We're part of the Hilton family but always wanted to try a Tru hotel so we thought we'd give it a shot. The front desk was friendly and found the place super clean. Coffees available 24/7 at the entrance and bright and cheerful decor. Egg basket hanging chairs for the kids to play in while we checked in. Our census from our family of four: PROS: Modern and bright Clean Magazines available for free by the lobby Ample shampoo, conditioner, lotion dispensers Ample USB plug in ports CONS: Uncomfortable beds and pillows Missed the down comforters at other Hilton hotels Narrow rooms No drawers No desk (but a roll-away platform) Muffins tasted like cardboard Pancake machine was spewing pancake droplets Ice maker only on main floor We're glad we experienced the hotel but it just wasn't for us. We missed the comfy beds and the fluffy comforters. The $40 or so difference in price between another Hilton hotel is well worth paying for a better nights sleep. We tried it but won't be returning to a Tru location in the future, we'll stick to the other Hilton hotels we know and love. We're glad

Nice clean room, on the small side but just what I needed

Stayed here twice on my roadtrips to and from Colorado and this is my new go to! Love the location, it's super convenient. There are a lot of good easy food choices around - both walking and driving distance. The staff are super friendly here and so are the guests! Both times I stayed, the rooms were super clean. And while you do miss the carpet a bit, I'm happy to stay in a very dog friendly hotel. They even gave us a little welcome baggy with treats and a door hanger (saying a pup was inside and not to enter). The lotions and soaps are general dispensers in the room which is nice and eco friendly. They smell pleasant but very simple. Also loved the gym (they have a filtered water dispenser by the entrance). One thing to note here - the peloton unfortunately doesn't have the typical clip in shoe option. It's installed for different types of clip ins. But they do also have an option to not clip in which is great. The gym was super clean and had great equipment. The breakfast was good, pretty standard of course. Loved the pancakes! Thanks fora great stay!

First off I booked this thru booking.com. So there was already a price negotiated. I got here and they secretly tried to charge me $50 over the price. He ended up charging still more than what was said. Second I came into room and the remote was missing buttons and didn't work. I called room service 3 times. No answer. 4th time he answered; brought me remote. Went to take shower. No body wash. Only shampoo. Called a few times. No answer. Walked to the desk. He was there and no customers. Just didn't care to answer. Told him about it and he just shrugged. Terrible service. Motel 6s would treat you better.

Aside from the hospitality, I am guessing the kickback hour is a big draw as well. They are also pet friendly. We were on a roadtrip to Colorado and decided to spend the night on our way back. There were 2 tour buses when we arrived and it looked like we just missed the crowd at check-in. The front desk folks were an epitome of Texas hospitality. Friendly, laid back and the ladies just made us feel so welcome. We were given 3 drink coupons each for kickback hour. Our 2 queen room on the 2nd floor didn't have much of a view but it was homey and quiet. Kickback hour was busy but staff were surprisingly very accommodating. Their margaritas will give you a buzz. They have hot food items, soup and a salad for the complimentary light dinner. For those that have not stayed at a Drury Inn before, the kickback hour is similar to Embassy Suites' evening reception, but WAY better. We slept surprisingly well, considering the hotel's proximity to the highway. We had no problems with the ac either. Breakfast was better than your typical hotel breakfast with a bunch of options. We did not get to use the other facilities because we had to head out early. This was our first time staying at a Drury property. I'm normally a Hilton and Marriott girl but I'll definitely choose Drury if there is one available in my future destinations. We also appreciate the military discount they offer. Thanks for a memorable stay!

One of the biggest issues was the lack of consistent air conditioning throughout the building, which made common areas feel uncomfortable at times. I also found the terrace layout inconvenient since there are no stairs providing direct access, making it less practical than expected. Unfortunately, the room had a funky odor when I arrived that never completely went away during my stay. While the staff was courteous and the location was convenient, the overall experience didn't match the quality I expected. With some renovations and improved upkeep, this hotel could be a much better place to stay.

Starlight Canyon - Mesquite room hot tub (10/9/2022)

Most folks reviewed Starlight Canyon after a weekend retreat with their fiancés, spouse or…read moresignificant other... It's that kind of place. Lol. I am the single mom who brought her kids here to share the Mesquite room on October 9-10, 2022. This bed and breakfast is located in a somewhat remote area of Amarillo, Texas. The surrounding landscape is a bit reminiscent of Palo Duro Canyon - which is just a short drive away - but not in an extreme way that the Lone Star state park yields. The view from the hot tub at 7:30PM was amazing with a glorious display of sunset colors. Robes were provided behind the bathroom door. Near the pond on the old red, white, and blue amusement park ride chair, we found a walking stick. A friendly orange Tabby cat kept returning to our front door. My 8 and 9-year-old couldn't resist petting the stray feline. We weren't crazy about the continental breakfast which comprised of a cherry turnover, Yoplait yogurt, and Tropicana apple juice so we'll pass on that if we don't stay on a morning when they offer a hot meal. Just a couple of other cons: I leave to pick up pizza in town and someone takes my spot in front of our door. Lol. Also, my stupid Sprint/T-mobile coverage was terrible here. The other accomodations definitely overrode the somewhat lacking Monday morning breakfast: quiet neighborhood, calm weather, microwave, mini fridge, iron & board, lots of programs on the TV, free Wi-Fi, walk-in shower, and private gated area with code access.

We stayed in the Pinion. The positives. It's remote and really close to Palo Duro Canyon (18 minutes) That was nice. It's about 12 minutes from the Big Texan. It's in a pretty setting. The bed was comfy. We stay at B&B's because there is a level of expectation where hospitality takes over and you feel like you were being treated like royalty. This is not that place. It almost felt like our stay was a little bit of an inconvenience. The room is small and very dated, but covered in wood plank and not very clean. A lot of dust. This particular room did not have a shower and only a bath tub with the hot water trickles out. I'm not joking. It took about 30 minutes to fill the bathtub. Tip 1. Make sure to ask if the room you are booking has a shower if you're needing a shower for medical reasons or handicap accessibility. According to one of the reviews, and in their pictures, there appeared to be a nice shower in the mesquite, but we weren't given the chance to stay there. Once you get in the room, you're given two towels for the bath and two towels for the hot tub. I uncovered the hot tub to see that the water was very cloudy and it wasn't a result of the bubbles. So I put the cover right back on. They don't give you anything with respect to toiletries when it comes to soap or shampoo or lotions or bath bomb. So it really does feel like you're not being pampered. Bed And Breakfast should always feel like you're being pampered. And inside the room, you're not giving any type of bottled water, filtered water and so you rely on the bathroom sink in the bathroom tub. Which I thought was really bad. The outside of the room was covered in Pineneedles on the walkway, and so we tracked some into a room. When we were trying to get into the door, some even to get into the wheels of our suitcase. It was kind of annoying. The area is just really dated and not well kept. However, that does give it a very rustic feel and so if you're into that kind of thing that it may suit your fancy. It does have a really cute cat that keeps you company in the random deer that you will see from time to time. Overall, I'm sure it meets the needs of a specific clientele that would enjoy that atmosphere but when I go to a bed-and-breakfast, I consider myself to be high maintenance. So they certainly could meet the need a specific individuals however, it's not a place that I would really return to .

She had an attitude and was NOT friendly at all! She didn't smile and was very rude! My friend asked her what time would the bar open? Her response was NEVER, again friend asked will it ever open and her response was NOPE. I will never stay there again. Honestly, we went in and out a lot and not once did we see her smile in the 2 days of staying there. It would probably be in your best interest for your hotel by getting rid of her. I didn't catch her name because she didn't have a badge on. She was working the desk on Monday the 23rd of March at 4:00 in the afternoon. I could give a description of her but maybe you can figure out who she was by the date and time. Also, if you advertise a bar it should be open. Ridiculous!!!! I'm sure this will never make it to the right people because it looks like there are a lot of complaints about the check in process.

Said my room type was oversold and asked if I could be flexible to change, so I agreed. Second: was on the 8th floor, and only 1 of 3 elevators worked. Needless to say that wait was forever, every day. Third: On my third night, the only working elevator was in "test" mode, according to the manager and was off limits, with no answer of when testing would be completed. So I walked 8 flights of stairs.....got my steps in! Fourth: received my bill via email on the morning I checked out, when I was already at my office and was overcharged by $300, due to the room type change. That was not explained to me when the room type was changed at check-in. And what is more odd as the fact that the room type was a downgrade, and I was still charged more! Fifth: I tried calling the hotel to work out. The wrong charges in the hotel. Phone line was busy, just received a busy signal. So I had to go back to the hotel in person to dispute the charges. Sixth: the hotel manager listen to my explanation and honored my original charge, which was the right thing to do. After I went ahead and told her the other issues of the hotel, she said she would just get those fixed and never apologized. The entire time I was here with all of the challenges not one staff member actually said "I'm sorry". I will never stay here and I would never recommend anyone to stay here. It's not harsh for me to say that this place operates like a joke.
