I came here to redeem my free 24 ounce birthday smoothie. I ordered the mango monsoon smoothie with an add-on of pea protein ($1.19 extra). I was the only one in the store at the moment but my smoothie was ready quickly. The pea protein wasn't too overpowering and the smoothie was cold and tasty. I went on a hike at Pocahontas State Park and it was very hot. The smoothie hit the spot and cooled me off. The storefront and seating area is clean but the tables are all sticky. I'll try to avoid coming on Thursday nights.. brought back 2 smoothies because they tasted weird and when the young lady finally came back to the front desk, they remade them and they still taste weird. I'm unsure what's wrong but it smells like raid (bug spray or some weird fermented fruit) never again unless the guy with locs in his hair is there. He makes the absolutely best smoothies!! Oh well. I explained I probably have been at a Tropical Smoothie 3x in my lifetime. The main reason I don't frequent any Tropical Smoothie is because of the one size smoothie. It's too large for it to be my only choice and I end up throwing away half of it every time. The restaurant is clean and family friendly. Very casual restaurant. I ordered: Island Green Smoothie- it has spinach, kale, mango, pineapple, and banana. - very tasty Santa Fe chicken quesadilla - this has grilled chicken, black beans, onions, queso, cheddar cheese, and smoked cheese. - very good! ** Tropical smoothie please think about having different size smoothie options. Went there for the first time and got a sunrise sunset smoothie (24oz) for $5. It looks like a chill place to hang out; there are some tables to eat at. Atmosphere is colorful. During pandemic, they organized the pick ups by which mobile apps used for pick up which is nice but they don't announce names so you have to check for which bag might be yours. The place is okay-good, nothing super special about it though. The smoothie was refreshing on a hot day. It's not too thick where you can't drink it through the straw. I'd start going here more to try the other flavors like the mango ones and to drink healthier instead of spending $5+ for sugary frapps and drinks at Starbucks. read more

I have not personally tried the food/drink at this location, but my daughter loves Tropical Smoothie. We were out of town, so she immediately checked the area for the nearest TSC. Here we are! She loves the three cheese quesadilla and the awesome orange smoothie. This smoothie I believe is on the kid's menu, but she gets a regular size. I am not adding a 5th star just because I haven't tried them. The cafe is located in a strip mall. Other eateries are nearby and shopping is within walking distance. This is a pretty busy area. It is almost like a mall, an open mall on the outside! There is plenty in this area. There is also a seating area outdoors... I will definitely come back to this area, because there is a lot to see! Can you believe I'm a first timer here. OMG what was I thinking!! I had heard so much about the Green smoothie. So I decided it's a beautiful day outside and a detox drink won't hurt. And since it's still within the lunch hour, might as well try a chicken flatbread sandwich. I wasn't aware of the size of the smoothie but the taste was amazing. I had serious concerns over the spinach and kale but it was not bitter. The thickness was rewarding and it made you forget that it's actually a healthy drink. The chicken sandwich was delicious but I didn't read the description of it before ordering. I don't eat pork and bacon was on it. So my lunch buddy had a free upgrade. The meat was juicy and tender and the sauce was tangy. I must say I was impressed. But before I forget, kudos to the cleanliness of restaurant, ample parking at the mall and outdoor seating. What a great healthy alternative to the typical fast food fare! The smoothies are large and priced well. I've been to other places that have smaller smoothies and cost more. Great menu selection too! Bright happy decor and outdoor seating is available. We noticed the tables hadn't been cleaned or bussed which loses a star, but if you clean up your act, I'll edit my rating. If I could give it less than a star, I would. My partner and I came here after they got their wisdom teeth out and waited for almost an HOUR, while they served multiple customers in front of us ignoring us completely (might I mention we were the only not straight people in the establishment). Any time we politely asked an employee about the status they mumbled under their breath, talked about us and laughed. We only got served once a different employee came on shift and could tell his coworkers had intentionally ignored us, somehow was able to make our drinks right away. We called corporate to let them know about the discrimination that took place, and this locations manager literally only gave us two free smoothie cards. Like, I didn't want to have to come back, I'd rather be fully refunded but whatever. So we came back, and they of course made the smoothie wrong, like they always do. We were the only customers. This location and tropical smoothie in general is a waste of money, they never make the smoothies correct the first time or efficiently, and I especially advise against going if you prefer to not be heckled about your relationship. read more

Stopped by Tropical Smoothie Cafe for a grab-and-go smoothie. They're located in a trendy shopping center so parking shouldn't be an issue. Tropical Smoothie Cafe is a chain but it's been years since I checked them out. I spent a day in Richmond so had an opportunity here. I had one of their super food smoothie which is basically an acai bowl in a glass. It's more expensive than your typical smoothie but I guess you pay for the super fruit. The smoothie came out quick and the smoothie bar was clean. They also have food but I've never tried any so can't comment on that! What I can say is that they have a nice selection of smoothies. read more

Their new chia banana smoothie is super good! My friend and I came here for dinner after a hot yoga session next door. The smoothie was pretty tasty and I HIGHLY recommend the peanut butter one! My friend had a berry one, and it seemed pretty tart. I did get to go during lunch today and try out their Cha Cha Sriracha flatbread. I forgot how tasty the sandwiches/flatbread is from Tropical Smoothie! It was pretty saucy and I love the amount of veggies they've included in my flatbread. I also got introduced to their sea salt and vinegar chips - now I'm slightly addicted. haha. The place is pretty clean and the staffs were super friendly. Terrible customer service, they act like they don't see you when you come in, there's been several instances in which we have come in and it's like we are invisible. They have nasty attitudes and seem like they don't want to be here. Like I typically don't care much for people being super friendly and smiling in my face but when you are going out of your way to be rude it's very off-putting. This place is set up for failure due to lack of management, this place is ran by children. Employees eat at the register instead of taking orders. This establishment will let you pay for your order then tell you they are out of flat bread or only have "small" cups and this happens on a consistent basis. I love a good Tropical Smoothie but the service here was subpar, and both my smoothie and food did not come out as great as it usually is at other locations. My mango magic smoothie (a classic) was full of fruit chunks and ice that I could taste! It was not blended well at all. My Sante Fe quesadilla was alright. It could have used more cheese, and I felt like the chicken wasn't completely cooked. I like Tropical Smoothie for a quick bite but with prices on the higher side ($11 for smoothie and a quesadilla) as compared to other chain cafes/fast foods, I expect the quality to be a little better especially when I know it has been before! Leaving one star because I have to leave something. This tropical smoothie is the worst I've ever been too. The staff is RUDE, an employee actually rolled her eyes at me while asking about a drink for my daughter. Not to mention it was the worst smoothie I've ever had from any tropical smoothie. Terrible customer service on 9/4/21 at 12:30-1:00 PM. Cashier and staff showed no concern that customers were waiting more than 30 minutes for their orders, no receipts were given and I was asked if I want my change back from my purchase. Customers were so frustrated on the wait and the lack of communication from the staff they started taking other customers paid orders just to get out of there. My companion asked for their money back due to a long wait and lack of service. Customers were complaining walking out the door. This was only my 2nd time visiting this tropical smoothie, considering I live in Yorktown, VA. My mother and I always stop here after the Bizarre Bazaar event at the Richmond Raceway. I walked in and was greeted by staff members right away, which made me feel at ease during my visit. The cashier was extra nice and super friendly to me while ordering; and my wait time for them to make my smoothie was less than 2 minutes. The cashier even delivered it to me at the nearby table I sat at while I waited. I found that small gesture to be extremely nice and uplifted my mood, surprisingly enough. I'll most definitely be back to visit here again the next time I am in Richmond. I wish those team members would come work at one of the stores near me.
