1/2 Club Royale
Deneen S.

Tuesday 7/30/24 3pm I'm going to start off with saying the customer service was fine. Family friendly. I ordered a 1/2 Club Royale to go. As I waited I noticed the menu with prices. A WHOLE Club Royale is $12 and some change. I paid $12 and some change for my 1/2 of a sandwich. So of course I asked why is the 1/2 the same price as the whole give or take a dollar after taxes). I said for all of that just give me the whole (which I won't eat because all I can eat is half, hence me ordering half). They told me they didn't know why they were the same price (ish). When I get home I call customer service to express my concern on the prices and how I felt they were pretty much stealing from me because if you are using 1/2 the ingredients there's no way you should be charging me full price. No way! Not cool at all Jason's Deli. Anyway, corporate customer service told me "thanks for your feedback, have a nice day and HUNG UP!" What in the world do y'all got going on. You lost a customer 1st on price gauging and 2nd your corporate customer service. You should be ashamed. For the record, I called back 3 more times to speak to a customer service manager and couldn't get anyone to answer the phone.

Mixed messages tea. Sweet or Unsweetened?

It's good! I had the spicy Sicilian and it was good. I liked the spicy peppers. My son ate his kids mac n cheese meal. He said it was good. Ice cream machine was out of cones. I saw another customer putting the ice cream in their drink. I'm not sure what I should do. Also, the tea was giving mixed messages.

This is a very nice restaurant. The parking is a little restricted but decent. We mostly get the salad bar. The salad bar is excellent. It is always fresh and looks great. We make a trip here whenever we want a fresh salad!

I never heard of "Jason Deli" until I arrived at RVA. Therefore I had to stop in and give them a try. The location is nice and quiet. The menu is pretty limited to salad and sandwiches and some pasta options. I thought they were a little pricey being as though I only ordered and salad and baked potato which coated me almost $20. (However the baked potato was HUGE and the salad was serve yourself style at the salad bar) Customer service was nice. They helped me maneuver through the menu and questions since it was my first time here. And I loved the taste of the ranch dressing. I just wish salad bar had meat options.

Jason's Deli is a decent spot for a quick lunch. They have an assortment of sandwiches, soups, salads, and hot dishes. Nothing that is going to wow you yet reliable. Everyone has always been friendly, and they are usually pretty quick You order at the counter, and then they bring your order to the table Nice salad bar Bonus free soft serve ice cream Tables are really close together My rating rationale  +1 Service +.5 Food~Taste/flavor/quality +.5 Presentation + 5 Atmosphere/vibe + 1 Value

Jason's is pretty reliable for a quick lunch. The sandwiches are decent and the service is good. You order at a counter, they give you a number to place on your table and then you pour your own fountain drink. There's a good looking salad bar but I've never tried it. The dining area is a bit crowded. I've never seen them totally full so I feel removing a couple of tables would provide a more comfortable experience. The cold cut type sandwiches don't seem to be high quality meats, probably on par with Subway's sandwich meats. There's free ice cream available by the soft drink area so there's a teat to enjoy when you finish your meal.

My $17 grilled cheese combo
Jeff F.

People are nice but the food and the pricing are horrendous. I ordered a grilled cheese with tomato combo (soup sandwich and drink) the grilled cheese was a joke, 1 slice of cheese on charred bread and no tomato... when asked about the tomato she said she can put one on the side for me. Also why cut your sandwiches into quarters? Am I 3yrs old? Weird.... Soup was average and taste like any generic soup served in cafeterias. I would think for almost $18 they'd try to dress it up a lil bit but no. You got me this time Jason!! But sorry I won't be back again.

Chicken salad? WTF?
Melissa C.

WTF actually is this? I ordered a chicken salad sandwich. This is the most vile thing that has ever been delivered to me. It is SO dry. WAYYYYYY to many nuts. Wayyyy to much pineapple. It's crumbly chicken salad. The bread was over toasted and burnt. I'm not sad I didn't get a whole sandwich because I am absolutely not eating this anyway. Worst part is it was Uber eats, and I can't even complain. How did whoever packed this, look at this and think.... "Hmmm that looks like something someone would enjoy eating." Vile. Never again.

Beefeater and chicken Alfredo
Nicole B.

visited this location several times and it's usually a pretty good location. me and my daughter love the salad bar, pretty good selection. my daughter loves the chicken Alfredo, you can't go wrong with the nachos and the beefeater is perfect for a cold day. a bonus for kids is always the free ice cream. the options are pretty health, the portions are decent and its an affordable meal for a family.

Pastrami and Swiss on rye
Farrah B.

The staff here was so nice, even better thank the food. I ordered the Californian without bacon with extra lettuce. The croissant was pretty fluffy and fresh and all the sandwich was pretty good. The avocado was a little oxidized and I didn't get extra lettuce. I ended up with extra Mayo instead which made the sandwich a little messy. I like the fact there were multiple types of iced tea to make my Arnold Palmer pretty special. The chips come on the plate so if you think you're going to take them home for later you are sadly mistaken. My mom loved her pastrami and Swiss so it was a win!

The inside of the store was old school setup with booths and a huge full service bar. 15 minutes within opening, the restaurant was full in capacity. The menu had lots of exciting brunch dishes, appetizers, salads, soups and deli section as well. There were plenty of cocktails, beer and wines choices available too. Prices were decent. I picked the Jewish Sailor that was a combo of toast with pastrami and beef sausage with red onion and mustard. When the dish came, it looked so scrumptious. Loved the flavor of the pastrami, the crunchy sausages, crispy toast bread, coleslaw all of it. I also got to try the pierogis that were delicious as well. The service was good overall. Our waitress was attentive, while managing several tables at the same time. The dishes came out quickly despite being busy. Overall the experience lived up to the expectations.

Kids chicken strips were a chicken patty that was overcooked and cut up. Also came out lukewarm at best. The Rueben was soggy and had about three slices of meat on it. Very little sauce on the sandwich no and was charged for extra when I asked for more. Added the Parmesan truffle fries which were powered Parmesan with some truffle oil sprinkled on top. Again all lukewarm. The Timberwolf burger had maybe two jalapeño's on it and the onions were burnt. The regular burgers and kids are the same size. Housemade pickles were soggy and the cucumber skins were tough. The quality of food from when we had eaten here a couple years ago was subpar in comparison. If you are going to charge for upscale items then they need to be upscale in the quality of what you are serving. Will not be back.

We went to this place for the first time tonight and OMG‼…read more RUN....do not walk to the New York Deli!!! It's right next to the Byrd Theater so it was perfect for dinner after a movie. Our server was Braxton, a delightful young lady. She was witty and a diligent server and all the things...and she did not steer us wrong when it came to the food. My husband and I both had a taste for ordering an Italian sub and Braxton said we would not be sorry if we ordered it, and we were not. I was literally moaning with almost every bite. I am a potato salad connoisseur. I will not eat it unless it is freshly made. I don't do any of the grocery store type of potato salads. (Gross!) I asked Braxton about it and she said that in general, she doesn't even like potato salad, but at this restaurant, she absolutely loves it and highly recommends it. Knowing it is freshly made on site, plus her recommendation, I decided to try it. Oh my word! This potato salad is straight from the portals of heaven. Sooooooo good. This might not seem like a big deal, but it's a very big deal to me. I like freshly brewed tea. Nothing bottled. Nothing out of a soda machine. (Disgusting!) I asked Braxton if the tea was actually brewed there and she said yes. Tea is not the same everywhere. Sometimes it's so weak, you don't even realize it's tea. Not here! It was perfect. This makes a huge difference to me as when my beverage is perfect, I enjoy my meal a lot more. The entire meal was top notch. The service was absolutely excellent. We loved having Braxton and would ask for her again. A DJ was setting up as we were eating. We learned that they have karaoke and trivia nights earlier in the week as well as dance nights on the weekends. My husband and I mentioned that we would definitely come back and bring friends. While we all ordered one after the other, our food didn't come out that way. Most of the food came out in about 25-30 minutes. The chicken was cooked perfectly. Juicy! Two people got tenders and three of us got sandwiches. The OG sandwich was very good, just messy! I ended up using a fork and knife bc it got too messy. The Mac and cheese was made with pimento cheese and was very good. My friend who got the fried green tomatoes said they were delicious and filling. Lots of goodies on top. Two friends enjoyed the collards. The only person who was underwhelmed was the person who got the Asian sandwich. We walked in to find the staff bustling, cooking, and prepping orders, and the smell of some delicious fried chicken in the air. I saw the kiosks and was not too thrilled with the Wawa experience, but we gave it a shot anyway, since fried chicken is one of our favorites. The process was simple and allowed us to add or remove anything we could want, so that was nice. While walking to find a seat, we saw a person panhandling in the dining area, but the staff promptly removed him from the premises. I ordered us the Pimento Cheese Balls for an appetizer, and I chose the Fried Chicken and French Toast as my entree because I always try the "chicken and waffles" at every establishment that offers it. My partner ordered the OG Chicken Sandwich without tomato, and it came with crinkle-cut fries. It was about $40. The chef proclaimed our order was ready in quick succession, maybe three orders behind the guests before us. We waited about ten minutes, maybe fifteen at most. We picked up the orders from the counter, and there was a mix-up on the syrup, but the chef promptly rectified the situation. He was a no-nonsense kind of guy; straight to the point. He seemed firm, yet kind. It was clear the day had been a busy one; he even told us as much, which was great to hear (busy = fantastic food). The French toast squares looked like rye or pumpernickel, and they emitted a sweet aroma, a delightful hit of cinnamon and brown sugar. I drizzled the caramel syrup on my chicken and toast, sliced a piece, and paired a bite of chicken with the toast. I closed my eyes to savor the flavors: the toast was crunchy and almost gooey (yet, not overly so), the chicken was crunchy, the sweet cinnamon-y flavors from the toast, the caramel from the syrup, and the tender, moist chicken were a match made in culinary art. I cannot sufficiently describe the French toast in a way that would do it justice; it was crunchy and semi-gooey, and all scrumptious. I can only say it was the single best French toast that I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Next, I tried the fried pimento cheese balls. Oh my. If you like mozzarella sticks, try these. I adored them: elevated fried cheese, for real. My partner enjoyed her sandwich as well; she ate everything except some of her fries. I saved half of my chicken and toast for today because I am like a treasure golem when it comes to delicious leftovers. I am going to air-fry the chicken and skillet-heat the toast back to its original goodness. I told the cooks that that was the best French toast that I have ever had, and I mean it. Do yourself a favor and try it if you're into French toast. This one is the GOAT. Side note: I spoke with the head chef outside, and he is from another branch (possibly Henrico?) to whip this location back into shape. Two words: "Nailed it."
