It's been awhile since I've visited, but the weather hitting a toasty 95 degrees, all I could think is, this is smoothie weather! Wobbly table aside, it was an okay experience. We found ourselves with more than enough options on the menu and a few seasonal summer mocktails. After ordering at the counter, they packed our meal to go. As we were eating there, we politely unpacked them. The team working was quiet, but nice. Per usual, I ordered an açaí bowl, which wasn't bad. I'd likely order it again! The watermelon mojito mocktail on the other hand may not be for me. It was a bit less flavorful when it first arrived (a bit icy). Once melted a bit, it felt a little too sweet for me personally. All smoothies (apart from the kiddo sizes) are one size, a pretty substantial size which does push them into the $8ish price range. Next time I'll keep the acai bowl and try a more traditional smoothie. read more

Açaí bowls here are a must! You can definitely taste all the fruits in the açaí base. You get generous toppings as well. It's a bit hard to get into sometimes as it is quite frozen, but we enjoy it every time and are always satisfied. Seating inside is comfortable enough for a lunch or breakfast spot. I had tickets to a concert at Cynthia Woods so I stopped by Tropical Smoothie Cafe to do some work before the concert. This location is in a trendy shopping center so parking shouldn't be a problem. I'm a big fan of Tropical Smoothie Cafe for a couple of reasons. First, they have food that goes beyond just acai bowls and snacks. They have a nice selection of flatbreads, wraps, and sandwiches. I tried their chicken caprese sandwich which comes with tomatoes, cheese, chicken, and a pesto sauce. It's served with your choice of fruit or chips. I went with a banana. Overall, the sandwich was alright while the banana wasn't good. The food is average but I do love their drinks. Unlike other smoothie spots, there's only one size of smoothie available here but it's big and great value for the price. They have a lot of appealing options including superfood smoothies and veggie-based ones. I've never had a smoothie I didn't like here! So I got the avocadolada ( I think I spelled that right) and the baja chicken wrap. Let me also add that when they take your order they get your name to call out when your meal is ready. So why when they called my "very unique name" a Hispanic woman runs up and grabs my order? After repeating our order several times it still somehow managed to come out wrong. We had to send it back to receive the correct sandwich. I decided to order the Smokey Grilled Cheese. When I received my grilled cheese it was cold and I visibly saw the chunks of unmelted mozzarella and shredded cheese. The melting temp of mozzarella is 130 degrees. It was pretty upsetting to think that the food that was served to my family wasn't even heated up to 130 degrees- this probably breaks health code.
