I recently hired Trosa Moving to move me from Durham to Gainesville, Florida, and I had such a great experience. While we had a bit of initial confusion about whether or not it would be possible to do my move on the needed dates, they jumped through some hoops and made it happen. It was a fairly small out of state move, which I know made the whole thing more complex, yet they really worked hard and came through. One thing that impressed me about my communication with them was that the interstate coordinator kept in touch with me as needed and let me know as things changed. He proactively called or emailed me a couple of times to share information or check something out, rather than my needing to track him down, and that is a huge plus for me. The guys who came out to pack me up were equally notable for their professionalism and hard work. I couldn't have been more pleased. The group leader was friendly, business-like, and knowledgeable. He knew just how to tackle the various items needing attention as they got packed and moved onto the truck, never seeming ruffled or unsure. The guys who prepared and loaded my things were some of the hardest workers I've ever seen. What really impressed me was their attention to detail. I heard one gentleman mention to another that a box he was handing off was marked "extra-fragile" even though it hadn't been pointed out to him at all. The way they protected my furniture couldn't have been better. They had the truck ready to go in about three hours from start to finish. I truly couldn't have asked for the guys to be any more careful or work any harder. The guys who unloaded the truck two days later were just as wonderful. They unloaded all of my things up three flights of stairs on a hot Florida day in just a few hours. They got everything back together, and I never heard the first complaint. Again, they were professional, friendly, and some of the strongest folks I've ever met! They took excellent care of my things, and they did so moving as quickly as possible. The price was quite reasonable, for which I'm very grateful as I changed jobs and move to a new city. I very much appreciate everything the crews did to get me moved. Trosa helped me move from Carrboro to Durham - a fully furnished one-bedroom set-up - in two hours start to finish. They were careful with my things, and communicated with me throughout to make sure everyone knew where everything was and where it was going in the new place. I agree with the other reviewers that it was an exceptionally hard-working group. Also, as I was getting things arranged a few hours later, I realized we had accidentally left an item on the truck. I called them, and they were back to my house in less than an hour to deliver it. Very nice people, and great at their jobs. I can't recommend them more highly! Also, when I first came across Trosa, I was just looking for moving company - I had no idea that they are so much more than that, playing such a vital role in substance abuse recovery in our community. After hearing how great they were I am totally disappointed. They first changed the time of their arrival from AM to PM ok not too bad but then they take up our time to be doing a so called estimate and then call us up the next day and say sorry we can do it on the day you need to move. What the heck kind of service is this? Tell us before hand we called you weeks ago and told you our date back then I think maybe they got to big and have lost the things that made them. I'm sorry it took me so long to write a review for this stellar team. We moved in September 2012 and it was one of the best, most uneventful experiences I have had with a company. My team came 15 minutes early. They were four men, polite, punctual, respectful of my furniture and boxes. They asked nothing of me, but in the heat, I took beverage requests and sent my husband out to fulfill them. The group put all of the furniture in its place, assembled the day bed with my husband, and worked within the pre-determined timeline. When the team went 30 minutes over, the lead guy told me he wouldn't charge me for that. I couldn't believe it. We moved a small two-bed two-bath townhouse into a single family home less than 2 miles apart. We were done in less than four hours and it cost me only $300 or so. This was a remarkable experience and a great organization everyone should take advantage of. I cannot recommend them more highly!!! read more

I moved from Raleigh to Chicago - with 2 bedrooms+ of stuff --- and this company was amazing! After a nightmare move down to Raleigh, I decided to look on Angie's list for a recommended mover. This company was amazing. They showed up on short notice to take an inventory and give a quote (a QUOTE --- NOT an ESTIMATE --- which is how the other company burned me by failing to include half my stuff, then doubling the fee once it was all loaded!). They showed up exactly when they said they would. Everyone was incredibly courteous, and polite - not just to me --- but to EACH OTHER -- no bad language, and sooo hardworking and careful with my things. No easy task, since I moved from a 2nd floor in NC to a 3rd floor walk-up (ie: back wooden spiral stairs) in Chicago. Life got busy, and I meant to write this review 2 years ago --- but better late than never! I am moving again, and only wish they worked out of chicago. Trosa did a wonderful job. We hired them to pack a rental truck for us to drive ourselves in a cross country move. They arrived right on time and with one more mover than they had additionally promised (for whom we were NOT charged extra). They completed our move in under the two hours that they had estimated. They worked hard and fast and were very careful with our furniture and in using the space in our (slightly too small) truck. Everything arrived at our destination in perfect shape. The movers were friendly, nice, and good-natured about helping us to disassemble and pack up those last few items that really should have been taken care of before they even arrived - overall one of the least stressful moves I have ever been involved in. read more

I am suprised TROSA moving hasn't been reviewed yet. I had a great experience. I recently had a major move and called TROSA to help with about 9000 lbs of stuff. We got four giant guys, two of whom played college football, led by a senior manager/driver. They were very good natured and knocked out a huge job without a single ding or scratch. They were exceedingly polite and seemed to genuinly want to be helpful, seeking out opportunities to get things just right. This was my first paid move, so the price didn't feel super-cheap to me, but for what we got and the fact that we had no problems at all, I have to say it was fair. Give them a try; they do good work, and tell good stories. read more

I recently used TROSA for an in-town move and couldn't be more pleased. I was very nervous about using them at first because the cost was several hundred less than other movers. I thought we'd end up with inexperienced movers, broken items, and a hassle. I am happy to say I was very wrong! Firstly, this was my first move with "real furniture" and movers. Secondly, we moved into an apartment literally half the size of the original, so I was extremely nervous about all the furniture and boxes even fitting. Since they only do the morning and afternoon slot, I took an afternoon and they noted that I was looking for a late morning move. A day or two before my move, I received a call that they had a cancellation and I got the earlier time! The crew arrived about 15 minutes early, which was great since we had time for a walk through and to do paperwork in time for loading at 10:30. We had a 4 man crew and they were extremely efficient and courteous - they even helped us arrange the furniture to save space! The whole process took about 1.5 hours (only moved 10 minutes away) and this included breaking down and re-assembling a queen bedroom set, sectional couch, kitchen table, about 40 boxes/bins, and other pressed wood furniture (bookshelf, desk, entertainment stand, etc.). All the furniture is intact and assembled properly. Besides a few scuffs on the walls and some chips on the pressed wood furniture, nothing was damaged. I honestly feel a bit spoiled for future moves because this one went so smoothly! I know these reviews can be hit or miss depending on the crew, the customer, and other circumstances, but I would absolutely use TROSA again not only because they were great movers, but it is a great organization to support. read more

I've used Trosa Moving three different times. They do a good job. I think they broke a lamp once, but they paid to have it replaced. It wasn't a nice lamp so I was not bothered by this. It was easy to schedule and they arrived the day of each move early. They were not the cheapest mover I could find, but you have to consider the fact that you're helping people who live in the Triangle to help get their life back together. If you don't know the story behind Trosa, take the time to look them up. They do great things for this whole area. For that reason alone, I would use them again, but the fact that they are just as professional, if not more, than a typical moving company is all the more reason to give them a call. read more

Great experience with TROSA movers. We hired them to move a 2bedroom apartment from Chapel Hill to our new home in Durham. We had packed up and moved a lot of the little items, so the guys were moving mainly furniture and several boxes. Our estimate included 4 hours of labor, with 4 movers, and most communication with them was easy and clear, although we had to change the moving date as it wasn't fully confirmed with the scheduler - so make sure you get full confirmation before you assume! It was pouring rain the day of the move, but the guys showed up 15 minutes early, loaded the truck, drove to Durham and unloaded the truck within 2 hours. They only charge you for the amount of labor time used - saving us a few hundred bucks! The movers were very nice, professional, and friendly and very worried about cleaning their shoes off in both the old place and the new place - they wiped down the floors and furniture to get the rain/dirt off. Would use again and have highly recommended to other people. read more

I've used TROSA twice for local moves, and I was very pleased with their service both times. Their prices were reasonable, and the estimates were very close to the final charge - there were no surprises or unexpected "hidden" charges. These folks are professionals and well worth hiring. They can move a pile of 4 or 5 boxes up a flight of stairs in a fraction of the time it would take me to move one box. Moved this past weekend. It was great. Everyone was helpful and professional from the time I made my first phone call to the guys coming out to do my estimate to the move itself. The move itself, though, was something to see, let me tell you - these guys were like superhuman or something. I just sat there speechless, watching them pick my stuff up and walk it to and from the truck with ease. They carefully wrapped my furniture, disassembled/reassembled things when necessary. They hustled and finished up under time, which meant my moving cost came in under the estimate. I felt like Dustin really showed some great leadership and he and his crew were awesome. read more

The guys did show up on time and they were polite. During the move out, I asked that a specific area of items not be packed -- and they were packed anyway. I needed those things during the period from moving out to moving into a new residence. During the moving in, there were dirty hand prints going up the stairwell (it is a new house), and 2 dings on the wall. The guy leading the group said not to worry about it, he apologized for it, and said that he would let his office know about the damage and it would be repaired. He must have forgotten. I finally called the office, sent pics of the damage (minor, just unsightly in a new home). The office people had to involve the supervisors, asked us to get estimates, etc. Easier to do wall patching and painting ourselves -- and we did. So much for good customer service. Best move I ever had! Jordan and his crew were great. They were polite and kind. They treated my things like their own. The extra efforts they took to prevent damage to my things and my new home were excellent. They worked hard non stop. They cheered each other on and when they got my king headboard into the tight squeeze hallway to my master with no bumps we all cheered. I would recommend them to everyone. Trosa was absolutely fantastic. They quoted my move from a 3 bedroom, 3 floor townhouse at four hours, and were able to complete it in only two hours! The company was extremely professional about getting back to me in a timely manner, and made sure I understood all of the fees associated with the move before I committed. We had four guys moving us with one truck, and they were awesome! They were extremely hard-working, and were fantastic at getting everything up our very steep driveway. Moving is an unpleasant task, no matter how you cut it. But Trosa takes some of the sting out of it. They are among the best, if not THE best movers I've worked with over many years, especially for local moves. The three Trosa men (Robert, Ben and Xavier) worked well as a team. They hustled the whole time while still taking great care with the furnishing. I had an engagement at 6:30 and they did their very best to get the move done in 3 hours. In addition, Gloria from their staff called me the day before to confirm the move and Phil called an hour before they arrived to alert me on timing... just as they promised to do. The price was quite fair for the effort involved and I really like working with an organization that helps men and women get their lives back on track. I've used Trosa for two moves now, one in-town, one out-of-town, and both went incredibly smoothly. Everyone that I came in contact with was friendly and helpful. They were able to schedule my move on the day I requested and on fairly short notice. And their price was several hundred dollars less than my next lowest quote! I hired TROSA to pack a UHaul for a long distance move, and was told when unloading that whoever packed up my truck must have been extraordinarily experienced. I wish I had gotten the guys to write down their names so I could give them each a shout out, but they did an incredible job. They worked hard and got the job done faster than I could believe. They moved 2 third floor apartments into 1 house in about 2.5 hours. They even wrapped furniture, put everything in the proper rooms, then set up and unwrapped the furniture. We used Trosa for a local residential move and they were great. They don't show up on time; they show up early. They work quickly, are professional and courteous, and simply get the job done. There was no idle time while we were on the clock, which ultimately saved us money. We did have several furniture scratches -- relatively "normal" moving stuff -- but Trosa sent someone out to the house post-move to do professional touch-up/repair work at no additional charge. We got three estimates for our move (I recommend getting at least two before picking someone) and felt Trosa's was the most honest and accurate by a clear margin -- I don't know how it would have turned out with the other two companies, but that instinct proved true with Trosa. It's also a noble business that's part of an innovative substance abuse recovery program. I would definitely hire them again. read more

I had always heard wonderful things about TROSA's moving company and decided to hire them for our move. My experience has been awful! It started out with the estimate being unclear and it took a while to clear that up before the movers started working. I have to say that Most of the crew was very nice and courteous but the crew leader seemed to have an attitude from the very beginning. We are now left with dents in our walls that have to be fixed and our outside lawn equipment was left. TROSA has agreed to fix the walls but this will cost us another trip in order to get this taken care of. After leaving our lawn equipment, they now want to charge us another 100.00 to bring it to our new location. During the walk through I had to point out several things that they had not packed, pictures on the wall, kitchen items, boxes in the garages just to name a few. I guess quitting time was 5:00 because they were in a big rush to leave. They are now saying this is my fault because I was not present most of the day; this is far from the truth! I did leave for 1 hour but my father in law was there. I even told them if they had any questions to refer to him. It's one thing if a company does not do a good job but to lie about the customer when confronted, that is inexcusable to say the least. read more

We hired TROSA movers to load our moving truck for a cross-country move. While the team was nice and appeared to do a good job, when we unloaded the truck we found that the parts of the truck that were loaded without our supervision were horrible. They failed to use our moving blankets or packing paper to protect our items. Almost every piece of furniture we own was damaged during the loading of the trailer. Unfortunately, filing a claim with them has proved almost as traumatic as the move. When we filed a claim with them, we were misled as to how to file a claim. And, ultimately our claim was denied, because even though they put book boxes on top of our china marked "fragile" and failed to even pack some of our items in boxes, they are claiming the damage occurred during transit. The folks at TROSA may be pleasant to talk to, but their insurance company is rude and aggressive. And, ultimately, TROSA failed to do the job they were hired to do and refuses to take responsibility. I have never written a negative review before, but since we relied so heavily on these reviews when we picked TROSA, I feel obligated to share our unfortunate experience. I hope it is the exception, because it is difficult enough to move, let alone have the majority of your furniture and household goods damaged. read more
