Their bacon cheese sandwich & iced coffee was really good. Service was friendlier than the few times we've been here prior and the area was far better presentable; was very clean with new furniture. Maybe don't do a shout out to employees that they need to thaw the ciabatta bread perhaps we really didn't need to hear that. I couldn't tell anyway the sandwich was wonderful. Pretty interesting place. Very large, spacious dining room. You could hold a small meeting in here. The young ladies were very knowledgeable and a big help getting me from the order line to the pick-up line. The food is not the greatest, but most probably don't come in for that. Anytime you take frozen to the microwave, you sacrifice. The latte issue is most curious. The cup is 3/4 filled and topped off with a generous dollop of whipped cream. In the future, if I say no topping, will I get more drink? I'm no expert but this coffee tastes burnt. Serves me right for stopping in at 2:30pm. But that shouldn't really matter, should it? This location keeps getting worse. Order the same drink and it ALWAYS tastes different! Today I decided to switch it up and got a cream freeze...I've had them before so I know how they are. Well today it was barely blended so was a pretty much iced drink. I had to wait until it melted to drink since the big ice cubes kept getting stuck in the straw...most ice cubes were still full not even blended though. This store needs to be more consistent with the instructions and ingredients....less gabbing and joking around with other staff and just do your job! I never leave tips at this location anymore because its usually wrong, so much so that I've been going to Starbucks or Tim Hortons. read more

Cute little shop, pit stop as I'm going to Detroit. The sitting area was fairly large, with chairs/tables and also more comfy chairs. Think of Starbucks sitting area with more lights all around. I tried a caramel mocha iced drink and a bagel ham/cheese sandwich -- kudos to adding cream cheese to the bagel! Made it more unique and yummy (tip: add another slice of ham though to the sandwich). The caramel mocha drink was fairly sweet - though I guess with a caramel and mocha swirl, its what I should have expected. I would come back if I lived in the area. read more

I've been coming to Biggby even back when it was under another name (different area). In Gaylord, I've been using this location for the last several years. Katie is amazing. I've joked that one of us is "here too much" because she is almost always my barista. And when I thought I would go a little easier on my calories and cut back my trips, she noticed when I skipped a few days! As someone in customer service -- whose job is to focus on the customer EXPERIENCE, I appreciate she introduces herself through the drive thru during her greeting. This morning, I was given a personal note on my coffee cup lid - maybe it was done for everyone, but today I happened to forget to put on makeup during my rush to facilitate 3 kiddies onto the bus before I had to go to work too. A "you're beautiful" note put a smile on my non-makeup'd face! The little things make the biggest differences - nowadays you can go "anywhere" to get a cup of coffee... so the small things make you stand out the most. I am traveling through michigan and decided to try out this coffee shop instead of Starbucks and I am so happy I did! The menu was so unique and colorful and I saw lots of drinks and food items I have never seen or heard of before! But the two girls working the drive through I believe their names were Maggie and Anna were so kind and helpful! We just waited 35 minutes in the drive-thru. We were the 6th car in line and watched the Starbucks line (double in size)pass everyone through in ease and continued to move. What a bummer. I stopped in here on my way up north for some coffee over the Labor Day holiday. In hindsight, I should have kept on going. This was probably the filthiest, most rundown Biggby's I've ever seen. When I walked in, I nearly tripped over the cord to a vacuum plugged in nearby. It was right in front of the door, no warning, nothing. Apparently, someone had decided to vacuum at some point, but nobody was using it by the time I walked in. The whole time I was there, the vacuum ust sat there, unattended and still plugged in next to the door, an obvious tripping hazzard. Do they want to be sued by someone who breaks a leg? The line was short, but slow. I have no idea what the holdup was, especially considering there were at least three people behind the counter. I didn't find the staff very friendly, just civil in a robotic sort of way. Not a single employee made eye contact with any customer. Strange. I went down to the end to grab my coffee. What I wanted was the chocolate-flavored coffee, but that wasn't what I got. I started dispensing it into my cup and two spurts later, nothing. It was empty. I told the girl behind the counter, she rolled her eyes and ignored it. Ok, thanks! Instead of complaining further, I grabbed Hazelnut, instead. The coffee cream was curdled, so with my coffee ruined, I had to ask for a fresh to-go cup and start over again. No one bothered to replace the cream. Interesting. At least the coffee was semi-hot. The furniture looked like it had seen better days. It was definitely more shabby than chic. An ill-fitting chair cover was thrown over one club chair and the other one was clearly stained in several spots. Everywhere I looked, straw wrappers and used napkins littered the floor. I guess they never really got around to vacuuming that day. Hmm. Just about table was scratched and the outdoor patio area looked like it belonged in the backyard of an abandoned house. It did not look inviting. If this was the only game in town when it came to coffee, I would still drive out of my way and avoid this Biggby if I lived in Gaylord. It doesn't measure up. read more

Heavy traffic in this area so getting in and out is tough. Gaylord needs more attractive businesses but this place doesn't really help. I think Dunkin Dounuts has better service and coffee. I'm spoiled. Coming from the west coast where coffee is considered a culinary art this coffee spot was a bit fast foodie for me. The coffees were more like beverages than a real cup of java with pumps of syrups. More dessert than coffee. Guess I prefer my Peet's style coffee over Baskin Robbin's if I can even compare the two. But I'm giving it three stars because this was Gaylord and not San Francisco. So for that fact, I liked it. read more

Working in retail, I'm kind of big on customer service and she definitely did not let us down. She told us about the the rewards card. The caffeination equivalent of Ben Afleck's Daredevil. I've been a loyal patron of Biggby for over a decade--since it was Beaner's--and had the chance to visit many of their franchisees, listen in on their training, and enjoy the customer-focused experience at many of their locations in multiple states. Whether next to the home office in Lansing or far away in Illinois, each store strives to make each customer's day a little better by the time they leave the store than when they walk in. Except this one. This one will cancel your favorite tv show and tell you that your socks don't match your shoes. One of the northern-most points for caffeeine in the lower penninsula, this franchise location somehow manages to skirt around the customer-centric focus of the Biggby Coffee brand and just make you feel like you should be glad Gaylord has something more than a crappy Starbucks in the local Food-N-Stuff. I keep wanting to like this place; but only do so out of necessity rather than experince. My latest visit finally prompted me to review a chain, which I usually don't. The coffee is the same quality you can expect from Biggby, the decor is a bit open and sparse but unobjectionable, and it's pretty clean. But the service is basically 17-year old Gaylord kids who think coffee is just "black tea" and have little need to provide customer service given the limited options in the area. (Though this may change as Starbucks has opened in literally the adjacent plaza.) My latest trip made me sad when I'd orderd my standard drink. As it was called out and slid across the bar, the barista sprinkled crushed peppermint on top. I noted that my drink did not come with peppermint, and asked for a new (and correct) drink. This request was met with an exasperated gasp and the phrase, "What, you didn't want the peppermint?" No, I did not, as (a) I loathe crushed candy cane in my beverage and thus (b) ordered a drink without it. Seconds later my drink reappeared. A little investigation revealed there was still peppermint flakes on the drink's surface. Bringing this to the barista's attention, I asked for the drink to be remade again, noting there was still peppermint in the beverage I'd been given. "There's no peppermint in it," she bleated, as I pointed out the flakes. "It looks like you just skimmed off the earlier whip and peppermint and reapplied the whipped cream," I replied, "but there's still peppermint." "No there's not," was herr informed retort, as she was evidently blind as I was pointing out the offending candy. While this may seem pithy, let's take a quick review: In the matter of a minute, she'd managed to make the wrong drink, call me a liar, and half-ass her job. When I'm buying a $6 'coffee' (And I'll be honest with myself here; save the espresso beans there's little to resemble coffee in my order.) perhaps I could get all of my drink and none of the teenage angst-riddled attitude. It's a store of convenience, not of comfort or quality. I can only pray a Biggby opens up in Macinaw or Grayling so I can eschew this boring member of Bibby Bob's cadre. read more

Convenient location right off of I-75 and M-32 makes this a staple for travelers needing a pick me. Good service but don't be surprised with longer wait times during peak hours. Can be a bit of a hassle trying to make a left turn out of the parking lot if you're heading back to I-75 or M-32 eastbound. read more

Always a fan of Biggby, they have a lot of good coupons and buy one get one deals. Unique drinks that don't taste over sugared like Starbucks. They also have soy milk for those looking for a non-dairy alternative! They have nice summertime drinks too without coffee if you're looking for something cool and refreshing. read more

This has always been my go to coffee shop. But lately every time I stop here it makes me want to take my business next door to Starbucks. When I go through the drive-thru it takes forever and this is when I want to go next door but I can't because they have an island along the whole drive-thru making it impossible to pull out of the drive-thru once your in it. First of all, none of your staff know how to make the simplest of coffee orders. I asked for an iced carmel macchiato and I received half a cup of coffee with 2 shots of expresso. When I told her that is not what I ordered, the barista then proceeded to argue with me about what a carmel macchiato is. I love Biggby and this location in Gaylord is the most northern I have visited in michigan. The location of this store is a bit difficult to get to. You can forget about trying to get back on the highway if there is any traffic because it requires an impossible left turn that simply isn't going to happen. Despite location issues, they have excellent coffee and I much prefer this to Starbucks given a choice. Similarly to Starbucks, they assume everyone ordering understands their sizing and crazy names. This is a "shout out" post and review to the two young women who were working this morning (5/17/2019) around 10:45 am EST. Both these young ladies had a string of awful, rude, disparaging customers (through NO fault of their own) prior to my order. Not only did they both continue to provide exceptional service to subsequent customers, but they also did so with a positive, friendly demeanor, all while being exceedingly polite and smiling. These women are amazing, true assets to any company they choose to work for in their careers. In fact, they were so unshaken by these prior inexcusably horrid customers that they both made me feel exceedingly welcome; even going so far to pause for a moment to compliment me on my outfit of choice for the day. I was more than pleased to tip over 20% for these young, flawlessly resilient, and unselfishly pleasant ladies. May your attitudes, smiles, and work ethics be contagious! You both definitely made my Friday morning quick-stop the brightest, sunny spot of my day. Oh, and, my special order iced coffee and bragel were perfectly delicious. THANK YOU! read more
