Oh, where do I start? On June 1, 2021, my wife reserved 2 drift boats for July 7th. We later…read morecalled to change the reservation for 1 drift boat for July 8th, but we were never able to speak to a live person, so my wife left a voicemail. After a few days of not hearing back from Dutch John Resort, my wife called again and left another message. Long story short, my wife called a total of 5 times and no one ever returned her call. One person said someone would. Jump to July 8th. We arrived at the store to pick up our drift boat, what a nightmare. We contacted the young lady who was working in the fly fishing store, and she was truly a breath of fresh air (Ms. Martinez is her name). She went through our reservations and it turns out whoever was responsible for updating our reservation decided to just cancel it. Ms. Martinez handled our reservation as a walk in and was able to direct us to the general store where we were able to book a drift boat for the day. We paid for the rental and drove around to the back side of the store to retrieve our rental. No, it was not that easy. I handed my receipt to the gentleman and he told me to park near the trailers they have lined up near the parking lot, so that is what I did. After approximately 15 minutes, nothing is happening. I walked back over to the boat rental "shack" and the gentleman is telling me my ball hitch is to big ( mine is a 2 5/16 hitch, but I need a 2 inch ball hitch). As he is searching for a hitch, I hear him speaking with another employee asking where "P" is (I used his first initial so I don't embarrass "P"). He then tells the employee "P" is not supposed to be driving because he doesn't have a license, and he is gone, he is finished with "P" because he has told him before not to drive without a driver's license. After approximately an hour of waiting, he finds a ball hitch, hooks up my truck to the trailer and has me drive around to a covered outside fenced area. I did as he requested. I exited my vehicle and I saw the drift boat rental assigned to me. The boat was covered in dirt, there were beer cans and drink cans in the boat and water was still in the boat. He proceeds to use an empty Folgers coffee container to bale out the water, then I help him load it onto the trailer with 2 other employees. As my wife and I are driving out to were we are going to launch the boat, we start discussing the time we wasted waiting for the gentleman to find a tow hitch and prepping the boat. I decided to call Dutch John to see if I could return the boat a first thing in the morning due to the delay and due to the current time; it was approximately 1400 hours when we finally hit the road to the launch site. Oh yeah, the launch site was about an hour away, and the boat needed to be returned by 1900 hours; that simply was not going to happen. A young lady answered the phone and told us if we kept the boat past 1900 hours, we would incur a second days charge ($270.00). We said never mind, but called back 5 minutes later to rent the boat for a second day. Sounds easy enough, right? Nope. When I returned the boat on the 9th, a young man told me I was not getting my deposit back because I did not return the boat on the previous day. He told me "Dave" wanted to talk to me, so he went into the store to get Dave. A few minutes later he came back out and told me "Dave" wanted me to go into the store to talk to him. At this point I am getting very frustrated, but I complied. I walked into the store and asked for "Dave". Guess what, "Dave" was to busy to speak with me, so he sent out one of his employees. The employee was a young lady and she was very nice, courteous and respectful. I explained my "Dutch John Resort" experience with her and she told me she would go back to speak with "Dave". I don't even know if there really is a "Dave" as I have never seen or spoken with him. Anyway, she returns and cleared up THEIR confusion about the late return. I showed the young lady the charge on my card for the second day. Overall experience would be a 1, but the two ladies I dealt with were very helpful, courteous, understanding and respectful. My suggestion, rent elsewhere. Jesse & Kathy

Manager gave us options to change rooms, none were up to basic cleanliness standards. We did not stay and found other accommodations. The owner Kass, told us she would try to make it happen considering the flow, and we got lucky....Thank you Kass for all phases of running a successful family business. Your wonderful guides, Ava, Alex, Austin and lead guide Rain were all so amazing in making safety the priority yet having fun. The knowledge they all have of the Canyons history and its peoples made the trip so much more interesting and memorable. Our guide Austin was as authentic a human being as a human his age could be. I know how proud his Dad and Mom are of him, as they did an incredible job in raising him... but again, that would easily go for Ava, Alex, and Rain !! So, this trip would be rated higher than five stars for the DRE Team if I could, I thank you all for the hard work you all put into making this happen...Mark Sandeen

I imagined myself sitting on a raft for lengthy hours bored to death. He persisted and I reluctantly agreed. Now that the trip is over, I am so glad my husband persisted, and honestly I could have easily stayed for a longer period of time. The guides (Joe, Payton, Donovin, Jess, Rain, and Luke) were hardworking, interesting, cheerful, skilled, and a joy to be around. The food was delicious and freshly made every day. The rapids were fun. The views were amazing, at every bend there seemed to be something new to see. Not only did we have time to swim and paddle, but also to take hikes and explore the surrounding area. I would do a trip with Dinosaur River Expeditions again in a heartbeat. I highly recommend them.

This was a solo trip for me as I needed to get away and put my life back in perspective. Javi and his crew at Adrift were amazing. I had no problems booking this trip and all my calls and emails were answered in a timely manner. The guides are professional, educational, energetic, and excellent culinary camping chefs (the food is really the only thing that is not primitive on this trip, and it is plentiful and excellent) really just good people with a really good vibe. They were always there to assist or answer any of your questions regarding camping, the environment, rafting.. whatever, they always made time for you. The scenery on this trip is indescribable... like taking a picture of the Grand Canyon... you cant really do it.. you must experience it... the only way to see this amazing place is by raft...The number of trips through this National Park is limited so human impact is limited as well. The environment is pristine.. like stepping back in time. You add primitive camping and a plethora of amazing hiking opportunities (pristine creeks, rivers, deer, mountain goats, waterfowl and birds of all kinds, plants beyond count, waterfalls, meadows, canyons, craggy cliffs and mind boggling sky high canyon walls) it makes a spectacular trip for anyone; Solo, an adventurous couple, friends, or a family (there is an age restriction). Make no mistake. This is not a hyped up Disneyland. This is remote primitive camping in the natural world where your transportation to amazing camping sites is by raft. There are no roads and there is no communication in or out via cellphone. The people in our group (including Javi and the guides) were from all over. Everyone together is what made this trip so successful IMO. From Canada to Cuba, to Bahamas, Texas and Hawaii. All different personalities and life experiences that we all got to share and enjoy. Each person I met was very cool and special in their own way. There was no drama. There was camaraderie and friendship and everyone helped and supported each other. There was also ample time to spend with your own thoughts.. your own contemplation of your place in the World... its that kind of environment. you make this trip what you want.. This was an Adrift "Specialty Trip" and we had two amazing individuals each with their own special gifts; International reggae singer/songwriter/storyteller Mishka and his young son, and Reda Boustani a certified Baptiste yoga instructor/life coach. We were invited to experience each of these wonderful individuals special gifts. Mishka played around the campfire each evening and even on the flat-water though Echo Park! Was a wonderful experience. And Reda invited us for morning yoga to relax our mind, body, and spirit. He also was the mind behind several of our amazing meals. (All of the meals were prepared fresh with quality and nutritious ingredients) it was nice to spend time with them during this experience.. Adrift put together a well organized, fun, adventurous trip with no hassles. Do not hesitate to book a trip with them. In fact, my new annual solo trip will be a specialty trip with Adrift Dinosaur. Just do it... you will not regret it.
