I ordered online and it took over 20 minutes for my food and smoothie to be done. When I asked where it was because I was seeing others come into the store and drive thru and get their orders before me I was told it's being worked on. I then watched as more people were served and then finally mine was made. It was then handed to me with a rude attitude. If Sunday is your busy day hire more people. Great experience here today. Never been through a tropical drive-thru before! The lady in the intercom was super patient and kind. Our order did take a little bit to be ready, so not sure I would call this speedy. However, my smoothie tasted better than I have usually had when the workers are in a rush in the DC area. Quality was high and I really enjoyed my handcrafted smoothie and half turkey apple Dijon sandwich. Perfect amount for lunch. My boyfriend liked his blueberry bliss and loved his hummus veggie wrap. Where to begin? I can only hope that a manager or owner sees this review. We decided to walk into this establishment to pickup our order, as we were towing a trailer from Lowe's. Thought that would be the best option. We totally understand TS takes awhile to have fresh food made, but today's visit was inexcusable.!! This is the most disorganized restaurant that I think I've ever been to. No sign of a manager anywhere. There were 5 young adults working inside the restaurant, and only maybe 1 seemed to care. They were moving at snail's speed. The girl making the sandwiches just tossed ingredients around like she was angry about working, and the girl in the drive thru did nothing but fuss at the smoothie makers to go faster. Our smoothie took about 25 mins to be made. Our food was bagged up and placed in the drive through area, which got cold when we asked about it. A guy in the sandwich area was kind enough to offer to remake, but then only remade 1 of the 2 we ordered. All in all, it took us nearly 40 mins to get our entire order. This experience wasn't unique to us today. Everyone was waiting. The drive thru times should be horrendous. Since I had time to observe my surroundings, I noticed the restaurant could also use a good cleaning. The return vents and ceilings are coated with a thick layer of dust. read more

If I could give this zero stars I would. Me and my son were at a 2-day soccer camp at JMU. He wanted something light for lunch so we came here. Twice. BIG mistake. The first day we went inside to order. We got the smoothies in 5-10 minutes and waited 35 minutes for his quesadilla! I can make a quesadilla in 2 minutes! I asked at the 25 and 30 min mark and was told each time it was coming right out. At 35 min I asked for a manager and the food miraculously was found ready on the counter at that exact moment. I can't believe we came back the next day, but again my son wanted something light. We tried the drive thru. BIGGER mistake. After 20 minutes we were trapped in line with no escape. At 50 minutes we got our food: 2 smoothies and a quesadilla, again. The day before, they had given us 2 edible lime straws and 2 regular straws without asking. The lime ones were kind of tasty, so when they only gave us one lime and 2 regular straws at the drive thru, naturally I asked for a second lime one. She told me it would cost extra. I lost my &@#! First of all, 2 smoothies, 2 straws, right?!? Second of all, we'd been waiting 50 minutes, trapped in line. The manager relayed that they could comp me the extra edible straw (gee thanks) but was too cowardly to come to the window and apologize for the unacceptable way they are running this Tropical Smoothie business. WHEN THEIR TEE SHIRTS SAY 'YOU'RE ON TROPICAL TIME NOW,' believe them. My son works part-time at Smoothie King. Go there instead. ordered through the app with ease, gave an eta of 25 minutes... no problem, app says it will notify us when ready. We arrive and sit for 15 minutes. go inside no food on the shelf with our name. I see the employees add some items to the shelf. Check again and our food is there but smoothies are not with the bag. We wait, and wait and wait til i finally ask and the employees points to our smoothies on a different shelf and illegible handwriting so it was impossible to identify they were ours. annoying but we get back to the car to dig in. one smoothie had so much whey protein it was white even though it was watermelon based. my smoothie wasn't blended fully and had chunks of fat burner, and i didn't get my edible like straw. To top off our horrible experience, our food was lukewarm, i didn't feel safe eating any of it at that temperature. a $30 order into the trash, don't waste your time at this location, the one on Port Republic is always perfect. read more

This tropical smoothie is amazing. I came in to Harrisonburg for the weekend, and went to get breakfast on my way home. The staff was exceptionally friendly and quick- I have a go-to order from their retired menu and they were able to make it perfectly and maybe even better than anywhere else near me. I got the avocado grilled cheese as well, and it looked out of a gourmet shop. This place is wonderful. read more

If I could I would give it 0 stars. I started going to this tropical cafe because it's closer to my house and the one on port road gets absolutely slammed at times with all the college students. I have never had a pleasant experience at this location and the experience I had today was awful. I pulled into the drive thru a little after 11 and was the only car there. I ordered one smoothie and pulled up to the window. I sat outside the window for 5 mins before the employee even opened it. When she did, she didn't say a word to me. I handed her my card, she handed it back, handed me my smoothie and I left. All of that without ONE SINGLE WORD. She didn't tell me "hi", she didn't tell me my total, she didn't say "thank you", she didn't tell me to have a good day. I have never had someone be so rude to me without actually saying anything to me. Also, even though I have waited much much longer at both locations before, I feel that 5 mins for one smoothie when I am the only car there is a bit much. If it takes that long to make a smoothie, she could have greeted me, let me know that it would be a minute, and went from there. I used to go to tropical cafe multiple times a week. I will never go back to this location. I guess I will have to wait until the college kids leave on break to go to the other one. read more
