The smoothies are almost always done incredibly fast and I've never had a mistake. The store has never appeared messy and the staff are constantly keeping themselves busy either cleaning or serving. I went to the Tropical Smoothie Cafe location in Gaylord, MI on Friday, October 21, 2022. I placed an order for pick up via the app and went in to pick up the order as scheduled. I had the misfortune of having placed my order after approximately 20 kids and their parents/chaperones had placed theirs. My food was ready about 5 minutes after the scheduled pick up time. My smoothies were 15 minutes late. Normally this would annoy me a bit, but I had a great employee interaction. I sat at the counter and watched a young man make smoothie after smoothie. He was making them 3-4 at a time, moving as quickly and efficiently as possible. He alternated between preparing drinks, cleaning equipment, and handing drinks to customers. I was amazed at how competently he was doing the job. He was pleasant with each customer interaction. My order finally came up. He made my smoothies and placed them in the to go box. As I reached for them, he genuinely apologized for how long I had waited. He was working under pressure, busting his butt, and still took the time to provide a great customer experience. The Avocalada is wonderful, however the young girl who took my order that constantly rolled her eyes at my wife after they forgot about making my order was not. I kindly asked where my smoothie was after 3 customer orders after mine were filled. They forgot. It's ok, I understand it happens. We were patient. But the nasty looks were not necessary. Been in here quite a few times since they opened and almost every time I come I get poor customer service and mediocre smoothies. 95% of the time they don't mix the smoothies fully and they see u when u come in but don't acknowledge you or anything. I've been to a quite afew tropical smoothies elsewhere and they process smoothies right and customer service is great. I love tropical smoothie and it disappoints me to say and experience this.
