It is a home atmosphere. When I realized that I could no longer take of husband at home I had to make the difficult decision of finding a place. I visited several facilities and none compare to Arden Courts. My husband is receiving outstanding care. He has many health issues besides dementia and all of his needs are being met. When I take my husband home for a few hours, he tells me he wants to go "home". That says a lot about his care and I know he is happy and healthy. Involved in the school industry. We never thought of placing our Dad in a retirement facility due to all the negative connotations. It was a true blessing when needed to find a home, we came across The Willows. It is a small retirement home for adults which is what we were looking for so our dad can be given the much needed personal attention. My siblings and I graciously Thank Mrs. Pinto and Ms. Chin for their thoughtfulness, care and attention. This home is not the typical institution like facility. It is a beautiful B&B style home with a very caring staff and no foul odors. It is a private facility with exceptional amenities all inclusive in the monthly rate. I highly recommend anyone needing a home for their love ones to take a tour of The Willows. It is truly a rare gem of a retirement home that caters to your needs.

My father had a fairly brief stay in nursing home at Crane's Mill from July of 2024 through…read moreOctober of 2024. I waited to write this review so I would be able to reflect more clearly on the experience. Mostly, my father's and my family's time there was not very positive. I am leaving the two stars for those staff members that did treat my father with kindness, compassion and understanding. We decided to put my father on hospice so we could access more daily care and less medical testing ect. However, what we observed is less concern, less care and less compassion. My father's care was not easy as he had little mobility and dementia/delirium the last few weeks was significant. Hospice did provide pharmacological intervention but did not provide much support or communication with the family. Fortunately, my family was able to spend every day with him and provide him with the support required to make him as comfortable as possible. The most disturbing was that my father was placed at the end of the hall and after this daily visit once per shift by the nurse, there was no check- ins by the aides other than the alert bell that he could ring. The thing is when we rang, it was longer then 10 to 15 minutes before anyone would show up and at times it could be 30 to 40 minutes. No aide was stationed outside in the hall, so I spent much of my time searching for help. There were four occasions, I found them on their cell phones in empty rooms. Rarely, did not see supervisors on the floor making periodic checks on both him and staff. Basically, any assistance received other than the bare minimum, was mostly reactive not proactive. I would like to thank the nurse that did sit with him a few times during the end as his anxiety was severe and also the staff members that alerted me when his needs not being met. In the end, an aide assigned to my dad daily was treating me harshly, that I hired a private aide to stay with my father so that I could take a break from what appeared to be passive aggressive cruelty. This aide refused my father his last cup of coffee on his last day telling him the kitchen was closed, as my brother showed up and retrieved a cup in that kitchen. Previously, I did ask supervisor to speak to her but was told, that it was happening. I often wonder how she treated him while I was not present as he was somewhat helpless. Unfortunately, taking care of both my parents, I witnessed other facilities, and it is my opinion as a society, we must do better with the elderly. Working with the elderly and health care is a very difficult job. Owners and administrators must do better providing a caring emotionally and monetary rewarding environment for their staff. The response to these reviews asks the writer to call and discuss. Again, reactive, so I will offer my further input only if it is a proactive response.

I have been a resident at this facility since 1/16/26-7/2/26…read more The building is of old converted construction and occasionally, there are problems with the heat and AC. The building does need a complete plumbing and AC update. The maintenance staff does work very hard to keeps things operating properly. There are a few young ladies who work here making appointments and doing other paperwork for the patients. I will not mention any names but we all know who they are and I have to say Thank You to to them for their help and pleasant attitude. Sometimes I drive them crazy but they are very understanding and accommodating. The facilities social worker is very pleasant and helpful. There are minor (and sometimes) major operational problems with the facilities three Hoya Lifts. My room, the hallways and common areas are cleaned everyday of the week (not that they need It). In other reviews, some stated, upon entering the building, there was a strong odor of urine. I have been here for some time and I have never experienced that. There are everyday activities to keep the residents occupied and stimulated. The food is not 5 stars but it is fairly good for nursing home standards with a few outstanding dishes. There is a problem with some of the kitchen staff not being able to read and understand what you ordered due to the language barrier (or they just don't care). The kitchen director is constantly trying to correct the problem. However, as of this writing, the problem continues almost every day, three meals a day. I hope that he fixes it because at times, it can be very, very frustrating. Going on six months and NOTHING has been corrected. You would think that after six months, the problems would be corrected but not this place. Some will think that I'm a racist and I don't really care because everybody that knows me, knows differently. Everybody is entitled to work, however you should be able to communicate in the language of the country where you reside and are employed, no exceptions. Dock them an hour's wage for each mistake and in a few days, they'll be speaking perfect English:) As far as the nurses and nurses aides are concerned, its the same no matter where you go. Some are pleasant and like doing their job and others are very lazy and just plain miserable and unfriendly. There are some that would expend more energy trying to get out of doing their job properly than doing it right in the first place. I am not going to mention any names but I think that those not so nice and unfriendly people know who they are. However, to the pleasant and helpful staff (which there are quite a few and I won't mention their names), I have to say Thank You for making my stay a little more bearable, you were very kind to me. What drives me crazy is how some of the nurses are not fully prepared when it comes to providing such items as wound dressings, colostomy supplies, etc..... When one nurse gathers supplies for a patient, the others act like squirrels stealing the stored supplies for their patient's use. Example: I needed a wound to be dressed which should normally take no more than ten minutes. An hour later, the nurse returned because she had to search two other floors for the proper dressing which is extremely inefficient, time consuming and not very helpful for the patient. As I leave, I am giving this facility a 2.5 star rating and I hope that the owners and staff read it and make the necessary corrections and improvements because when you're recovering from an illness, the patient does not want to tolerate all of these petty, easily fixed problems. I was at Oaks for a couple of weeks for rehab, don't consider having a love one go there. The aids…read moredon't come when you need help, at night I would hear patients crying for help. some were in pain, some needed to use the bathroom. I saw 2+ different aids sleeping in a chair the entire night as patients cried for help. one aid was a female and one was a male. someone stole my ring and other things from my bag while I was in PT, my relatives bought me an edible for Valentine's Day and it cost 100 dollars which I never received. someone stole it and we were never refunded the money. Your suppose to get a shower twice a week but the aids are lazy and don't come, and when you ask they have attitudes. The PT staff were ok but a few come to get you and don't even say hello and are on their cell phones the entire time. The nurses are overwhelmed and some were nice especially Noami was the best one there. The activity program is a joke, you sit in the all purpose room and do nothing. The aides are the worst my bed wasn't changed in 4 days, no one comes when you call them. No one cares there, stay away. It was the worst I've ever been. If I could give this place e a zero I would.
