This was the first time we've been inside since the renovations. The food was excellent quality! The waitress staff and cashier were very nice and expedient. The place looks amazing with the renovations. They also got new menus. I am posting the menu but forgot to take a picture of the food sorry.

Troutman's is definitely an institution. My partner-in-dine's family have been coming to Troutman's all their lives. But what makes Troutman's an oasis is its dependability. You can always rely on their friendly and quick service. You can also be confident that you'll get good food (and in generous portions) every time: Troutman's is full of locals and that, in my opinion, is an effective gauge of an establishment's good reputation.

Don't be fooled by the word barbecue in their name. It's more of a family restaurant, although they do have some barbecue. The menu had 28 side dishes- so pretty much anything you'd like. I had the ribs- I don't think they were cooked in a pit and the sauce was thin. They tasted good but they are not cooked in the style of modern barbecue restaurant. The food was certainly a throwback to the 70s family style restaurant. Meatloaf. Fried chicken. Mashed potatoes and gravy.

In our lives we all have certain standards of what we expect from an establishment. Whether that be in the food industry, service industry, hotel industry etc. , but when it comes to barbecue Troutman's barbecue in Concord North Carolina has always been my gold standard. I was a very young teenager when I last ate at Troutman's s and after 40 years, I can honestly say they have maintained their quality in truly great BBQ. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful in guiding customers through their menu items. I had my old favorite the pulled pork plate. A healthy portion of tender Hickory smoked pork a side of the best coleslaw you'll ever have and of course those tender nuggets of hush puppies. There are a lot of BBQ places in NC, but this is the real deal you can't stay in business for 51 years and not have a excellent product. If your overwhelmed in choosing BBQ, search no further than Troutman's.

Troutman's is a local favorite of many people. It once had multiple locations but now has diminished to one. Personally, I think it's alright but it could be a lot better. One off set is you will be stuck with the smell of grease after you leave. And people CAN tell.

Heading into Concord on Church Street, Troutman's is on the left. This is their main location and you'll notice the cook house in the rear of the parking lot. They still cook their BBQ on site, I think they still use wood but not positive about that . Troutman's is an old family run business and has been serving BBQ for many years. The provided a heaping sandwich which was very tasty. The slaw was good and my bun was toasted. I had two sandwiches and tea for $8.51. The service was good and the food was good too. The building could use some updating but it's a good place to stop in and taste BBQ the way it should be served. BBQ education; there are two NC styles of BBQ: Eastern mostly whole hogs slow cooked over wood and sometimes gas and served with Brunswick stew (beef and chicken with vegetables), slaw (either yellow or red), corn bread (either hush puppies or corn bread sticks), white small potatoes or fries. The sauce is usually vinegar based with some added spices especially red peppers. You can usually find Texas Pete served also. The BBQ can be sliced, pulled or chopped... and some of the skin and fat is usually left in for flavor. Most people prefer pulled which is larger pieces, if you don't specify then you will usually get pulled. The other mostly in western NC is usually pork shoulders either slow cooked over wood or gas. Gas is becoming a popular fuel to conserve wood and the air quality. The wood adds some great flavor and many people don't want it any other way. Pork shoulders are smaller cuts of meat and cook in less time. The cooked meat usually is served with a mayonnaise based slaw, fries or on a sandwich. If you order a basket or tray you usually just get BBQ and hush puppies. If you order a plate you get fries and probably a side of slaw. The sides can certainly vary... so ask. The sauce is usually thick and red, based with ketchup some added spices especially red peppers and vinegar. You can usually find Texas Pete served also. The BBQ can be sliced, pulled or chopped... and some of the skin and fat is usually left in for flavor. Most people prefer pulled which is larger pieces, if you don't specify then you will usually get pulled. Many area restaurants now offer BBQ Chicken and beef brisket (mostly a Texas dish) along with pork spare ribs and beef ribs too. These items are not typically found with true NC family BBQ establishments... mostly the larger ones trying the satisfy more people with their offerings. Since Concord and Charlotte are in the middle of the state... you will find both types here.

Food was great but it was very busy so service was slow. Being retired it is a good place to catch up with friends.

My daughter called and when we arrived, we were lucky and was seated right away as a table was coming open. Small inside footprint but cozy with a full bar. Also outdoor patio seating. The hostess, our waitress and the walk around staff refilling water was top tier. Excellent customer service. Our waitress wasbbomb, I hate i forgot her name. Even though the place was packed she tooknour order in a timely manner, and kept checking on us be9fre we got our food,.kept us informed that the kitchen was busy but she on it. Allnifnkur food was delicious. My daughter had chicken and Belgium waffles, and I had the shrimp amd grits, my mom had a breast platter. All great choices. Give them a try!

Seriously. Everything has pork. I got a handheld egg sandwich with tomato and cheese on a croissant with their potatoes. Basic sandwich, dry and the cheese & tomato were an extra charge. The potatoes were hard like they're old. The mimosa was good, regular sparkling with pineapple juice. And their tip machine doubles the recommended amount so for my $9 mimosa it generates a +$3 tip at 18 % but it should have been under $2. Just wanted to point that out too. I won't be back.

A must stop for both dinner and Southern breakfast enthusiasts…read more On my way home from Charlotte, I used Yelp to find me a classic diner to start my day off right. I choose the Crack of Dawn Diner in Concord. I am so glad I did. Crack of Dawn Diner is the real thing--a local Concord breakfast-and-lunch spot serving traditional Southern fare at reasonable prices. The menu caters to local tastes, the dining room is filled with regulars, and the atmosphere is comfortable rather than trendy. Parking is somewhat limited. The private lot surrounding the restaurant was fully used so I parked in the lot next door that had signs that said private property, but it looked like other patrons were parking there also so I took the chance. As it turns out, it was safe to park there. The entrance is very welcoming, as well as the staff. Amanda was my very efficient and nice waitress. There is great teamwork here, and Amanda was well supported by, I believe, the owner who ran my food out and talked a bit with me. The menu is fascinating. A distinctly North Carolina menu. Several things jumped out: * Breakfast special for $6.59 weekdays * Breakfast plates mostly under $12 * Grits included as a side option * Livermush available * City ham and country ham both offered * Pork chops available for breakfast I ordered the country-fried steak with white gravy (essentially chicken-fried steak), along with two sunny-side-up eggs, perfectly prepared grits, a large buttermilk biscuit, and a delicious diner coffee. The restaurant occupies a stand-alone building with a warm, "come on in and rest a spell" atmosphere. Inside, you'll find counter seating, an open kitchen, and tables throughout the dining room. I chose a seat by the window overlooking the parking area. This was a great breakfast, that was reasonably priced, in a great atmosphere, with very nice people. It stuck to both my mind and ribs all day long. After breakfast, I continued on to downtown Concord and spent some time exploring one of North Carolina's most charming revitalized downtown districts. The breakfast was the perfect start to the morning. Crack of Dawn Diner has earned a spot on my repeat list whenever my travels take me through the Charlotte-Concord area.

I also ordered a side of green beans, they were also straight from the can. I also received a sweet tea, which was good but also how do you mess that up? And the kicker, $18 for that... should have stayed home. I was really hopeful for this place but after trying it twice and it was just as bland, I unfortunately will not be back.
