My oldest daughter and I went here yesterday and fell in love!!!! When we walked in we were greeted right away. The owners cook all the food fresh and the staff is very helpful with the menu. My daughter and I ordered a lot of stuff so we could try a variety of what they offer. It was all so good that I brought my two youngest kids with us today for lunch. Everyone in the family enjoyed their meal and the atmosphere. Only two things I wld change is side options, and the quality of the fries and mashed potatoes. I was so excited to try and placed an order online. Order was accepted and was given a time to come pick it up. Arrived to find the place closed and a handwritten paper sign on the door saying they're closed for the next two days. I had called ahead to make sure they're open, but the answering machine didn't have space so it just kept ringing. Gosh I really thought this was going to be a 5 star review, but our to go order was ten minutes behind today when we happened to be on lunch. After the food was ready, the counter then put the desserts together, seemed like that could have been done while I was waiting knowing the food was behind. We have been here before and really liked it, but today one sandwich was cold too. I'm sure we'll eat here again some day and I do hope I can follow this with a 5star then. This restaurant has everything going for it, except for the service. I have been a patron of this restaurant for a long time: I love the gyro combo, and the pita bread is always fresh and delicious. My kids get the Somsas or split a giant Khachapuri - which are like big quesadillas if you are unfamiliar. The food always tastes great, and the venue is especially cozy after they did their post-COVID renovations, but the service is some of the worst I've experienced. Tasty gem at Big Bend and Meramec Station. Shared the Greek salad with my daughter and I got the chicken gyro sandwich on pita bread and my daughter got the chicken kebab sandwich on freshly made house bread. The Greek salad was very fresh. The dressing was olive oil and lemon juice which made it feel lighter but the salad needed some seasoning so we used some salt and pepper. The sandwiches are Huge. The meat on both tasted outstanding. The tzatziki sauce compliments all the ingredients. The sandwich is very filling and so delicious. The grilled chicken on the kebab had great flavors. Unfortunately we didn't have room to try their baklava. There was a very sweet lady that gave us incredible service. I like the vibe of this restaurant. Food was very good! Tried the falafel, chicken kebab, and a few other savory dishes and enjoyed them all. For the desserts we tried the baklava and the two other cakes. The baklava was very good but I would skip the honey and vanilla cakes in the future. A good place to with friends and share so you try lots of different things. Tucked away in a fairly busy but small shopping center. There's usually no problem with parking but it may be toward the back. My birthday dinner for this year! We stopped in at Troy on a Wednesday evening. I had contacted them through Facebook Messenger earlier in the week to confirm dine-in options and to see if we needed reservations. Dine-in is taking place, and they recommend reservations for parties of 8+. They were easy to communicate with through FB. We ordered hummus/pita and Sarma (stuffed grape leaves) to start. The hummus was great, and it was served with fresh pita triangles. They definitely need to add more pita to the serving size compared to the amount of hummus. The sarma was also good and was served with a side of bread (which was very good and helpful in eating with the hummus) and a side of tzatziki. At our table, we had a lamb shank with rice, gyro over rice, Khachapuri, and Khinkali. The Khinkali was what I ordered because I wanted something a little different from what I would normally get. They are small dumplings filled with seasoned meat and boiled, served with Greek yogurt on the side. So good! I really enjoyed that. We also took home an order of baklava, which was so good. They make it in rolls, so 2 rolls per order and makes it easy for sharing if you're so inclined. The restaurant was clean and is following all COVID guidelines. Our food came out fairly quickly, but we didn't see a server very often. It looked like they only had a couple of people working that night. All in all an enjoyable dinner. read more

Let's see, I would like to start by saying. WOW. YUM! We will be back many many times and we live in another state!! The baba ganoush was awesome. My favorite was the cabbage wraps. In Romanian they are called Sarmale. They are one of my all time favorite foods. The baba ganoush was a little little vinete (the Romanian version,) just a bit more spiced than you'd find in Ro. They have one of the best sandwiches (the Gyro or Chicken Phily) in all of St. Louis. Their other food is also exceptional, but since I usually get take out, the sandwich is pretty much my go to every time. Last time we ate there, my son had the iskander which neither of us loved. It was very rich and difficult to eat more than a bite or two. Our daughter met and started dating a young man (Nik) who lives in NYC. His parents are immigrants from Uzbekistan. So when they met and he learned she was from STL he started looking up Uzbekistan or similar restaurants and discovered Troy. So as he is in town visiting we thought it would be fun to go there and ge could guide us on food choices. Let me just say Troy did not disappoint! Fan-friggin-tastic! Every single bite was excellent. Nik said everything tasted authentic and reminded him of his family's home cooking. He used the term "Legit!" a number of times during the meal. Our favorite dish was the Pilav - bursting with flavor generous portions of lamb. They say that love is a crucial ingredient when making exceptional food and it is obvious the chef at Troy puts ample love in every dish. My dad joined us and he said it was the best lamb he's tasted as he normally doesn't care for lamb. Will absolutely return as Troy is now on top of our list of go-to restaurants. It was just as good (but still had the cheap lettuce esp. white parts). Daughter got Gyro sandwich this time and I think 1st time; had to ask for more Tzatziki sauce because there was hardly any. Second time she had falafel (appetizer) as her entree but it was dry so she didn't want it again. Husband ordered a noodle soup this time. Last time he got the Lentil soup, thinking he wanted to eat light, but portion was too small so he ordered a gyro wrap. This time he also got Chicken kebab plate with rice, to share with his dad. His mom got Tilapia (deep fried, wish they would give option for grilled or pan-fry but they do not) with rice. They liked how their rice had chickpeas! This time we ordered delivery through one of the apps which is always a gamble on timing and if all your items will arrive correctly, etc, but it was wonderful! Troy is located in a strip mall that includes a Jimmy John's, a Papa John's, a Mexican restaurant and bar. Probably works well if the family wants pizza take-out but you want Mediterranean because they are all in the same area. Nice little take out area on one side and a sit-down restaurant area on the other. My Gyro Salad was LOADED with a beef and lamb mixture of meat. The meat was well cooked and tasty. Eight small, soft pita wedges were placed around the edges and the lettuce, tomato, red onion, and tzatziki sauce were all underneath the mound of meat on top. This made two meals for me and it was still very tasty the next day. The tzatziki sauce was very good but not the best I've ever had. Thick, creamy and tasty but I personally think it could use quite a bit more garlic. Takeout service was fast and pleasant. One employee asked if we wanted some water to drink while waiting. We ordered a salad, gyro and two somsas. We were told it would be 6-8 minutes and that's about exactly how long it took. read more

This was my second visit, This time my spouse came along. The place was empty except for the lady taking the order and the guy making the order. We both ordered Gyros on homemade bred vs a pita. The lady taking the order said the bread was better than the pita. I am not sure about it since neither of us had a pita but both of us enjoyed the bread! The Gyros were huge. So large they actually became two meals. The only issue we had was the gyro meat wasn't really warm but then again we ordered it to go and are unsure whether it was the short drive home that cooled it off or it arrived that way. Prices are right, food is pretty good- I would describe the gyros and chicken gyros as typical Greek street food with no sides. Hummus pretty good. Service ok. Honey cake interesting and pretty good. We highly recommend the adana kabob with the mashed potatoes and the beef bore! The reason I took away the star was due to their very long wait time.
