Sponsored by bubba burgers, good place for standard fast food items. There is indoor and outdoor eating. The courtyard is fun. The service has a lot to be desired for (very unenthusiastic), but the environment is top notch. Great view of the trout river (in the courtyard) Only 3 stars because the service has never been great

Been here multiple times and especially for a Zoo the food is good. The 1914 burger is great.

This iconic spot has been a staple in the community since 1962--and you can feel that legacy the moment you walk in. Even better, it's part of the Blue Zones Project, so you're getting food that's not just delicious, but aligned a business that understands healthy living. Now let's talk about the sandwiches...We got the chicken philly and steak sandwich-both were EXCELLENT! Packed with flavor and generously made--you'll likely be saving half for later (if you can resist finishing it). And don't skip the smoothies--they're the perfect balance of healthy and tasty, and honestly, one of the best ways to round out your meal. This place isn't just a sandwich shop--it's a Jacksonville gem. Trust me, you won't regret it.

Make it a meal to add fries and a drink. The sandwiches reasonably priced and are HUGE!!! If you eat the entire thing you will be in an all day food coma. You'll eat half for lunch and have the rest for dinner. Karen took our order she was nice and efficient. I don't remember the guy's name in the back but he was super as he thanked us for waiting and asked how everything was. The food is worth the wait. If you're in a hurry this is probably not the place for you. It took a while but we didn't mind, we were not in a hurry and we could smell the goodness being made. It's an older place but has character. Old various photos, plenty of room for seating. It seemed like more people were taking their food to go. We sat and enjoyed our meal. We also took home the other half of our sandwiches since they were so big. If you're in the area and have never been to Blue Boy, you need to check them out. You can thank me later.

I mostly do to go orders, but if I do have the time, I will sit down and eat. During lunch, they sell pizza by the slice and it is very tasty. I usually get the meat lovers. The restaurant itself is fairly small. It kind of feels like a mom and Pop shop. So they mostly sell pizza and Italian dishes and they also sell desserts as well. The food always comes out fresh and the price doesn't lock your head off. It really is a staple in the community and I wish more people knew about this amazing pizza in Italian food with the community.

I was even more excited when I learned that it holds the distinction of being Jacksonville's oldest pizzeria (a piece of local history that deserves recognition). Unfortunately, the food did not live up to the legacy. The pizza tasted as though the dough came in frozen, reminding me of lower quality supermarket pizza rather than something made fresh in house. Given its reputation, I left genuinely surprised by the lack of flavor, texture, and overall quality. I was equally puzzled to see this restaurant featured among Jacksonville's best. Based on my experience, it made me question the standards behind those recommendations. The baked ziti was particularly disappointing and, quite honestly, the worst I've ever had. The restaurant's history and longevity are admirable, and its story is undoubtedly its strongest asset. I only wish the food reflected the same level of care and craftsmanship that has allowed the establishment to endure for so many years.

The chicken tenders are giant and definitely a crowd pleaser! The chicken is juicy and breading was perfectly crispy and seasoned well. We added some cheese to the fries for our daughter and that was a hit. The pulled pork pizza was surprisingly delicious too. The addition of the jalapeños gave it the balance of spice to the sweet barbecue sauce. The loaded cheeseburger fries and the buffalo chicken fries were my favorite! If you're looking for comfort in a bowl then these are must share items! I liked the sauce options given inside the restaurant, everything was clean and they have a crew keeping up with the trays while you eat in the courtyard. The food was surprisingly good, in the past we avoided buying food at the zoo but now we'll make it a special treat.

Palm Plaza Cafe (PPC) is one of two places to eat in the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens and for a…read morerestaurant in a zoo, other places need to take some notes. - Vibe - PPC is a pretty cool set up! When you walk in, you have the order counter/kitchen to the right and the open seating area to the left. There are high ceilings with exposed beams and linen draped over, so it hangs down. The walls are beautifully covered with vibrant colored photographs of animals (I hope they are of the animals in the Jacksonville Zoo, because that would make it even that much cooler). On the left, there are three massive arched windows and what's cool about these windows is that it looks out into the Jaguar exhibit, so every once in awhile, you see a jaguar walk by. I didn't realize until a swarm of children ran over and glued their faces to the windows! - TLC - You know the kind of service at a typical fast-paced food joint in an attraction spot? Yeah, not here. The service was outstanding. Very courteous and the manager emerged from out of the kitchen and came to fix the line divider to let more people in from outside! Yes, more people than he already had in the very large establishment. There were so many hungry visitors, but the staff had a good system and were worked the line quickly. Great crowd control and great team, Sir! (And you're also brave sporting a GA Bulldogs shirt in Gator territory LOL). - Eats / Refreshments - It's Tex Mex fare. Very limited options, but why would you even expect more? So let's be honest. It's not going to be "authentic" or the "best thing" you've ever had, but for a Zoo? They are serving up some basic, BUT decent and most importantly, fresh food! Chicken Tacos - I had the chicken tacos upon the cashier's recommendation. It was stewed in something, but it had flavor! And the lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese were fresh! Nothing wilted or soggy. They were good! It came with a side of Rice and Beans and again, decent and good! Sante Fe Bowl - Husband ordered this and it's basically everything I had in a bowl, minus the lettuce and tomatoes, but with some tortilla chips. Also not bad! - Kiddos - The kids had a taco and a side of fruit (canned) and Mac and Cheese, also with a side of fruit. The Mac wasn't KD. Elbow noodles with some gooey cheese sauce. Needless to say, kids ate it with no issues. - Heads Up - The lines look long and discouraging, but I think it actually moves faster than the larger food pavilion. Plus, you have the distraction of the tiger exhibit for the kids. Also, don't get the coffee. It was a gloomy and somewhat chilly day and I wanted something warm to sip on. The cashier let me know that the coffee was the same batch since they opened, so I was thankful she told me at least. One of the better food spots in an attraction I've been to and the most important thing to note here is that everything was at a reasonable price, on top of it all. I mean, yes, I know that when make an outing to places like the zoo or other attractions, it's expected that I'm gonna spend some money so what's a few more (or tens more) dollars, but it's nice to get a little break sometimes!

Unfortunately, I'm not in the area that much, and only once did I make the journey just to come here. What is the draw, you may ask? Great beer, great food, great atmosphere, great vibes! , That said, every meal I have had here has been delicious. The beer is pretty darn good & cold too! Of course, with the long drive...ya gotta limit it. But it's worth it for anything on the menu. I don't know where to start food-wise, I am trying to eat my way around the menu. The gator tail and fish dip are two of my favorites for small bites/appetizers. The Elk burger, the Taphouse burger, and the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich are always amazing....and then there's the cole slaw...yummy! Delicious food, and they have more than just sandwiches. The menu offers a little something different. The atmosphere and vibe are always inviting, and the staff is super friendly. The prices are fair, portions are ample, and there is plenty of parking. The decor is fun too! Not to mention, they give a veteran discount with proof of ID. What more can you ask for? Well, I know what I can ask for! To the owners: pretty please, with sugar on top, consider opening a location in St. Augustine. Not in the downtown area, but the folks north of town need something; they need you! Around the Palencia & Kensington area, off US 1 to be exact...or anywhere nearby in that area. The folks there would love something they can walk to, ride bikes to, maybe even use a golf cart to get to...and yes, a short drive is good too. Jus' sayin'! Please just check it out...I said pretty please!
