We come to Trout River Fish at least once a month, sometimes once a week. Their fish is fresh and even better they will clean and prepare it for you to take home to cook. As for ANY seafood bought in ANY location it is really up to the cook to know what signs to look for before preparing and consuming and seafood. Trout River is as fresh as it gets, caught from local water and helping locals keep food on their table in more ways then one. They have a extensive selection of bait and tackle also, the staff has always been awesome with our family, happy to help us get into our groove fishing in a new military duty station. They are affordable and even have a fishing bridge on site for you to use. As for previous reviews, I'm going to give the same advice we give on the west coast: Don't eat shellfish if you don't know how to pick it out yourself. Bad clams are pretty easy to find, and in this heat, Dude probably didn't transport them appropriately. I have bought plenty of clams from Trout River and didn't get sick, put I also clean and check my clams before I cook them. read more

I came here to check it out, but didn't buy anything. Within a three minutes of entering the store a worker had asked me twice if I needed any assistance. There seemed a decent staffing in the market. Everything looked clean, and for the pandemic, as optimally managed as one could expect. The front of the store is fishing and accessories, and the back is the market. I was genuinely surprised how clean and fresh everything was. I was disappointed beforehand how little information/online representation there was about this place, so I took some photos to help them as well as anyone else that might want to know more about it before trekking there from wherever they are. read more

This store is a treasure and probably one of the last of its breed. Fresh, fresh, fresh fish. If it's been frozen, they will tell you. If you're not satisfied with what you bought you can return it and get something else. This is the only seafood market I know of that will do that. I guess the whiners didn't know that but it's printed on the wall in big letters. I just got some trigger fish and it cooked up better than you can get in a restaurant at many times what it would cost there. Ordered 30 whiting fish for my mom and auntie and Michelle and Ernest did an amazing job on cleaning my fish and they were very friendly and professional. Bought two 40 pounds boxes of oysters, everyone ended up sick. Called the company gave me a run around. Basically, paid 120$ for entire family to be sick! I'm the only one that doesn't eat seafood and figures I was the only one not sick. read more

My dad told me about this place several years ago, and I can definitely say this is the best seafood market I've ever been to. Great prices, ALWAYS fresh seafood.. Love getting the 3lbs of jumbo shrimp for $20, they're not only good to fish with but what you don't use you can take home to cook. For a small fee they will clean it, filet it and wrap it.. Sold me 2 dozen blue crabs and all but 3 were females full of eggs. Inedible and in addition this is against the law. I know to look for that but my son did not. They should at least inform you. I have pictures. read more
