A few years ago I left a review for Tropical Smoothie Cafe. I gave it 3 stars. Looking back, that is simply laughable. How ignorant I was at the time. I have been back on many occasions. I can say with confidence that Tropical Smoothie Cafe is well worth of a 5 star rating. There's a very good reason I come to this place nearly every time I'm in Vero. This update is long overdue. There are two main factors that prompt this rating change. First, I learned you can basically order any smoothie on the menu with "No Turbinado or Added Sugar" to make it relatively healthy and so that you aren't a jittery cracked out mess after your smoothie. "No Turbinado or Added Sugar" are the magic words at Tropical Smoothie Cafe. Unless you're some freak who puts cream and sugar in their coffee or orders Sweetened Tea, then you will want to remember the magic words of "No Turbinado or Added Sugar" during your visit. Look your smoothie guide straight in the eye, and politely say "No Turbinado or Added Sugar". Your smoothie will arrive with that perfect level of mild natural sweetness, and you will feel great after consumption. Since doing this, I have NEVER had a bad experience here. The remarkable consistency is worth 5 stars in itself. The same can't be said for most other smoothie places that use fruit blends and come absolutely loaded with sugar even if you ask for none (looking at you Smoothie King). Second, Tropical Smoothie Cafe no longer plays lame music. I remember during some of my early visits, the establishment would play washed out pop punk music that made me cringe. Those times are gone. While the location does not have the exceptional music tastes of say a good health food store or a killer DJ, it has gotten tolerable. Could their aesthetics be better? Sure. But I'm not here for the music. I'm here for the smoothies without and turbinado or added sugar. As long is the music isn't actively pissing me off (and it no longer is), then we're okay here. Third, this menu is crazy customizable. You might have the fear "Oh, I want a smoothie, but I don't think it has enough protein!" Wrong, idiot. You can ask your smoothie guide to add a protein supplement to your smoothie. And not only that, you can choose from three different kinds - whey, soy and pea. You can select the protein variety that most effectively complements your mildly sweet smoothie creation. Because if you aren't a sugar addict, you have remembered the magical words at Tropical Smoothie Cafe. Now you're keeping your body healthy, avoiding excess sugar and complementing your work out with some added protein. There are other supplements available at Tropical Smoothie Cafe, but I don't know what they are because I'm a man, and I only need some protein added to my smoothie. All added supplements are only $1, so you really have no excuse. You're still getting a hell of a deal here. Which brings me to my next point. Fourth. This place is a good value. For my smoothie with No Turbinado or Added Sugar, add X protein, I pay like $6.50 or something. Compare that with your pretentious juice bar at wants you to pay like $8 for a small cup of juice. At Tropical Smoothie Cafe, I get a healthy smoothie that leaves me feeling great for a good price. This is practically a meal replacement too. The smoothies are the perfect size. Not too big, not too small. And the place is not pretentious in the slightest. The smoothie guides are always friendly. Sometimes service can get a bit slow when they're busy, but you see that the smoothie guides are doing the best they can and will serve you as soon as they can. The same cannot be said for the waitresses at Cap's Pizza, but that's a different review. One final caveat. Don't bother with the food at Tropical Smoothie Cafe. Actually, I've never had it. I've only bothered with smoothies. But the food just screams gimmick to me. You come here for the smoothies. Go to that Greek place next door if you want to eat something solid. But I'm here to rate the smoothies. And those are great (as long as you order them with no turbinado or added sugar). Anyway, I'm getting bored, so I'm gonna wrap this up. Tropical Smoothie Cafe is well deserving of a 5 star rating. It meets all the criteria of a great establishment. A great product, a good price, good service, offering something that nobody else around here really offers. I applaud Tropical Smoothie Cafe. Thank you for reading. Do not EVER go here. Parents ordered me a turkey bacon ranch sandwich and jetty punch smoothie. Workers COMPLETELY messed up my order, put no lettuce or RANCH on a turkey bacon RANCH sandwich, and don't even think it was toasted how it's supposed to be. On top of that, the jetty punch was absolutely DISGUSTING, tasted ONLY like ice and unripe strawberries. Called the place, sent to voicemail, then went back to get a refund and the workers COULDN'T give me a refund. There was no manager on duty, so the workers didn't know how to give me a refund, and even said "they couldn't because the order was completed in the kitchen." WHAT?!?! Couldn't give me cash either, and the manager wouldn't respond to the workers' calls. Absolutely unacceptable to have no manager working on the weekends, leaving the workers to run the whole business themselves. Then they said I had to COME BACK to get a refund when the manager was working!!!!!!! Will NEVER go here again, so absolutely disappointed in Tropical Smoothie. I love this chain decent food and great smoothies been to most in Indian river and brevard. This one tho was filthy. Food and trash all over the floor behind the counter and the dining area. There was one server scheduled for the lunchtime rush. When I ordered my food, she scowled at me and announced I'd have to wait 5-10 minutes. It took 42 minutes from walking in the door to leave. First off, I wanna say I love Tropical Smoothie... but this location's employees and manager are a nightmare. I want this place to be a well oiled machine like Starbucks, but maybe Tropical Smoothie doesn't offer their employees all the benefits that Starbucks does? If the employees are trying to demonstrate how much a person can not care about their job...They are doing a fantastic job. The manager there cares a lot... So much, that she messes up everything trying to fix everything. It's frustrating and often she is the only person working there. She might be a bit enabling of a manager to her staff because she is so nice... But if I were in her shoes, it would be very hard not to want to light an actual fire and put it underneath her workers asses. I started ordering on the app because I can't stand waiting forever in this frustrating environment. I just want to jump behind the counter and help... it is uncomfortable how much none of them communicate, very slow, and genuine lack of care. I don't need to be greeted by a weird Christian teenager that says 'my pleasure' like Chick-fil-A, but at least some acknowledgment that the customer exists? This location would do a lot better if it was a drive tru... That way, we don't have to see the disdain for their job on their face... or better yet, maybe offer some competitive wages or incentives so they actually like their job? This is the worst Tropical Smoothie I have ever been to in the entire state of Florida. The staff is disrespectful and the owner is a Liar. They took my coupons for a free smoothie and supplement and because the clueless staff member cleared my coupon and then made me pay after their system clearly removed the coupons from my online account. The owner then llied to me saying it will show on my account the next day. I called corporate and was told that she lied and that the Vero Beach Location get the most complaints in the State and this has happened several times at that location. I was unhappy with the quality of my bowl and called the number on my receipt. I was pleasantly surprised to speak to the owner and he noted my complaint and invited me back with a replacement and a refund. The following day I went to the other location on US 1 and the owner was there and gave me a complimentary smoothie. During this pandemic it has been very difficult to keep workers ....I commend him for physically being there to assist! I go to Tropical Smoothie Cafe to get a half way decent healthy meal which is all too important right now with COVID. Unfortunately the place recently has looked dirty, employees are tucking the masks under their chin when taking orders and making smoothies. Cashier took my order, mask tucked under her chin, touched my money then proceeded to make my smoothie without putting her mask over her face, without putting gloves on, SERIOUSLY??!! But then you have to lead by example, even the manager walks around with a chin tucked mask. Isn't there an executive order for food service workers to wear a mask in Vero? This is a cute spot and a great place! The best part is they have Beyond Meat Vegan Chicken! I ordered the Hummus Veggie Wrap and I decided to add Beyond Meat in there! This was by far one of the BEST wraps I have ever had! I would highly recommend anyone who is vegan or vegetarian to come to this place. My wrap was complimented by a Detox Island Green Smoothie with some Açaí! The staff is awesome and they are very friendly and helpful. Three different times I have ordered and EVERY TIME has been wrong one way or another. First two times I paid for edible straws and didn't get any. I called and was told there was nothing they could do and hung up on me. Today I went into the store and placed two combo orders, one changed from non combo to combo. The guy that took my order is not friendly or speak loud enough for you to hear him. He messed up my order and didn't even put in my smoothie. A combo is cheaper than ordering separately. They made me pay separately for my smoothie saying they would give a discount but I still ended up paying more than what I would have had he done his job correctly the first time. $26.41 paid in total for two "combos" is ridiculous. read more

I am a fan of tropical smoothie, but this location needs some major work! Every time I order something is missing. Today I ordered a $75 order on Uber eats and more than $40 of the order was missing, including all 3 smoothies and a sandwich. The salad dressing was missing as well and the food that was delivered was far below par. My kids were very disappointed and so were their parents. I love tropical smoothie but this location leaves a lot to be desired. For starters, it is in an inconvenient shopping area with minimal parking and no drive thru. This is my second time to this location: the first time I came, the young lady on register was obviously having a hard time getting orders in quickly, and the girl making smoothies was working faster than the girl on register. There was an issue with someone's order being rung up which caused a standstill on the line. On my second time here (today) it took a solid 3-4 minutes before any of the staff addressed my husband and me. When we were finally asked how could we be helped, the girl was far from friendly and made no eye contact. Staff in the kitchen could be seen standing around in the back. This is the 3rd time I have been to the location off US1 in Vero Beach in the last 8 months since the previous owner nothing has ever been right nothing taste the same they're always add of kale Apple's law would use on several of their items one time I was even told they didn't have any they just didn't put any on the sandwich. I am not allowed to have turban Oddo which is in their smoothies unless you ask otherwise and I always gets Glenda as a substitute today they put turban Oddo in my smoothing and now I am sick and ready to pass out. And they don't even have a human to answer the phone they have a voicemail... It's no wonder the place is always empty now and nobody goes there anymore and none of the old girls work there anymore because it gone so far down hill... I have been to this tropical smoothie several times and there's ALWAYS a problem. I like the smoothies at tropical so I will try to go anywhere but this location. Their customer service is so bad. They will accidentally put your drinks in the mobile order spot and make you sit there for 20 + minutes while your smoothie sits out and gets all liquidity. You will try to get a workers attention for 5 minutes and they will literally ignore you. I never leave bad reviews but I'm warning you, their service sucks. read more
