Trotters is an old-school cash-only tavern that is as friendly as it is unpretentious. In addition to an excellent selection of beers on-tap, they also serve outstanding bar food. The burgers are large, juicy, and well seasoned. I especially like the Montreal Swiss burger with caramelized onions atop the melted Swiss. The onion rings, however, are a real showstopper: large rings of sweet onions encased a perfect beer batter that is crispy and nicely seasoned. Great service and fun crowd. read more

As sad as the characters are in this place...coupled with the fact that they are still in the 1950s in a cash-only policy, they are definitely the best Buffalo wings in this 15 mile radius (along w Bentley's). Walked into the bar around 1am and was kicked out by 1:30am all for ordering a water. The exact words from the bartender were "if you're not drinking - get out". Needless to say we didn't get our waters, and the only people served from our group were ones ordering alcoholic beverages. Typical Saratoga $$ grab - and major a$$hole vibes from bartender. Solid dive-bar, throwback kinda place. Local, friendly, unpretentious vibes. Burgers are good and surprisingly budget-friendly -- I had a bacon blue chz burger and fries for $13. Beers are cold and service is efficient. Off Broadway in Saratoga a few blocks down Caroline St., Yelp has this establishment mislabeled as a dive bar. Maybe at one time it was, but it is definitely not that now. Best characterization now is a sports bar. They've got plenty of tv's (seem like they're everywhere) and probably a dozen or so draft beers on tap. Pretty standard beers they're drawing, but they do have Flower Power IPA (7.2% ABV) from Ithaca, Hopnash IPA (also at 7.2% ABV) from Uinta Brewing Co. out of Utah, Stella, and a Goose Island lager. They feature a full size bar with plenty of seating and lots of tables as well. The bar is trimmed in brass and looks quite nice for a sports bar actually. We headed down with some friends for 20 cent wings (all night on Thursdays) and weren't disappointed by them as they were extra crispy (as ordered), well sauced, jumbo sized, and warm. The only serious problem was we ordered a dozen bbq and they were served us a dozen HOT bbq, which isn't good since a person in our party is allergic to cayenne pepper. No big deal, I sent them back and we got a new order and they threw in a couple extras too at no charge, lol. Oh, and one other tiny issue, the server switched the medium and extra hot wings on my friends, so there's that, but again, no big deal as they looked almost identical on the plate and they pretty much noticed it once they bit into their first wing. We found the bartender and food service to be friendly and attentive, thought not very adept, and I would not hesitate to return, especially on a Thursday. Strong and free (just like 'merica!!) WiFi. And bonus, they were playing tunes from bands like Zeppelin, GNR, and Pink Floyd, so yeah, it was cool. read more

20 cent wings on Thursdays till 11 pm. Be careful when ordering barbeque wings though. Apparently, they do a hot barbeque and we were served the hot version by mistake, though it was quickly corrected after bringing it to their attention. I do order my wings extra crispy and they came out perfect. Our food and beers arrived quickly and at the appropriate temperatures. The entire establishment is quite narrow but it has a long, full bar. 4 person high top tables are available too. This place is totally fine, but is forgettable. Typical sports bar decor with plenty of t.v.'s and dim lighting. The place was busy with locals on a Thursday night probably because they serve those 20 cent chicken wings. Going down the hill on Caroline Street does not mean you're going down in quality. This was my first visit to Trotters in over a decade, and I liked the improvements since last time. It's got a bright, somewhat upbeat look now, with lots of bar seating and several tables. But what impressed me most were the beer and liquor selections, the food, and the very reasonable prices for the food. It was very good quality pub food, and then some, including the steamed clams and their clam chowder. The burgers had a decent variety of toppings, came out quickly, and were messy-good. The fries were equally good, and they have a poutine-variety too. Service is laid back but otherwise very attentive, and they take pride in the food they serve. My family likes to get together here, and I'll certainly join them whenever whey suggest it. read more

I love their food - its cheap (thursday nights especially have some great specials) and filling and amazing for what you're paying. I got the cajun chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries, and was in heaven. There was some sort of sauce that you put on the chicken - not quite mustard, but something like that - amazing. My boyfriend split steamers and wings with a group, and he was in awe of how good the steamers are considering how inexpensive they are. Like - kept repeating "Oh my god these are amazing" almost to the point of it being annoying. My friend (whose dad owns another restaurant in Saratoga) said the food is so good because the owner/chef is a lady - not sure if what he said has merit, but I am definitely going back soon for more of those sweet potato fries. It's amazing that some SNOBS call Trotters and its customers garbage. My horse race owner friends and I spend a good amount of time @ Trotters. Friendly staff and reasonable prices. Fresh steamers for $3 a dozen are amazing. As a professional poker player and winner of the World Series of Poker I can spend my cash anywhere. I've been to the most expensive restaurants in the world. Thank God for Trotters! Looking for Caviar, La Grande Dame Vintage Rose Champagne or Louis XIII Hennessy Cognac bring your Platinum AMEX to another local restaurant or bar. The owners and staff are very welcoming. Trust me, if you like seafood order the steamed littlenecks. Simply the finest and only 8 bucks for two dozen. I was mistreated at this establishment and when I asked to speak to the owner about my grievance the following day I was told to leave. I went in there as a gentleman with a genuine concern and I was treated once again like a leper. I never once caused a scene. I even said thank you as the bitchy bartender pointed at the door for me as if it weren't in an obvious location. I'm very disappointed with their actions. My husband and his friends from work (Navy) go to Trott's for the cheap drinks. It's usually full of douche bags. Molly is right. But the drinks are strong and cheap. Value is a consideration.
