Pleasantly surprised to get such great seafood in Garrett Co. I generally tell people the this is not the part of the state to get seafood. My mind has been changed. First time there I just wanted to check it out, bought some of their oysters to eat raw, they were excellent. Very fresh. Seafood selection was terrific. A few days later hubby picked up a dozen large steamed crabs. They were wonderful. I was in Baltimore a couple months ago and Trouts prices were actually cheaper, as far as MD blue crabs. Quality was just as good. Can't wait to return. I did buy some cream of crab soup and crab cakes but have not eaten them yet. Please please please get some T-shirts to sell!!! read more

We were looking for steamed crabs last minute but unfortunately they were out so we settled on crab cakes which were completely amazing - no filler ALL crab - they were the crabbiest crab cakes I ever had and were delicious! We called after we left to ask how to prepare - "just pop them in at 450 for 15-18 minutes - don't touch them" and they were perfect! We'll be back! read more

Trouts House is doing a great job with social distancing while also providing excellent quality seafood. We ordered a half bushel of crabs and 1.5 lbs of shrimp. Both were excellent, as was the service. They honored our special request for extra Old Bay without issue. When we pulled away, we noticed they were disinfecting the doorknobs and everything touched by recent patrons. They get an A+ in our book! read more

Visited for the first time last Saturday. Purchased several frozen items and some fresh oysters. They had three different types of oysters. I bought two of each so I could figure out which one I like best. On the way home in the car, I kept thinking to myself what's that smell? It was the oysters. All of them were bad horrible smell of ammonia when they weren't even shelled. I had to throw them out. I will be returning to to see if they would make good on the $10 I spent on the oysters, but snow crab legs in the case looked excellent as did some of the fresh fish so I'm going to give them another chance I will be posting another review read more

Went in today for our annual fish fry purchase. We had gluten-free crab cakes from them last year. We asked for them again and they said you need to order those a day in advance. Guess what, they made them anyways and had them ready for us later today. My dad always taught me to be nice to people and they will be nice back. So disgusted.. Shortly after getting a bushel of crabs from Trout's House Seafood someone in our family got sick and was throwing up all night. The crabs stunk of ammonia and were slimy. They had to have been dead when cooked. We'll be calling the Health Department but since so many people in here look for recommendations on places, I figured you all should know where NOT to go too. Oh and to top it off, their poor customer service wanted to only offer a $50 gift card. $350 spent on a bushel of crabs (dead crabs), unable to eat them, one of us gets sick and they only offer a gift card to go back to somewhere we would NEVER want to go again for our own health. read more

So happy to see the Trout's name from Frederick up here in Deep Creek. We were not disappointed. We took a 1/2 bushel of #1 crabs, which I ended up ordering through their Facebook page using Messenger, and they were delicious! Nice and spicy, and the meat tasted fresh. They told us that they had been on a special permit on weekends only since Memorial Day until recently when they received their health department certification which allowed them to operate more often and inside their building. They're just behind Green Turtle on Deep Creek Drive. We'll be back- it looks like they had a good selection of our favorite seafood items. Lovely people and great seafood.We buy fish there as much as we can. Being locals this truly is the go-to spot for fresh seafood. Even the frozen offerings are better then any other we have bought. They even stayed open for us a little after close so we could hurry in last minute for a pound of their delicious salmon. We ordered #1 crabs to take to PITTSBURGH when we were leaving Deep Creek. They steamed them in old bay, packaged them with ice and threw in some seasoning. When we got home, we heated them in the oven and they were truly amazing! My husband is from Maryland and we eat crabs every summer and these were as good as the ones we eat by the bay. Then we ordered a dozen large to eat at our place at Deep Creek and they gave us paper for the table, steamed them perfectly and they were again very large and DELICIOUS!! The owners are so friendly and we need this place to thrive because the opportunity to eat amazing crabs this far from the Bay is a gift to all of us!! read more

Dishonest business. They take orders without being able to fulfill on them, and provide no notice to the buyer. We drove 30 minutes to pick up our order, which per their policy had been placed more than 24 hours in advance, and were told they had no crabs. Some friends had picked up an order a few hours ahead of us, which was short of the amount of crabs they had ordered and paid for. Perhaps because Trout's has a somewhat captive customer base they don't care about their business ethic, but I'm quite happy to not buy crabs when we come to the lake if my alternative is to do business at Trout's. read more

The seafood in the cases is beautiful and looks very fresh. But 2 weeks ago my son bought 2 dozen #1 males and most of the shells were almost empty. The seasoning was great and the meat that was there was good, but they were very expensive and almost every crab was very light. Unfortunately we won't buy them again because they're too expensive to take another chance. read more
