would have easily fed two. The Potato Chips were still hot as was the Chicken. The Crunchy Cole Slaw was the best I've had in a long time. I set my sights on enjoying the meal and I was not disappointed. The Chicken was moist and delicious, the condiments on the Sandwich just enhanced the experience. Discretion being the better part of valor, I didn't eat the top of the Potato Bun. Came in at 4 pm on a Wednesday. The place was empty. Was greeted warmly by the receptionist & the cook. I ordered 1.2 chicken with (2)sides. The chicken was yummy, the Broccoli was charred ( very different & good), and the Beets were yummy; dressed with oil, lemon & Dill. Wow, it has taken me too long to write this review because I couldn't find the pics that I took during my visit to Delray Beach! This place is fantastic! I visited on a Friday and was able to order and get my food in a short time, even though it was very busy. They have one person at the register (sort of running the show) and two in the back cooking and prepping the food and orders. I ordered my regular...a grilled chicken sandwich with pickles (they did not have any ketchup but that is ok). The put my sandwich on a potato roll which was fresh and delicious! I eat alot of chicken and I have to say, this place was in the top 3 of the best sandwiches that I have ever eaten. It was awesome! The problem was that I didn't start eating until I started to drive (we were running late) which did not allow me to go back and order another one! I loved the set up with the grill in the middle of the store with a fan over the top. The main focus was the grill! The staff seemed very nice and happy! I am confident that I will make it back here someday soon. He ordered his with chips and I ordered mine with macaroni and cheese. We both had beverages from the beverage case. The person taking our order was nice and helpful but after spending almost $50 for a weekday lunch we were super unimpressed with our meals. We sat down, and our table received our food about 10 minutes after ordering. The sandwiches were huge. We probably could have split it. The chicken itself was perfectly cooked, but was really under seasoned. The sandwich was OK but just was missing something.. the sandwich was super underwhelming and kind of wet. Overall, I wasn't impressed and probably won't be back.
