But my experience , the other night was even better than usual.Tyler and Christie were working and Tyler went out of his way to tell me all about the bowls and which were his favorite and then gave me two small samples to taste. And then encourage me to try one of the sandwiches. So I tried his recommendation of the chicken bacon ranch and I have to say that particular combination was absolutely delicious. I'm back today after reading all the horrific reviews citing cleanliness and Kelly's mistreatment of employees and customers. I'm positive the same Kelly served me both times. She's polite and customer service oriented. I witnessed her coaching/training a young lady for the front counter. Kelly was encouraging and seemed pleasant in her delivery. Placed an order for one of the doctors at work, the wrong location was chosen (not the store's fault) but when I called they said "fruit cove" which was not where we thought the order went to so I told the girl, I called the wrong number. Then when we figured out it was the wrong location, I tried calling the store back and they BLOCKED my phone number. We went to another Tropical Smoothie closer to work, and asked to use their phone and someone answered immediately, I told them what happened and the boy on the phone said to go back to the app and cancel the order there. I told him that the app told me to call the store. He said I could come to the store and get a refund (which was too far) then he put me on hold 3 times, then told me he didn't know what to do and he can take my number and have his GM, Kelly call me. Still haven't received a phone call. It's not about the money, but the principal of the situation. The GENEROUS employees at the other location we called from, gave us our order because of how we were treated. So grateful for people who actually care about customer service. C'mon man. That's all I can say this morning. I was on my way into work today and I decided that I wanted a smoothie. It's not typically a thought I have, but it sounded great. What also sounded great was that I'd be there before 9 to get happy hour and save a bit. I walk in at 8:50. I order my smoothie and as my card is being swiped for full price I ask "isn't it still happy hour?" It's done. I'm charged $5. The guy, a heavy set guy with a beard puts something into the system and shows me the happy hour price on his screen and says it'll be correct on my credit card statement. I sat down, pulled up my credit card and guess what...not accurate. As I'm leaving I let him know that it was wrong and asked if he could fix it. Have you ever been in such utter shock at what just happened all you can say is wow??? Holy crap. I walk in to order food during my lunch break at work. There's a lady at the register (obviously a manager, as she's wearing a sweater and not a TSC shirt) she's not wearing a mask. I stand there kind of caught off guard, every food establishment I've been to, all employees are wearing a mask or face shield, required by the county or not. So finally I ask her.... you don't require masks while working at this establishment?! She tells me no and that they're not required by SJC so she chooses not to wear one. I'm like okay fine, I'm gonna go eat somewhere else. I go get in my car and SHE FOLLOWS ME OUT TO MY CAR. She asks me while standing at my car if I want someone else to help me. I say no, I'm going somewhere else. She tries to tell me that she only came in to see her customers and say hi because she "loves her customers so much" I'm sitting here thinking okay if you loved your customers so much wouldn't you be wearing a mask to protect them and make them feel safe?? She then tells me that I should feel safe because she's wearing gloves. This is after I've literally watched her touch her hair and her sweater with her gloves. News flash: your gloves are contaminated after you've touched your hair and clothes. After her standing at my car going back and forth, she finally went back inside. I am in utter shock at this encounter. It's the fact that she followed me out to my car.... questioning me on my decision to eat somewhere else. My family is high risk and the ONE time I don't bring my lunch to work I just wanted a place to feel safe grabbing lunch at. This pandemic is already hard enough for people to go through, why should I have to be followed out to my car to be questioned on my decision to not eat at your establishment?? I ordered the jerked chicken bowl with a side of kale and apple slaw, and a jerked chicken wrap with chips, with 2 sunshine mango smoothies. Bite squad delivered 2 strawberry smoothies instead of mango, the chicken was cold, no side of kale and apple slaw or chips. The jerked chicken bowl had 3 grains of rice and 4 grains of black beans, beans completely dry. I got the kiwi quencher and the green goddess chicken flatbread. It's probably the best green goddess flatbread I've had from any location. He put the sandwich together perfectly, and quickly! I visited tropical smoothie frequently but this was my first visit to this location. So much wrong with this visit.. 20 minutes to get my smoothie with only 2 people in front of me, the cashier taking payments from customers then cooking food with the same gloves on (during COVID-19 this is even more of a concern), and then after the 20 minutes of waiting, they drop my food and have to start over again. Didn't even get my full order because I was late for a meeting. Will not be back. Looks like a management problem, not the employees so much. read more

This location is not up to par with other locations I've visited on the southside area. I've been here twice with my recent visit just now for lunch. The chicken Caesar wrap was plain tasting and the tortilla was burnt. The beach bum had chunks of banana and ice shards. I told the employee it was blended poorly and she couldn't do anything about it besides make me another. Instead of the staff not spending extra care or attention or a spare 30 seconds to deliver a perfect smoothie that I find at every other location I visit, I have to waste another three minutes waiting for a second one? Absolutely awful customer service, even the manager was of zero help. I placed an order online(which i do frequently) it somehow got switched to an other location. They said several other people have called saying the location changed for their online order as well and they couldn't help them either. When I asked to speak with a manager to see if there was ANYTHING they could do to help me, he was clearly frustrated to talk to me, and said I had to go online to cancel it. There is no way to do that.. I just had a C-section and had a newborn baby in the car. I live too far to drive to their location and it's extremely disappointing that they acted like they did not care at all and it was just my problem to deal with. I'm glad I came here for smoothies for me and my sick boyfriend! Their Jetty Punch, made with strawberries and bananas, perked him up and made him feel better quickly. I went with the seasonal Cranberry Bliss smoothie, made with cranberries and white chocolate. It hit the spot, alongside the Chicken Club Flatbread. Would've been five stars but to be honest the woman in charge not only wasn't wearing a mask, but also seemed to be abusing her power completely. She lacked leadership skills despite her staff being friendly and efficient. I worked here for about three months. My main job did a lot of downsizing so I had to get a second job, and as my significant other used to be the manager, I knew what to expect. The owner gave me my interview and spent the entire interview badmouthing my boyfriend and another previous worker. I was so desperate for a job that I took it, thinking that since she had repeatedly said she wouldn't compare me to me bf, that I would be fine. Boy was I wrong. I have a serious injury to my knee, which she previously knew about. She favored her other employees over me constantly, letting one go home almost as soon as they got there, but me, who could barely walk that day, had to stay. She would call in the middle of the night asking me to work the next day, demanding that I text her back instantly. Many times my pay would be so little I had to choose between paying rent or my phone bill. This led to her belittling me because I couldn't respond to her text messages instantly. The final straw for me was her firing me for calling out the day before a shift, because my knee was so bad I couldn't stand on it at all. She berated next for "not telling her in enough time" and not covering my own shift. She then tried to refuse me my final paycheck and banning me from the store. I went in anyway, and she screamed at me in front of customers and employees alike for screwing her over and not bringing in the shirts that I paid for. I spent ten minutes calmly responding to her rant before I got mad too. DONT WORK HERE AND DONT GIVE HER YOUR MONEY! She also has her employees keep smoothies that were never picked up or returned in the freezer so that they can give them to other people who order the same thing. FYI. read more

The App would not allow you to cancel the order, Clearly stated to call the store to cancel. We called to cancel or transfer to the store closest to our home. The rude employee said Nope nothing I can do. Can't cancel or transfer your order - YOU MUST DO THAT ON THE APP. The App will not allow you to cancel an order. Ten years ago we were working in Bartram Walk Plaza. We built the Gate store out front then started working behind it. This store was one of the first spaces to be occupied. I used to come here before work an get the same breakfast wrap that I'm eating today. Talk about a foodie memory I can't remember what I did 3 days ago but I remember what I ate 10 years ago. Scary ha. Well today's wrap is just as good as I remember. The eggs is cooked right and there is plenty of ham n bacon inside too. I sent my kids in for the free smoothie aka flip flop day raising funds for the sunshine association and was told that they had to make a donation to get the free smoothie. The owner said if you donate 5.00 you get 10pct off or donate a dollar to get the free smoothie. I went to the corporate website and its says FREE but would take any donations. I was planning to give 20.00 dollars to donate but when the kids came out they said they had to pay for them. This business owner is very shady and I think they were taking advantage of the kids.
