Stopped in this morning after workout with my girlfriend. We ordered two smoothies to dine in with. I went with the beach bum with dark chocolate and she went with the detox Island green with pea protein. It took us a while to figure out our order but the person behind the counter was very patient with us. Thankfully there was no one waiting behind us. After placing our order we took a seat and our smoothies were delivered right to our table. The smoothie is a good size. I appreciate the Hardy straw. I recently got a smoothie at another establishment and they gave me the dreaded paper straw. I know they are better for the environment. But you just can't do a paper straw with any type of thick beverage. LOL. My smoothie absolutely hit the spot. It was a good balance of the strawberries and bananas and a nice hint of the dark chocolate. Definitely not overpowering. My friend's detox Island green smoothie with peat protein was very good too. This location is a little rough when it comes to food. I ordered the Chipotle Chicken Club that comes with crispy bacon and I was given flappy, almost uncooked, turkey bacon. I live close to the TSC in the Princeton Shopping Center (Harrison Street) and typically place my order thru the app. On Monday (8/11), I place an order thru the TSC app and when I went to pick it up, they didn't have my order. Turns out I place it for this location. As soon as I realized my error, I called to cancel. I was told by the woman I spoke with that it would be credited, but would take a few days (likely Wed.) b/c it was an online order. I just checked my credit card and have not received the credit. I just called and had an entirely unhelpful conversation with the woman working there. She said it "takes a few days". I said it has been a few days already and could she please check on it and she said "there's nothing she can do" and that "the manager isn't here@. I asked her to take a message and she said "is that all I can do for you"? (Didn't ask for my name, phone number, order number, amount etc). Complete waste of time. The one thing I will say is that some of the smoothies can be higher in calories than expected--some of them could really be meal-replacement smoothies--so be sure to check the nutrition facts online before you order if that's something you're looking out for. From the flyer I received, the window poster I saw entering the store and the prominent sign inside I expected the Spicy Mongolian Steak Bowl to be what I wanted. Now if they would tell me the price. I ordered he Spicy Mongolian Steak for $6.99.. It was far from a generous portion. The picture shows a tossed salad with 20 pieces of steak sprinkled with sesame seeds and a few noodles. I got a bowl 2/3rds filled with stuck together noodles, 6 small pieces of meat (which I believe arrived at the location cooked, sliced and frozen) and a few vegetables. Nothing tossed. Everything was covered with a sauce both terribly sweet and very spicy and the featured sesame seeds missing. I should have stood at the counter and asked for a dish like the one in the picture. My beverage came -- the paper wrapped straw had been cut in half -- no longer sanitary. I shared the space with a young man and his laptop who appeared to have settled in for the evening with a beverage. This place needs to make some changes or they will not last very long. read more

I went here with my husband for lunch today and the food was good but while we were finishing up a woman came in for a take out order that was pre-ordered. She explains that the wraps weren't made how she asked them to be and that the manager of the store said they would be made. The manager, that knows this customer, was not there at the time and was supposed to leave a note for the order to specify what kind of wrap to make it on. The customer asked if they could be remade the way that it was ordered. I have NEVER seen the level of disrespect to the customer and attitude given in the five minutes following this. The worker said no we don't do that. The customer explained that she comes to the tropical smoothie cafe 4 times a week for this order. Still refused to remake it. The employee picks up her phone and calls the manager while it is ringing she is walking away and cursing under her breath "I don't want to deal with this shit" putting on a little show for the 2 other employees with her. Gets the manager on the phone and puts her on speaker. When the customer says what her name is so the manager can hear the employee says to her "ohh no one is talking to you." Then shortly after the customer starts sticking up for herself and they begin to argue. I said my peace to the employee about the horrible customer service I saw and left. I cannot believe this is how an establishment would treat their patrons. These inflammatory and aggressive employees need to be put into food service training. The entire situation could have easily been avoided and handled much differently. I will never visit this location again. read more

Noodles were stuck together, not sure what the sauce was but it did not work well at all. I love tropical smoothie cafe! It's perfect for something healthy and delicious for lunch. They have a lot of deals for lunch, weekly specials, and seasonal as well. The employee's don't seem too enthusiastic about being there but I get it. This location is in an odd area but close enough to my work where I can swing by. I usually order the island detox green smoothie and a wrap of some sort. Everything is made to order so you can opt out whatever you need to, which is always nice! However, everything at trop smoothie cafe is sweetened! I think its so strange to me. You can specify your sweet preference with splenda, honey, cane sugar, or none. But, you need to say it when you order you are never presented with the option. I think it's kind of a bizarre that they sweeten it, when it is supposed to be a healthy place because honestly they use fresh ingredients, not purees so it really dwindles down the idea of health conscious when some smoothies are 800 cals. Also a waste of money ordering all the extra sugar right? But overall, you can order anything on the menu and it will be made with real ingredients. Everything is delicious and you can customize it. This new place is great! I tried it out this week for lunch instead of going 2 doors down. It has a lot of options not only for smoothies but also sandwiches and wraps (also taste great) if you need a quick bit to eat. Like most places you go to, not all things on the menu can be completely healthy. If you plan to eat healthy, you should order accordingly (don't get the peanut butter banana smoothie if you don't want something so sweet) ;) They do use natural sugar though. I also learned they also can make any smoothie without sugar or with Splenda (if you really prefer that) so if the other reviewer didn't want a sweet smoothie, should've asked for no sugar or other options. Today was the first time I have visited the Princeton location and while my smoothie was great, I was not pleased with the meal I ordered. Overpriced menu of which nothing standing out as particularly good here. I had a $30 Local Flavor certificate which I used to try out several menu items. My total after 3 menu items and a kids combo came out to $28. Once I presented my certificate, the lady at the register had the audacity to re-ring my $5.99 kids combo which included a chicken quesadilla and kids smoothie individually to $4.79 plus $3.99, effectively ripping me off another $2.79. I questioned her why the total was higher and she mentioned something about the certificate having to be rung up differently. I know basic math & have an advanced college degree...this lady was purposely trying to pull a fast one over on me. Rather than argue, I paid the few extra dollars I was charged for having a certificate and instead vowed to swear off this location of Tropical Smoothie Cafe and warn others of the shady business practices. The owners must really be struggling in order to be resorting to nickel and dime tactics with customers. Certificates are meant to drive customers in the door, in hopes to produce repeat business.
