I never get to this side of town for lunch, so after a small surgical procedure, my mom and I had a girls lunch here. She loves their huge baked potatoes and I love their chicken panini! The staff were very friendly and the food came out very quick. This sandwich just melts in your mouth and has an amazing cheese pull! The pesto isn't overpowering and add just the right flavor. The tomato bisque is some of the best I've ever had. It's crazy. They were a little busy for lunch, especially with the take out orders coming in, but it wasn't overly loud or chaotic. Tuesday 7/30/24 3pm I'm going to start off with saying the customer service was fine. Family friendly. I ordered a 1/2 Club Royale to go. As I waited I noticed the menu with prices. A WHOLE Club Royale is $12 and some change. I paid $12 and some change for my 1/2 of a sandwich. So of course I asked why is the 1/2 the same price as the whole give or take a dollar after taxes). I said for all of that just give me the whole (which I won't eat because all I can eat is half, hence me ordering half). They told me they didn't know why they were the same price (ish). When I get home I call customer service to express my concern on the prices and how I felt they were pretty much stealing from me because if you are using 1/2 the ingredients there's no way you should be charging me full price. No way! Not cool at all Jason's Deli. Anyway, corporate customer service told me "thanks for your feedback, have a nice day and HUNG UP!" What in the world do y'all got going on. You lost a customer 1st on price gauging and 2nd your corporate customer service. You should be ashamed. I never heard of "Jason Deli" until I arrived at RVA. Therefore I had to stop in and give them a try. The location is nice and quiet. The menu is pretty limited to salad and sandwiches and some pasta options. I thought they were a little pricey being as though I only ordered and salad and baked potato which coated me almost $20. (However the baked potato was HUGE and the salad was serve yourself style at the salad bar) Customer service was nice. I had to sit back and think about this rating. What do you compare Jason's to, exactly? It has a mean salad bar which is by all appearances restricted to a single trip, it has soups and sandwiches, all of which have been good but not outstanding. It has free soft serve as a dessert. Then it hit me. This place is to a large extent comparable to Golden Corral. Price for a soup and salad, or a sandwich and salad, are roughly the same as the buffet I mentioned, and the quantity is sufficient at Jason's to be comparable even though it is not officially "all you can eat." Both have a modicum of a dessert option. Jason's edges out the buffet on the salad offerings and also the quality and dependability of the food offerings, but looses out on points for the relative lack of hot food options. Anyway, that is my comparison point. And Jason's gets 3 stars. Jason's food is fine. The chicken pot pie soup could be names chicken and dumplings or country style chicken. Nice chunks of chicken, nondescript anything else, thick chicken gravy. The muffaletta is tasty but somehow dry, despite the oiliness of the meats and the jardiniere. The salad bar has some interesting items on it. I would have liked to have gone back considering it was my main course one trip, but if they allow it they sure aren't encouraging it. The day we were there most recently there was apparently no heat. Not a pleasant leisurely environment when your dining partner is blowing on her hands. Still, we enjoyed what we ate, no complaints but no surprises. Jason's stays on ths list of places to consider if we don't know where we want to eat lunch. Jason's is pretty reliable for a quick lunch. The sandwiches are decent and the service is good. You order at a counter, they give you a number to place on your table and then you pour your own fountain drink. There's a good looking salad bar but I've never tried it. The dining area is a bit crowded. I've never seen them totally full so I feel removing a couple of tables would provide a more comfortable experience. The cold cut type sandwiches don't seem to be high quality meats, probably on par with Subway's sandwich meats. There's free ice cream available by the soft drink area so there's a teat to enjoy when you finish your meal. read more

I tried the Muffaletta Turkey sandwich & I tell you I ordered the whole thing, & I should have gotten the sandwich, but I ordered the whole thing & it is delicious a must try, it's the size of a full deep dish pie & of course it was too much for me to eat, so husband took half of the pie to work the next day& he was so pleased with it. The staff here was so nice, even better thank the food. I ordered the Californian without bacon with extra lettuce. The croissant was pretty fluffy and fresh and all the sandwich was pretty good. The avocado was a little oxidized and I didn't get extra lettuce. I ended up with extra Mayo instead which made the sandwich a little messy. I like the fact there were multiple types of iced tea to make my Arnold Palmer pretty special. I dine in at Jason's deli quite often. If I want a great cold cut sandwich the Club Royale is definitely my go too. Although it is a lot of calories.. every single calorie is worth it lol. Jason's Deli also has really good sweet honey mustard. And I like sauces on pretty everything and honey mustard is different at every restaurant. But with that being said I definitely appreciate JD's. If I'm not eating a club I do switch up and order one of the baked potatoes which are very filling. As soon as we walked in to place our to-go order, there were three ladies in the food-prep area: one masked, one unmasked and one with her mask under her chin. They all froze for a second, then acted as if it didn't happen and the unmasked one walked up to the register and asked, "Can I help you?" No. You absolutely can not. I was very pleasantly surprised that it's more than just basic sandwiches on wax paper. There are specialty and build your own sandwiches, wraps, soups, pasta, salads, an all you can eat salad bar, and desserts. I got a turkey sandwich that had pesto, cheese, and sundries tomatoes, and while it was very salty it was also enormous and tasty. With a side of chips, it's worth the $7-odd price tag. I turned into an excited kid when I realized I could get soft serve for free with my meal! What a fun idea, and boy was it good. Only small gripe is that this location has little parking and the lines inside are enormous at lunchtime. Each time I go the workers have given a great experience. The current manager keeps the place cheerful! The food is always fresh at a great price. I haven't been here for over a year and I totally forgot how delish this place was. Came here for lunch with a coworker. Got sold with their cowboy deli sandwich. I'm so glad that the staff at the cash register guided me to a delish lunch meal when I was suggesting what I wanted (?). He laughed at me and told me that it wasn't what I wanted and told me what each order was. Besides the laughing, he totally convinced me to get the regular, half size, and as a managers specials. I got the managers special and got the half regular cowboy deli, chips, water, and a side of soup. I got the spicy seafood gumbo. Staffs were super friendly and helpful. Food was dank (that means great right?) haha. And you get freakin ice-cream in the end!!!! You could get it without the come, but seriously....why the hell would you?! First, I'm glad they were open and serving. I do miss the salad bar but completely understand why it's down. The seating is very well spaced and marked to keep dine in patrons six feet apart. We did not dine in but ordered to go. Took some time for the order to be complete, considering how empty the place was, but the food was served as ordered and tasted good. I was bothered that will all the signage regarding masks being required, they did not enforce it. I have typically had a good experience when coming to this location. I have to go with the club royale every time. I sometimes add the salad bar because it is so very good. The only complaint I have about this location is the parking, which isn't anything the Deli controls, it is a very popular area and usually have to park at the CVS on the corner. I wish there was a closer one to my house that I didn't have to deal with the traffic and people who cannot park correctly, but once again not the fault of Jason's. The last time I was there a gentleman was cleaning the tables and he was willing to get my to go boxes without even asking him. He offered and he also took our trash at the same time.
