We took our 16 year old in to build a set up for his birthday, we were taken care of from the jump. He helped us build his best option set up for our price point(killer!) and they had a huge variety of boards, trucks, and wheels. He installed the grip tape for him but encouraged him to finish his build! Looked up local skate shops in Reno,NV on chat gpt and found Classic Skate shop, I noticed that it was ran by the owner. So my husband and I decided to stop in and see what they had. Walked in, was greeted right away then I asked him a lot of questions about boards and my son being a newbie and buying his first skateboard. He told us we had options to trick boards, cruiser boards etc. We decided on a cruiser board since my son wants to just skate with his big brother. With over 40 years of experience he put together a great board for him. He even said he would build it himself. I can't wait to pick it up and upload a photo of how sick this board is going to look. These guys are the best. They are very welcoming and don't try to pressure you into buying anything. They always point out the price point boards, shoes, clothes and other specials going on. They have the best shoe selection by far with many brands. The board wall is constantly rotating with fresh lumber. I would highly recommend stopping by classic before anywhere else. I was visiting from out of town and just so happened to catch a shoe release. I was with my wife and kids so I was a little weary of standing in line. No one was practicing social distancing so I got a bit scared off. The owner showed up and I think didn't really know why everyone was lined up. Then realized they were all there for shoes. Hahaha! I feel like he handled it as best as he could with all the disgruntled people that again were not practicing social distancing. Hard to be a shop owner in this situation but he did a great job of handling the situation. People weren't exactly happy but there are rules and he did what he felt was best to keep his staff and customers safe. We all missed out on the shoes but it was a good call by the owner at the end of the day. He did the right thing. read more

One of the kids asked for a skateboard from Santa and since I spent most of my formative years sitting on a skateboard smoking in various parking lots I can't bring myself to buy a skateboard from Target. Off to Classic Skate Shop where I was expecting to be raped in the wallet, sneered at by "skate kids" and then barraged with upselling for completely unnecessary shit. Instead, I was sold relatively "value" priced wheels, trucks and a deck by an insanely helpful clerk who threw in some free grip tape and stickers. It didn't cost me a fortune and the only "skate kid" working was a skate MAN with a beard so amazingly lustrous it went straight past hipster and all the way around to biblical. Quality work by quality folks. For quality parts and skate-centric chit-chat, we're looking at a solid four stars. read more

This company likes to mess with people's emotions, they advertise that they will do a drop and you should up before they open however they clame they have sold out! How is that even possible? They open at 11:00 yet they say they sold out before 9 hmmm . I use to shop here for a long time, this was my son's favorite store. I will no longer will I give my hard earned money to a company that feeds of off false advertising! Not to mention the employees walks past the line of people and doesn't have the curtesy to say they have sold out! I'm tempted to go straight into the nitty gritty details of the shop--the fantastic selection of skater-owned brands, the myriad unique decks they stock, the nice selection of apparel--but I'd rather comment on the guy behind the counter, Dean. He might honestly be the friendliest, nicest person I've ever met. My wife and I were in Reno to check out the city, and we knew that stopping by Classic was a must. Dean made sure our instinct was rewarded. He probably talked with us about Reno and its surrounding areas for 45 minutes. He made us feel right at home, and when it was time to shop, he let us browse with no interruption.
