We stopped in for dinner. I ordered the single hamburger with everything but onion. It came with two sides which were fries and coleslaw. It was very good! I loved the flavor of the hamburger. The fries were great as well! I'm honestly not a fan of the coleslaw. The peach cobbler milkshake was good as well; just make sure you stir it up well before eating so you get all the ingredients together..... We are so glad Cook Out came to the Jacksonville area!!!!! I a lot times while traveling we would stop at those locations and would wish they would come to our area! Maybe we can wish harder now for a location to come on the Westside of Jacksonville where we live so we don't have to drive 45 minutes to get to this location lol! * We love the burgers and fries. The burgers taste like they are actually cooked outside on a backyard grill (like at a pool party type event or just family grilling). The shakes are good. * We also love the value you get. If you go to other burger places and get the same thing you spend more money. This why we like Cook Out! Great value for good food. * Now the only negative I have about this location; OH MY GOSH it was freezing inside. Wow; they must keep the A/C set 65 degrees or something. We sat eating and I'm literally shaking with chill bumps all over and then look over and my wife and daughter and they were doing the same thing. We had to get up and go outside to eat. I think they could save some money and not make it so cold in there. Which is crazy because I never complain that it too cold in places. Next time I'll just bring a jacket in. It has arrived in JAX! I've had it on a roadtrip and loved the value of it. I will say, I feel like they give less at this location. Idk if its because theyre so busy, and its in their early stages but I was a bit underwhelmed compared to other locations like in GA & NC. But the food, SO GOOD. I'd rather come here for a good burger than five guys. And I am glad this location has seating inside. I found it faster to park, order inside rather than drive thru. On my second attempt here I was finally able to get in to try the brand new cookout, I tried to go yesterday on a Sunday, but they were so packed they had to redirect traffic to get people in. Mid week right when they opened it was much more manageable and the food came out fast and fresh. They specialize in trays here where you can get a big entrée, but the sides that would normally be entrées as well. Things like quesadillas, tacos, chicken wraps, etc. I ended up getting their big double burger cheddar style along with a walking taco, Cajun fries, and they're limited time watermelon shake. This was a ton of food and even with the shake upgrade and the burger upgrade everything was only 12 bucks. This place might not have the fanciest meals, but it's rare in this day and age to compete on value and when it comes to value cookout definitely brings it. My son and I went to cookout in Jacksonville off of Beach of course having just opened the drive-through was chaotic and unorganized. We parked and went inside and ordered. I understand they're working with a price point but I ordered a double cheeseburger with two sides and a drink was inexpensive, but I definitely did not like the taste of the burgers. It's like they brushed on fake barbecue taste or liquid barbecue like Burger King I had heartburn all day. I will say my shake was yummy and lots of options and milkshakes my son had the chicken which again was on the small side and most side items are fried stuff, but we will try again as they were really overwhelmed. There is no real ambience in this restaurant yet. I don't think they finished putting it together as they were rushing to open. I would recommend to look at their menu before going as they try to move quickly, and if you had never been there before there's lots of combination and options, which is nice reasonable prices nothing I had was outrageously great just average. read more

I visited an old Army buddy in Jax. I told him I really wanted to go to Cookout since we don't have any in California. What a pleasant surprise! The restaurant was a bit noisy but the staff was great! I had a tray with the double burger option and added cheese, fries and slaw for sides and upgraded my drink to a strawberry shake. The drive thru was packed, but moved really fast. Every employee I encountered was friendly and helpful. Their #1 goal was to get the order filled and keep the line moving. Our food was hot and delicious. I'm from the city where the original Cookout opened and growing up in NC it has always been a staple. Since moving to Jax 10 years ago, I've wanted to have this place here because it's a taste of home. Yesterday was a dream come true. Got 4 trays for every member of my family. I got the 1/4 burger "Cheddar Style" with double fries and Cajun seasoning and I got the blueberry cheesecake instead of a drink. The food and service was 100/10 just like the Carolinas. Not impressed. We waited 25 mins for an inside order. No one even offered an explanation or apologized. We watched the person in the back having to scroll back to find our order. I'm not sure where to start. The employees didn't smile and were extremely unhelpful. They got upset when my friend asked for a straw, like it was an inconvenience for them to do their job. They immediately stopped smiling with each other, pointed to the corner where the straws were without saying a word then went back to talking to each other and laughing. All they had to do was tell him where they were located with a smile, but I guess they don't get paid enough for that. Then the food. The food was even worse than the service. I tried it with 2 friends. We all got sick. All 3 of us. I've had bad, low quality food in third world countries before, but nothing like this. This genuinely takes the cake. $13 for a double cheese burger, cheese bites, a walkin taco, and a milkshake should have been a warning sign for just how bad the food would be. I shouldn't known a deal this good was too good to be true and would come with a catch. Honestly, bravo to the back of house crew that managed to conjure up the sludge that was served to me and my friends. Oh and by the way, you can see into the kitchen from the cash register. Not a single person I saw handling food was wearing gloves. Not that it would have any effect on the fodder that they're handling back there. Believe it or not, this next part isn't even the worst of it all. My friend found weave in his food. Yes. Not hair. Weave. Not just one strand either, enough for us to differentiate it from real hair. Or at least it didn't feel like real hair. After that we threw our entire meals away. I had only taken 2 bites of my burger, a few of the cheese bites, and a bite of the wet, soggy, cold excuse for a walkin taco. The milkshake was actually pretty good but I also threw the entire thing away just because of how bad the overall experience was. If you're ever curious what eating prison food is like, this is the place for you. I would not come back here even if I was piss drunk. I've attended public schools that served better, hotter, fresher meals for free. At first I thought $13 for all that food was a steal. Now I realize you couldn't pay me enough to eat here again. Me and my friends genuinely sat in the car for 30 minutes after throwing our entire meals away asking each other questions like "would you eat here again for $10,000?" (Nobody said yes) The only reason I gave this place a star is because I had to. I'd say the only good thing that came from this experience was reading the other 1 star reviews of this place and realizing how right they are. I have never wanted an establishment shut down so badly. I'm upset that I even live so close by and have to drive past it so often. To the owner, if you are reading this, I don't want a phone call with your corporate office about deleting my review for a coupon to come back here. If you have any sense of integrity you will shut this place down or at the very least crack down on your staff and hire some actual real management that are educated on food safety. I got a custom hot burger so fast, in a mobbed restaurant, and a drive-through line around the building, so FAST, that they must have been adding each condiment as I spoke them!!! Fucking disgusting. Tasted like public school lunch or prison food. The sound inside was absolutely unbearable--it felt like every conversation and noise was amplified. The lighting was horrendous too, like they intentionally made the place as uncomfortable as possible. The menu and ordering setup felt like navigating a third-world country. The whole experience felt like a bad trip ending in an overdose. Had the fucking shits afterward and had to chase the meal with bleach just to cleanse the memory of it. It's been a little over a week since the cookout officially graced our presence in Jacksonville and I finally made my way across the buckman bridge to try it out....and it was so worth the drive! The staff was friendly and efficient and the ones outside communicated well even while battling the heat and sun! I waited about three minutes in the line before my order was taken and the gentleman was super friendly and answered all my questions. I ordered 5 cookout trays which all came with an entree, 2 sides and a drink for 48.63! We got burgers, chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, onion rings, cheese curds and fries. Everything came out within 5-7 minutes and was fresh and hot! We sat down inside and ate our food and couldn't have been more pleased. Not to mention the restaurant was spotless. I am so excited cookout is now in Jacksonville and hope they can keep up with the quality of the food and the customer service! I will gladly take drive and maybe next time I will have room for a milkshake. As a born and raised North Carolinian it sure was nice to have a fountain cheerwine! read more

I went to the Beach Blvd location yesterday. It was super busy and the car line was long, but the wait wasn't bad. However the food was just ok. The chicken quesadilla was all wrap, little filling. The one part that did have a little chicken and sauce was good but not enough. The side of onion rings was 4-5 small-medium sized pieces and no salt. The Big Double Burger cheddar style was so-so. The bacon was soft and chewy (not crispy at all), the bun was wet/juicy and the condiments were a mess. None of the food was hot, barely warm which was confusing since it was so busy. I am hoping that most of these issues where due to the amount of customers they had as well as new hires and will try again later when the newness dies down. Oh, the sweet tea was great! read more

This closed Freddy's location was bought in May 2025 and is becoming the first Cook Out in Jacksonville and one of the first in Florida by spring 2026. I've eaten there in the Carolinas during trips up Interstate 95 and they are a fast food chain offering a backyard burger style similar to Five Guys and a huge selection of shake flavors including some unusual ones such as banana nut, Orange Push Up, red cherry and walnut. read more
