Tropical Smoothie Cafe is a great spot to take a break or grab a quick meal. They have a smoothie for pretty much everyone's taste and their food is delicious, as well. This location is next to a Sam's Club in a small strip mall, right as you turn in. The parking situation is not ideal. There are only a few spots directly in front so you may find yourself walking a little. I had to circle a few times to find a space close by. As I walked in, I was warmly greeted and I stood back with the others waiting for their orders. I had ordered ahead with their app, which is quick and convenient. I highly recommend using it. Unfortunately, curbside isn't available at this location, so you will have to go inside. Their seating area is nice, we'll spaced, and clean. They have a gender neutral family restroom. If you have not ordered using the app, their menu is posted above the work area. As I waited, I chatted with one of the employees as he made my smoothie. I got the Sunrise Sunset - strawberries, pineapple, mango, & orange juice. I substituted Splenda and added a B12 shot. I also got one of their edible lime straws, which was quite tasty with my delicious smoothie. Way to go for helping the planet! Their menu is large enough you should be able to find something you like. Their smoothie line up is great. You can choose from Super Veggie, Balanced Fusion, Fruit Blend, and Tropical Treat menus. You can't go wrong, no matter what you choose and they always have a featured smoothie to try. Right now it's the Hurricane. Yummy! You can customize your smoothie in a number of ways and you can choose an edible or regular straw. I encourage you to try either the strawberry or lime edible straw. They keep the plastic ones out of the landfills and taste great, too. It's 99 cents. You can choose to leave out any of the ingredients you choose. You can customize your sweetness by subbing Splenda, half Turbinado, or no Turbinado. They offer fresh add ins of Açaí, almonds, avocado, banana, blueberry, Chia seeds, coconut, cranberries, dark chocolate, ginger, Flax seeds, kale, kiwi, lime, mango, non-fat vanilla yogurt, OJ, Peanut butter, pineapple, pomegranate, spinach, spinach & kale super pack, strawberry, white chocolate, and whole grain oats. Lastly, you can add supplements. They offer Collagen, Energizer, Fat Burner, Pea Protein Powder, Probiotic, Multi-Vitamin, Vitamin B-12, Vitamin C Complex, and Whey Protein Powder. Their food menu offers offer Breakfast wraps, flatbreads, wraps, sandwiches, quesadillas, salads, and kid's menu, some and offers fruit, chips, and cookies. They also have maple kissed sweet potatoes and Jalapeño corn. You can pair a main with a smoothie to save a little cash. Don't forget their app to earn rewards for free smoothies. I asked Sam, about how much longer would it take and she says, "I was the only one here" --while there are 2 other employees here, she then says, "it'll be ready" and walks off with an attitude. Based on the reviews, from the customer's perspective this place is obviously lousy, but WORKING there is an even higher level of disappointment. I worked at this location from about Sep 2025 - Nov 2025. Management was awful, and despite that place being genuinely disgusting, corporate policy was more valued than that unfortunately. The work environment is stressful. From your end, an employee might have rung up your specific smoothie wrong, while on their end, the setup of the kitchen and mix of orders is confusing as it gets. When this place gets busy, working here is absolute hell. Long story short, parents, don't let your child work here. Customers, if you're expecting top of the line service, don't, you'll be disappointed. Mostly because management has zero backbone or true leadership, while the kitchen setup is a nightmare, and the accumulated stress of working there will inevitably cause mix-ups at least once per day. The manager that worked there when I got hired was so toxic towards us, that he eventually got fired for calling a teenage girl who worked there a b**** behind her back to another worker. I was there to witness him being let go which is the epitome of how that place was ran. They apparently hire anyone there. Not to mention after new management came in, some sort of district/regional or non-local manager who was hunch backed, lazy eyed and was honestly a pure ugly sight, also came in to help. I'll tell you, it was the most obnoxious experiences I'd ever had working with someone EVER. This guy was supposed to be upper-level management somewhere in Florida, yet couldn't even make decent tasting smoothies, I mean they didn't even LOOK appealing. He was basically just a policy robot who didn't actually help us at all, especially in a rush. Not to mention how slow he was on food. Most of what we knew, we had already learned from previous management because adapting to this work environment teaches you to do what works, rather than fully abide by policy, because policy doesn't help you get food/smoothies out in a busy rush. I know what some of you are thinking, and I assure you if you worked there too you'd understand, especially with the interactions I had with customers who genuinely believe the world evolves around them. The woman who assisted me forgot to enter my order, and when I checked my food and brought it up, she admitted she hadn't rung it in. Items were missing--including a sandwich and an açaí bowl--and despite the mistake, I was still expected to pay. I was really impressed. The gentleman who took my order was very kind, efficient, and amazing at his job, and the 5 or 6 membered staff behind him was on task, kind, and efficient as well. I came here a few weeks ago on a Saturday morning to try a specific smoothie that my sister told me about. This was my first time coming here but I ended up not getting the smoothie she told me about. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of the smoothie I decided on but I added spinach to it .... to make it "healthier" and for an additional .99. I really loved the consistency of the finished product but I felt like an ingredient was missing . Something was just missing! The smoothie in general was good and priced fairly. Like most shops in this category , they offer food items as well in addition to smoothies/drinks. They serve Salads , sandwiches , etc. The inside isn't huge but has tables to dine in. First time going to Tropical Smoothie and I think I like it. There was a steady stream of customers going in and out. That's usually a good sign of quality products and great service. I was looking for a healthy non dairy smoothie that was under $10. I found it interesting that their menu had healthy options for food and smoothies. I was able to order a green non dairy detox smoothie 20 oz and spent less than $10. The smoothie was great and very filling. I could taste all of the ingredients. I was pleasantly surprised with the quick turnaround of orders. Parking was a little bit of a problem but I will definitely be back! read more

I visit Tropical Smoothie quite often and they never disappoint! For years, I didn't drink any smoothies. But about 2 years ago, my coworker brought me to Tropical Smoothie and I have been hooked ever since. To me, out of all the franchised smoothie companies, Tropical Smoothie is the best! I typically get the Sunrise Sunset smoothie and on my 1st visit, a Tropical Smoothie employee made the suggestion to substitute the orange juice for kiwi, and that combination is what I always get. The smoothie itself is served in a large cup so if you ever wanted to share, you could. It's enough for 2 people. Also, the Sunrise Sunset is not too sweet, but just about right. With my kiwi substitution it also has strawberries, pineapple, and mango. It's very refreshing, especially on a hot summer day! Also with my Sunrise Sunset smoothie, I order a Supergreen Caesar Chicken Wrap. I love this dish. It's just like a Caesar salad, but in a wrap! The ingredients are always fresh and taste great. Within the wrap itself, it has grilled chicken, Caesar dressing, romaine lettuce, kale and spinach blend, shredded parmesan cheese, tomatoes, and parmesan crisps. Also this dish comes with a bag of chips or a side of fruit, which is an extra bonus! The only negative I will say is that they usually put a lot of Caesar dressing on the wrap and therefore if you don't eat it immediately, by the time you get home, your wrap will be soggy. My suggestion is to ask for the Caesar dressing on the side. But other than that, the sitting area is always clean and the employees are always nice so I highly recommend you try a Tropical Smoothie out for yourself! read more

I lived in Birmingham for a year, and my friend, who lived in Hoover said that he had a coupon for this really good smoothie place during Labor Day weekend in 2010. When I arrived at the address, I realized it was the same place I had in the Phoenix area (first tried a year earlier). I remembered I loved the smoothie. The sandwich was kind of mediocre for me, but I realized there are a lot of better food items on the menu. It was the first time trying a food item at Tropical Smoothie. I'll say the same thing as my Alexandria, VA review: One cool thing that Trop Smoothie does is donate to Camp Sunshine, which is a camp on a lake in Maine for children with life-threatening illnesses to give them the opportunity to enjoy various recreational activities around the scenic, picturesque lake, and has helped children from all 50 states & 27 countries. On the 3rd Friday in June from 2-7 PM, it's what they call National Flip Flop Day. If you wear flip flops, you get a FREE smoothie and instead of paying them, you can make a donation to Camp Sunshine. I went to this location on 2 of those National Flip Flop Days. read more

That cookie was one of the best snickerdoodles I've had- almost had a cake like texture. Yummm!! Jimmy got Chia Banana Boost with peanut butter. Very creamy, good mixture of peanut butter, cinnamon, coconut, dates and bananas- seems like a lot going on but the flavors worked well together and was really nice! Satisfied the ice cream craving. I opted for a Green Apple smoothie with green apple, kale, spinach, pineapple, lime and I forget what else. I loved it! Cool smooth icy texture, flavors blended great. The prices aren't bad at all! Around $5+ each. I was expecting a small cup but much to my surprise the size was very generous- maybe 22oz? So much it was hard to finish. There's several I'd like to try later. We have been going to this location for many years. We went Saturday and the poor young lady working the register was like a deer in headlights. I even repeated my order to confirm 3 TIMES and she said yes, that's what she got...paid, got my receipt and it was all wrong. I got the attention of the young woman making the food to explain to her what not to make on the order and what to make. They were really busy and gave me 2 BOGO coupons instead of my money back. I washed them by accident in my shorts! I will say that it does have a lot of calories and it was pretty expensive for 1 smoothie. My only critique is that it could be blended a little better. This has always been my favorite smoothie place in Birmingham. However, I came in today to order the Avocolada smoothie (as I always do) and to my disappointment, it tasted different. The sweet workers were kind enough to remake the smoothie. However, the second one was worse than the first. One of the workers let me know that Tropical Smoothie has recently changed the coconut cream they use in the smoothie. I changed my smoothie to the Açaí Berry Smoothie and it's delicious. I always order one of the various wraps anytime I come here and they're all so good I can't choose a favorite. The restaurant is always clean.
