Bought a car from this place. They financed it, did a good job convincing me they were honest. I finally pay off the car and ask for my extra key (which they said they were holding until I finished paying them) and the deed. New key! The old one had been drained of battery. When I got the key with the deed, it crumbled in my hand as I tried to turn on the car. When I asked for a replacement they said I could buy one. I'd just moved to Cedar Park, and discovered that the hard plastic sheet under the front end of my car was loose and dragging on the ground.. True Auto was right around the corner so I drove slowly into their lot. It was lunchtime so I expected to have to wait. No. They treated me like family! They put my car on a lift, rustled around with zipties, and even put my new license plates on the car, and put on the new registration sticker. I was ready to go in just a few minutes and they refused to take anything in payment. I am so grateful for their generosity and kindness. There's a sign on their wall that reads "Honest and Fair". I think that about sums it up....oh. They should add "Knows What They're Doing" to that sign. I have no problem recommending them, and I'll use them from now on. I had an issue with my car randomly stalling. My Ford dealer ran it through their machine, told me there was no problem, and sent me on my way. David took the time to talk to me, asked a ton of questions, and got me fixed up. I know a few successful, honest mechanics and its not always about that. I have several friends in both the general car industry and mechanics. Even with my awesome contacts, my jeep sat a couple of friends shops forever because I couldn't afford what they said I needed....a new engine. They were kind enough to let me take up valuable space for free and truly believed the solution was a new engine. This was the consensus of 3 trusted, 5 star mechanics. They wound up making no money off of me and maybe even lost some for letting my jeep sit for so long. Point there is-they weren't dishonest. I finally decided to tow it ONE more time to True Auto, owned by, what I know realize is, a brilliant engineer and his super sweet wife. They fixed not only the original issue but also the problems that resulted from having it sit for so long. If I would've taken it to them in the first place- I would've saved over 7k through out almost a year of not having my beloved baby. They obviously saw what others couldnt so again-it's not always about "having an honest friend who's been doing this forever". I wound up borrowing my grandmothers Mercedes and got in a tiny fender bender that cost ANOTHER 3k (because its a Mercedes). We went through insurance for that but that Mercedes that was so graciously lended to me was very complicated for me to drive and understand....and apparently too complex for all the big name mechanics to even figure out. It randomly wouldnt start, for example. No clue from multiple mechanics! But of course, my mother (Mother Knows Best), takes it to True Auto and it was...dare I say?...cheap! and quick to fix by True Auto....thus why I took another shot with them at diagnosing my Jeep. They're honest, explain everything, local, family owned, and just all around BAD ASS! You may notice they don't waste money on a large comfy office/waiting room. I assume thats how they get to pass on the savings or simply know what they're doing, not just as mechanics and engineers but also as business owners- which in my opinion is HUGE. I feel bad saying I wont even go back to my friends, some of which SPECIALIZE in Jeeps and you know how us Jeepers are! They're also 40 minutes away from me and Id rather tow or make a problem worse by continuing to drive it up there than go anywhere else. Shout Out and Big Thanks to my momma as well! Without her - I'd still be driving a beautiful but dinged up space machine and winding up on the side of the road constantly. haha! Neither of us know the people that work here or own it. Great experience with True Auto Sales & Service. I was referred to David from a friend who trusted him as an honest and fair mechanic. I brought my beloved Blazer in when my engine overheated last week. Let me clarify that I really love my Blazer - my little two-door SUV is my dream car. Last Friday after once of the recent ices my car overheated early in the morning. The lights dimmed and nothing was responding. My heart sunk. I brought her into Dave, pretty much knowing that I'd blown a head or worse. To my dismay, the news was indeed bad - I needed major overhaul on my engine. The owner gave me solid advice on fixing my car. I trusted his opinion and I was thankful he was so informative and honest, as well as not speaking to me in layman's terms. Ultimately I decided to keep my car and fix her up. Since she would be there a few days, I requested the brakes be done as well. My rear struts were broken as well (the device that keeps the hatch open in the rear to load and unload) and I'd had issues with my windshield wipers. When all was said and done, I felt like I got a practically brand-new car back. The rates were very fair. The owner was so thorough with my car and I feel like he was attentive with the tiny details - even showing me the bolts and tubing that had come out of my car. He walked me through everything he did and gave me a complete parts lists with my receipt. He also showed me the bad parts taken off my car, so I could really understand the damage that had been done. This was not only interesting, but it's also comforting to witness the decay of the parts with your own eyes. I already trusted Dave, but still it's nice just to see it for yourself. There was nothing wrong with the wipers - turns out I had been buying the wrong blades. My windshield has a curve to it (who would have thought?) and David demonstrated to me why the wipers hadn't been working. Funny that I'd had the car looked at twice about the wipers and no mechanic had been able to tell me what was wrong with them. I had been told to buy a whole new motor for it at one point. After leaving True Auto (with my new, and correct, blades) my windshield wipers work perfect. He also improved the force and reach of the fluid spray - not sure how he did that but I wasn't charged for it. Thank you, David! Overall I can't say a bad thing about this place. I will definitely be back in the future. It's hard to find a good mechanic that you can trust - and it's a relief that there's one just around the corner! read more

I've been here three times, this being my third and I would go no where else in this area. First time A/C: jiffy lube told me my ac was blown $1,200 repair...true auto realized it was low on coolant quick and cheap fix Second time brakes: coming home my brakes started dragging and grinding, being distraught I didn't realize what time it was and dropped in...they got the parts, then stayed 30 mins after closing to make sure I was good to go Most recent water pump: my corolla started chirping when I accelerated, getting louder and louder over the course of a week with my ac producing a coolant smell...water pump was leaking...the guys at true auto diagnosed it and explained why, how, and how much in plain English with no hidden fees/charges The people here are amazingly friendly, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. I never have felt pressured to obtain a service that wasn't needed, and I always walk away more knowledgeable of my own vehicle. This place came highly recommended to me. The guy who recommended it said they are very trustworthy and honest and wouldn't overcharge me. I went today to have my car fixed, so I am basing this review on today only. I felt like they were very honest and fair with me. He explained everything and at the end even took off the cost of one of the diagnostic tests. He also didn't charge me for the entire time my car was there, but I could tell from the bill that they truly only charged me for the time they spent actually working on the car. It ended up costing less than I thought it would based on previous experience at other repair places. He also gave me lots of tips about my car and cars in general. I LOVE this place! My most recent visit was for an oil change, one that we were trying to get done before leaving town. After a thorough job on the oil change, so thorough that they were helping us after they should have closed shop, we were ready to head out of town. When closing the door to leave, the window fell inside the door. I was a little less than cool about leaving town with a window open and while I was overreacting about my luck, the staff went *way* above anything I would have expected. They were so helpful and calm. They took apart our door, screwed a wooden block to hold it up, and even helped us look for alternative ways to get out of town. We left with a window that would stay closed on our drive and were not charged a penny for the window fix. What a great place! read more

Today was my first visit to True Auto. I checked out YELP! reviews and found them to be very good. Since True Auto is close to my house I thought why not. I took my daughter's car in for an alignment only to find out it needed the lower ball joint replaced. The alignment alone would have been a waste of time and money. The price was competitive. They said they even found the parts cheaper and saved me a few bucks. The car is now running smoothly. The only thing I would not give an A on is the fact that when I pulled out my credit card I was informed there would be a 3% charge for using credit. Don't most people use credit when it comes to repairs that are $300 and up? Don't most businesses build this into the their fee schedules? There went the savings on the parts and then some. Just be aware of this when you go in. Yes they have it posted but it is posted on a wall with about 2-3 other full pages of general information. No one's going to read that. I wasn't even aware of it until the female employee mentioned it. I had to look all over the cluttered walls to find it. It needs to be on the door along with the credit cards accepted sign. The work was done satisfactorily and I now know my daughter's transportation is once again reliable. So, I will most likely come back in the future but I will bring ca$h if at all possible. read more

I've lived in Cedar Park since 1999 and have used Dave at True Auto numerous times for my vehicles. Dave and his team each time that I have used them have done what I have asked them to do, on time, honest, and is very competitive in his charges. I trust him to do a good job and am confident that he is not taking advantage of me by doing things that do not require any repair. I have recommended his company to several of my friends and am confident of his service or I would not do so. Just this week, I took a carburetor to him for overhaul and he said it would be Wednesday before he would be able to get to it. He called me about 4 pm that afternoon and told me to come and get it. He said, after taking it apart that it did not need near the work that he thought it would need, repaired a couple of things, made a few adjustments and charged me for only what he did. I bought a 2004 VW Convertible Turbo Beetle from this shop in March of this year. It was my dream car and after some research I thought it would be a good car. I've had this car in for repair every month since I bought it. I am in a repair business myself and I know the dread that comes with seeing something you've repaired that much. I've had them do all the repairs thus far. They're really friendly, super informative, and really nice. I just think European cars are not their specialty, and I've opted to take it elsewhere for future repairs. Overall, other than the crappy car, I've had a good experience with them. I live in Liberty Hill and they are one of few places that are close that offer repairs on European cars. I enlisted in the Navy and I ship out in January, I will be selling my car at that point because I don't trust it enough to take it with me, and when I asked them questions about selling it from out of state, they had answers and even offered to help me sell it. I really couldn't have asked for more. They're a little more expensive than some of the places in Austin, buuuuuut I'd rather deal with the people there than the places in Austin and feel its definitely worth it. read more

I always take my car and truck here. Like the other reviewers, I have found these guys to be fair and honest. They always give me an estimate upfront and perform the work in a very timely manner. Their prices on parts and labor are extremely reasonable. They have worked on both my car and truck with work including: ac replacement, serpentine belt replacement, temp control knob fix, and cam phaser replacement. They fixed an alignment issue that other shops were unable to figure out. All work was completed in a timely manner and at reasonable rates. I highly recommend. read more

Customer service is excellent. Owner David is very respectful toward female customers--not condescending like you sometimes find with mechanics. Everyone I met in the shop is a class act. They get your car in and out ASAP; do thorough work; and charge fair prices for parts and labor. Cost me just under $500 (including parts and labor) to do all four brakes. If you are looking for HONEST, personable, and reliable service, True Auto is THE only place to have your car serviced - even if you have to drive to Cedar Park from Austin. Believe me, the owner Dave, is the greatest guy in CP. He tells it to you straight. Ray, his right hand man, is also one of the greatest guys - always greets you with a smile even on the phone. You can hear it in his voice! Dustin, numero uno mechanic, is efficient and thorough. I sold my last vehicle to Dave for a fair price. Thr four years my daughter was in college in OK, True Auto maintained her Civic every time she was home on break. I would drive 100 miles to have these guys take care of my car. Carmen, Dave's wife, has a heart of gold and keeps those boys in line! No really, they do fine on their own. This is what a family own/run/managed business should be. We bought a 2005 Ford Freestyle from True Auto at the end of August. They told us repeatedly what great mechanics they were but when it came to the inspection, several things had not been addressed (i.e. needed new tires, oil leak, out of alignment, wiper motor inoperable). David did repair some things but refused to acknowledge that the tires had dry rot. We should not have bought the vehicle at this point but we did. BIG MISTAKE. That week the A/C unit barely functioned and then the transmission went out. David said he'd replace the transmission at "cost" - but at a cost of $4,000 to us! How could we trust him to do a major repair like the transmission if he can't even diagnose minor problems accurately? We later found out that these vehicles have a known issue with the CVT transmission...something We think a mechanic should know about. We also learned after we purchased the vehicle that there had been recent repairs to the transmission - we should have known that before we bought. We have asked him repeatedly to take the vehicle back but he has refused. Don't buy a vehicle from True Auto. read more
