I would post this on every tropical smoothie cafe..it's not this location in particular. TSC is so deceiving with their smoothie ingredients and clear facts. If your health conscious, this place isn't for you. I'm disgusted to have ordered a smoothie that doesn't state has any added sugar in it. The only ingredients listed anywhere (website, store, app) do not contain anything but pineapple, banana (which I was told was fresh by the employee) and kale/spinach. However, the nutrition facts sheet online states that it has 88g sugar (some natural but mostly added) turbinado (which is not clear on their menu; this is on a separate web page for their nutrition facts that I researched). This is an issue for anyone looking to lower their sugar intake. This is a company wide issue. read more

This is the second time I've come where it took 20+ minutes to make my smoothies. The first time it was 40 minutes. And it was always the same guy. Most of the time they are fast and well. But this guy was not. I was late to work cause he didn't make my smoothies til after I got there (both times) even tho I placed an online order for it to be done asap. I almost ran out of gas in the drive thru cause he was taking so long. Then today when someone came into the store 5 minutes after I was already in the drive thru, he made hers before mine ! Wtf? I am only rating this place 4 stars because of the owner and owner alone! I dont think that their employees even want to work there! All of them! I used to love TSC i would come multiple times per week. Let me tell you what happened today. I decided that I was craving tropical smoothie Café because I read on their app that they have plant-based chicken I decided to give it a try since I have stopped eating meat. So I go to the drive-through and I order my buffalo chicken wrap with vegan chicken a side of kale apple salad and a detox green smoothie. I order a second wrap the same way except I ask if they can add avocado along with that I chose The harvest cheddar chips and a beach bum smoothie. I also order a kids meal with a chicken quesadilla with regular chicken and a chocolate chip smoothie. The person taking my order seemed like she has had better days if you know what I mean, she sounded monotone and was rushing me through my order. When I get to the window I pay my $36 and something cents get my smoothies and then get my food but as I look at both of the wraps neither of them is marked so naturally I have to open them to look inside to see which one had the avocado. I open both of them and notice that they do not look at all like the picture on the app which I will attach to this review along with The actual pictures of what they gave me. I was so upset because there was no lettuce at all in these wraps one of them has bare minimum mount of lettuce and the other one had none! I went inside and asked for the manager, and outcomes this very young boy named Gabriel. He tells me that he has to take the food and throw it away before he can remake them for me the correct way... I don't know about anybody else but I don't believe in wasting food I don't believe in throwing away food. I told him that I could give those to my kids that they wouldn't mind at all but I did want my wraps remade. He said it was their policy so I asked for the general manager he said she's down the road and that she would be right back so I told him to give her a call letting her know that I was going to wait there for her. I didn't get her name in all of the fluster and she tried to reach for the food to grab it I told her I wasn't gonna give it to her and she said the same thing that the boy Gabriel said... So I asked for the regional manager since apparently that is who makes the policies for their store... So the general manager is stating that the regional manager named Jessica has a policy that the food needs to be thrown away I wonder how much food wastage Jessica is making when a lot of other people in the world are wishing they had that food? I was told to email Jessica I did I sent her an email with my phone number and telling her that I need to speak to her. No response as of yet... They said they would be happy to remake my wraps but then I had to handover the food so that they could throw it away I don't understand how this is a logical response. They waste food, they don't make the food right, and to be honest I would be afraid of them remaking my food and spitting in it, because I do see them capable of this. I urge you all to speak up about your food not being made correctly and also about the treatment these people have towards paying customers like myself. It is sad that people that have noThing wrong with their food have ruined it for all other customer who do have something wrong with their food. It's sad that i paid $36 for food that was not made correctly at all. Never again. As a manager of a food business i could NEVER condone food wastage by throwing away something that is not contaminated or inedible, i feel though that if they did care about their food that they would make it right the first time around.... I feel sad for the owner of this business. He called me and is going to make it right but unfortunately i would not feel comfortable going to this location again as the employees there would be very capable of spitting in my food or worse. Today, I went into Tropical Smoothie Cafe on Baseline and Power around 10:45 am. When I got home, my peanut butter banana flatbread did not have any bananas or granola on it. I took it back. An employee named Kelvin took it from me and threw it in the trash without saying a single word to me until he came back with my correct order...he just handed it to me without an apology or even a "thank you". I grabbed the bag and walked to the door to leave. That's when I heard Kelvin shout out "DUECES!" to me with a total attitude like I just inconvenienced his day. I turned around to tell him how rude he was...and from there it went something like this: Me: What is your managers name? I would like to talk to him. Kelvin: It's a she. Me: What's her name? I would like to talk to her. Kelvin: She just left. Me: WHAT IS HER NAME? Kelvin: Ashley Me: And what is your name? He proceeded to point to his name tag without responding to me. I eventually had to ask the other employee for his name because I was too far away to see his name tag. The first time there were no workers inside and they were clearly closed, called the corporate location and they said they would forward the information to the owner of this location and never heard anything. Tonight came through here at 9:45pm (drive thru closes at 10pm on Saturdays) and saw a male worker inside cleaning up. He never came to the microphone to take our order, so we drove around and knocked on the window, honked the horn and clearly he was disinterested in coming to the window. We sat there for a few minutes and he never came to help us. We have come here before and found hair in our food. I think this is the last time we will give this place a chance. read more

I've been here a couple times and have never really loved what I've gotten. Their smoothies are alright (I prefer the ones from Thrive and Jamba Juice). And their food is so so -- smallish portions but at least it leaves you feeling light and less stuffed. When I was still eating meat, I had ordered a chicken wrap once that I didn't finish because it was kinda yucky and on another visit, tried their fish tacos which were actually pretty tasty. Have tried their cookies as well and wasn't impressed. This time around, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they now offer "meatless chicken strips" by Beyond Meat, which I asked them to sub for the roast beef in their Wasabi Caesar sandwich. The meatless chicken, while super flavorful and tasty, was hard and rubbery in texture which was a definite minus but the rest of the sandwich was good. I used to come in here for smoothies from time to time when I was in school nearby. I think they even catered salads and wraps to an event for us once. I stopped in here with friends for a smoothie a couple weeks ago when I was visiting. The inside of the place is pretty colorful and has the same general plastic feel of most fast food chains. My friends live close and come here a lot. They say the main reason is it's cheap and they also get coupons in the mail. They said the service is terrible though. This day was no exception because when I asked about gluten-free they just gave me a shrug and had no interest in helping me figure out if the ingredients were OK. After a lot of probing, I decided the peanut butter smoothie seemed safe. The smoothies only come in one size which makes it difficult for one person to finish and there is a lot of waste. Mine was pretty terrible, it really just tasted like watered down chemically peanut butter. So I didn't drink it. The boys liked their wraps and from what I can remember from when I had previously eaten here years ago, I used to think their salads were pretty good. But I only base my reviews off current experiences. Overall, not sure if there is much reason to eat here, unless it's pretty much just proximity and cheap prices that make it a convenient place to grab something quick. read more

At 3:11 the person behind us in the drive through asked us to pull forward so that she could bail - apparently didn't have 30 minutes to wait for a smoothie - told us that she tried calling into the store and they hung up on her. We pulled forward to clear the lane and went inside to get the sandwiches and the person working was rude - not at ALL apologetic - dropped the food in the bag on the counter and said "here you go." We then asked for the managers contact info and they refused to provide it. Got in the car and realized that they had failed to give us a receipt so we went back in to get it. Absurd. This place couohave so much potential and they really have good smoothies but every time I come here my smoothies are very watered down and flavorless. Also I can see why people don't want to sit inside and eat because they have the AC set to 85!! The drive thru employee in the morning needs serious training in customer service. I've been to this location 4x now and to my luck I get her every time. I've made it a point to make eye contact, acknowledge her, say good morning, made sure to say PLEASE and THANK YOU....not once was it said in return 4x visiting this location. She's short with you on both the speaker and in person at the window, she sounds annoyed and bothered and will slam the window in your face every time. I've never written a review like this before but management needs to address this because even my kids in the backseat questioned why the "lady was so mad." So.. I keep coming to this location because it is close to me and the food / smoothies are good.. HOWEVER .. They are completely UNDER STAFFED! We just spent 20 minutes in the drive thru waiting for our 2 smoothies and flatbreads.. EVERY time we come to this location the employees are running ragged.. The management of this particular location needs to help their people out and get some more help in there. The one on cooper and baseline is always quick and consistent so this location should consider taking a page out of their book.. I've been here a couple times to get their smoothies, all which have been pretty good. Last night, we went to get food and they were out of romaine lettuce, which was disappointing. We ordered the Thai Chicken Bowl and the Baja Chicken Bowl...ended up having to turn the Baja Chicken into a wrap, due to the lettuce shortage. We went through the drive thru and it took a LONG time for our food. When we finally got our food, it was switched. The Thai Chicken was in a wrap and the Baja Chicken was in a bowl with the wrong lettuce. We ended up throwing away the bowl, a waste of money. We did get two Banana Chai Max smoothies, which were good, but a little too sweet--even with Splenda. Overall, the food is expensive and not worth the price. So... Now I understand why the reviews are so low. I went here to pickup a Postmates order. 2 items...a bowl & a smoothie. The bowl was ready. The employees here seem incredibly miserable. The two times I've patronized this place, I went through the drive thru. And the person on the other end was curt and would cut me off whenever I tried to talk. Have not had a problem yet with the consistency of my smoothie either time, but it feels like you're inconveniencing the employee whenever you stop here and ask for something that requires them to stop what they're doing and lift a finger to do their job. read more
